Nik I know what works for one couple doesn't always work for another. That being said, this month my wife and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

If you can't do the last one, definitely do 1 and 2 and let her know how you feel.

I hear ya, Nik. In all seriousness, these are ripe grounds for problems. Communication and trust are the watchwords of the day. Hope things work out well for the two of you.

Yes....definately different flavours....and as mentioned by wise persons....no guaurentees. My dad's marriage lasted 17 years before an "office rommance" ended it. GF and i have made it to 8 years. We are both not deep into the marriage thing and both us of are against making copies of each other.

We did talk about it and i was honest in that i was not suprised given the info i had gleaned. She gave me a few quizzical looks on a couple comments i made in response to the future but like you'all said....ultimately there has to be trust....and like i told her....it's not like she can quit her job, or like i'm gonna start following her around in suspicion and distrust.

One has to trust in the end.....but part of me still wishes she hadn't said anything as one is left with an unsettled feeling. It's like the time a former roommate made a pass on me and i (as it turns out wisely) declined to mention it to the GFU until AFTER the roommate was history. Sometimes things are better left unsaid.

Nik, if you want my advice, its that you shouldnt sweat it. In my life experience I've learned one thing for absolute certain. If youre SO is inclined to do something silly, there is absolutely nothing you can say or do to stop, stall or avert that. On the flip side of it, if raise it as an issue to you SO, there is a very good chance that they would take offense at (I know I would in her place) the insinuation that you dont trust her. My personal opinion is that you should not make your problems into her problems (I'm sure she has enough, dealing with you ) unless given overt cause to do so.

We'll have to agree to disagree. "Eastern Promises" is the worst film Viggo Mortensen has ever been in.

Did you ever see, "History of violence"?

I did. It was the second worst.

Followed by Hidalgo.

As Hall and Oats once said (musically):

I feel like I could run away
Looking at a darker day
Oh I'm pulling the shades away from my eyes
It's true the moody manners come and go
And it's better that you never know

Some things are better left unsaid
Some strings are better left undone
Some hearts are better left unbroken
Some lives are better left untouched
Some lies are better off believed
Some words are better left unspoken

They also said "Who-oh, Here she comes".

But they were probably right about that.

Did I miss something? Did someone pick NC up and drag it to the midwest?

We're getting some rain overnight, maybe even a thunderstorm. Temps are in the low 50's now, and expected to rise to around 60 by morning. Tomorrow afternoon will be windy, sunny, and low 70's.

Good evening, Brothers.  Chores are in the bag.  Now it's time for dinner, a hockey game on the big screen, and an AE turn.

Well, I thought all "East coasters" (our country's version of the disparate "Midwesterners) were all the same anyways.

The lower 70's, eh? Perfect weather, huh? Sounds terrible. Glad I'm not there!

We'll be in the lower 40s tonight. That's the good news. The bad news? That's the lower 40s as in 40 degrees below 0 (with wind chill). The interesting tidbit about -40? It's about the same in F or C. Hey, I know, it's all we've got goin' for us right about now.

Sounds about right. There seems to be some sort mysterious vortex in Suffolk County, NY which caused me to be transported to sub-Arctic Canada.

This guy showed up in the backyard, not as big as the other one (i think his father) that we saw some years ago (and got captured). This one is about 4' long (Dad was about 5' long, and the dad rivaled the size of a small cougar):

Yes, and British immigration is off the charts! There's the real threat! We are going to be Limeyized! A chippie on every street corner! Starbucks will serve only tea!

It's looking up for you chaps then

Personally, I'd love to be able to tell my boss "sod off, its tea time".

Wouldn't you use 'wanker' or 'prat' in that sentence too?

If at all possible....

How about "Sod off, you wanker! It's tea time!! Thread, what a prat..."

morning......

some morning indeed. An entire dept here just got laid off.....and last nite my GF told me she was pulled aside yesterday by a co-worker and told that one of the managers she works closely with is "madly in love with her." Better.....it's a person she really likes and gets on well with.

What does one say to such a thing.......

Well, that is an odd morning.

Did you guys have any hints about the layoffs ?

Is the guy who is madly in love with her senior to her ? Does he bother her ? Do we need to help you take him out ?

Wait... is the co-worker saying that someone is madly in love with your GF? Or that the manager is in love with the co-worker??

She was clued in by a co-worker but having met the guy and just in listening to GFU talk about him and their interactions, I can believe it....that and she told me that when i came in to the store on the weekend to say hi to her, he was there and after i left he too took off and "avoided" GFU for the rest of the day.

Normally i'd not be concerned as it's not the first time she's had guys interested in her naturually. What kind of alarmed me though was that this is the first time it's occured with a person she really likes and has alot in common with. I shouldn't be insecure i suppose and i'm not the jelous(tm) type....but still....i'm almost wishing she hadn't told me. GFU has readily admited that had i come to her with a similar situation, she'd be "freaking out and sharpening the kitchen accessories"

It also touches a nerve in me because it presents a situation similar to what occured in my family many moons ago.

Hmmm, send me his name. Maybe we could get the IRS interested in him

BTW, Intel will, predicted by them, loose 700 $ million us 1000 $ million... they found a error in hardware on "Sandy Bridge" new chipsets... they have to recall 8 million already made chipsets... engineering error during design... one transistor was wrongly designed and after prolonged use it would die (the 3 GB SATA ports are affected)...

My Argletonian colleague is confusing 'scrapple' with 'chitlins'. Scrapple is made of of bits and pieces of meat from the pig's head, shoulders and forequarters, macerated and then spiced. Served hot on a sandwich, it's not half bad. It's akin to SPAM, but with a bit more spiced flavor, I'd say.

We used to eat fried scrapple at breakfast when we camped as teenagers.  Yum!  Can you feel the arteries constricting?
