OK, guys.  Help me out here.  Have I missed any of the various "hats"?

I think someone should ask "Ambassador" (hey, is he still around here ? Hy man !) , because he is belgium and could maybe help to understand, but the man pretending to be Jean/Helmut don't really seam able to speak french; i once asked him to write something in french and never get a reply....

Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: USS America
Just got home, and it seemed to go fantastically. Interviewed with 4 people, 2 managers and 2 potential peers. Had 4 really good conversations and then went home.

They are going to meet tomorrow and then contact the contracting agency I'm working through. The last guy in the interview lineup left my previous employer a year ago and started at this place on a 6 month "contract to hire" arrangement, the same as the position I'm applying for. He was hired permanent after his 6 months.

I think things look really good, and I expect to hear good news as soon as tomorrow. Now, I'm going out to dinner with my son to celebrate both big occasions today.

Fingers crossed Mike!

Fair enough. Are you claiming it for your Republic of Goofballistan? Or is it the People's Democracy of Nutjobia?

OK - my wife just went to a gun safety class- she insists that the correct way (as taught by the teacher) to shoot a pistol is NOT to use your index finger to pull the trigger, but rather to use the middle finger... i told her that if you happened to be using a heavy duty revolver (i.e. .454 Casull or similar high-powered weapon), you would likely lose your fingers since the gas jets out of the cylinder and could literally sever a digit (this is no joke).

So, she insisted i check this out: so i showed her some videos on "the correct way to shoot a pistol" - and they used the index finger to pull the trigger... She still insisted it was wrong.

i then offered to check the Thread, as many of you have been officially trained in the use to firearms...

So - what finger do you use to fire a pistol (as trained)?

I taught pistol marksmanship at Quantico from 85-88. Index finger.

Not only that, but the slide from a semi-automatic may cause some problems unless you have your index finger out of the way.

Index finger pull.

She needs to find another instructor-luckily there's lots and lots of 'em out there that aren't idiots.

Could you even hold onto it after it fired if you were using your middle finger?  Seems akward...

I've only ever read one story of somebody firing a weapon with something other than his index finger, and that was a German rifleman in Stalingrad who had to fire his rifle with his pinky because all his other fingers had frozen off.

IIRC, Tom Berringer did so in "Sniper" after his others had been broken by his deranged captors. I saw it on a movie screen, so it's gotta be real.

Well, I sure can't touch that experience.

30 x .22 rounds from a modified Colt 45 in USN boot camp. Even us total noobs used our index finger as taught there.

That has to be tough to work the bolt on a Mauser with only a pinky.
