ORIGINAL: Gem35 Disagree, both had their own style but Maiden as we all know is all Steve Harris. Bruce developed into a great front man IMHO. Agree with you about Harris, but I preferred Di'Anno , he had a much more raw voice and I thought it suited the music better. Not saying that Dickinson was not a great showman, but for me that is the problem. It all became much more theatrical. Di'Anno sounded like a old rough neck off the council estates, which is exactly what he was, while Dickinson sounded like a choir singing public schoolboy, which is exactly what he is. Still, each to their own It's good to agree that we disagree, I will give you the fact Bruce was a showman but the way the band evolved and the fact that eddy was used more as a marketing tool, the natural progression of the band was made just for that purpose. Merchandise was produced and they moved towards the mainstream to make more money. I do have alot of favorites like wraithchild and remember tomorrow as well as rime of the ancient mariner and moonchild, both singers had their strengths but Bruce dominated for the most part. If we all agreed on the same things the World would be a boring place Take your point about the way the band evolved, most bands go the same way as the shows get bigger and bigger. Same thing happened to AC/DC after Brian replaced Bon, with the band relying more on stage gimmick's like inflatable Rosie's etc. I'm not adverse to all Dickinson era songs, love "The Trooper" for example. When I was in my teens I had all the Maiden album's up until Powerslave. Actually, I started out with the Dickinson stuff and discovered Di'Anno later on. Still got them all floating around on cassette and vinyl somewhere's. As I got older my tastes changed. I prefer my rock a bit more "gritty", so the only ones I have replaced on cd have been the Di'Anno ones. Have toyed with the idea about getting The Number of The Beast, though. Now, what about Blaze Bayley....................... Honestly? I could care less, when Bruce left I "left". I didn't want to go through another guy, I am just glad bruce came back and they made Brave new World. The Blaze Bayley thing was a bit tongue in cheek I'm not qualified to judge him cos i've never heard his stuff with Maiden, but from what I have read it wasn't too pretty It seems a lot of fans were very happy to have Bruce back.
