Well Jeff, i think, being in scen 2, i gotta live with the idea that i will never be able to overwhelm Rader in terms of number a/c .... and if he's really putting everything in The Solomons or in DEi, consider that soon (and i mean in less than 1 month) i'll have estabilished a solid new front on the Burma frontier...so the air war will finally arrive in Burma...and he'll need lots of planes there!!

So you have to fight him in Burma, the DEI from Darwin, Solomons etc at the same time. If you allow a him a break on one front he has the ability to shift forces quickly.

Your upcoming Burma front could be a negative to rader's withdrawal, check out what the B29 can hit from the Dimapur/Dacca region. You might be in range of a few juicy targets from China to the DEI, again forcing him to spread out his millions of fighters.

Would an Aleutians feint help at all, say one week before the DEI invasion? Just throwing it out there...

Is rader able to concentrate so many of his fighters in the Rabaul area because you have not been able to threaten him in other areas?

With interior lines and long ranged aircraft he can cycle aircraft in from other theatres.

IMHO, if you go into the DEI, you will be fighting similar numbers unless you put in credible threats on other fronts and keep up the threat in the Solomons.

Yes, wherever you go in scen #2 you will be faced with swarms of Japanese air. But a presence in the DEI will force him to move lots of aircraft there to protect his oil. And he has to keep a large force there forever. That gives the Allies breathing room elsewhere.

don't have the resources to open another front now. I'm concentrating everything in India - Solomons - NG/Southern DEI and northern Oz theatres...

sleepy turns... march 4th 1944....my CVs are at melbourne, escorting a big convoy with 2 US Corps (4 divisions) and several support units to Perth...

In India tomorrow we'll conquer Bombay and we'll start to recon Burma from Ansalon...

In SOPAC we have just started to recon Truk from Panggoe...the KB isn't there nor at Rabaul...

...soon we'll have some actions...it seems that he's not fully aware of my moves in northern OZ....

It's really frustrating sometimes how much time it takes you to move everything in place for a big invasion....it's taking me months to move everything i need to western oz....

You should take a day to eat turkey, eventhough you do not celebrate it over there. Just use it as an excuse.

Now, now Reek. Let's not get too impatient. You know of war.....long days of drudgery in muddy trenches or smoky map rooms followed by a few moments of stark, raving terror that lives on with the survivors for years and years. 'tis a pity, it is....but better to be the victor than the defeated. So, plan carefully and execute precisely.

It doesnt have to be OVERLORD, just movement of shipping and recon by LR bombers, get him thinking. Even a Bn reoccupying an empty island gets bells ringing.

sleepy turns... march 4th 1944....my CVs are at melbourne, escorting a big convoy with 2 US Corps (4 divisions) and several support units to Perth...

As I've once run into KB south of Perth, maybe a train trip would have been more resting for the troops

In India tomorrow we'll conquer Bombay and we'll start to recon Burma from Ansalon...

Given your losing KB, this seems an odd statement?

I know but those troops were being moving from Ndeni...and those ships are anyway needed at Perth so i decided not to lose time to stop at Sydney to unload, pack and send them and to go directly towards Perth...don't think the KB will show up there after the recent defeats...and if it dares...oh, well, the better! At perth i have 450 fighters and 300 bombers and my 10 CVs are right there with the ships...

My statement is because he has placed 900 fighters at Rabaul, along with 500 bombers...if he was aware of my ideas i bet he would start to move some of them to Timor and Kendari area at least... while he keeps on focusing on the Solomons

Our recons in Burma confirm that his 500k troops are moving towards Mandalay...

We reached the 8th of March 1944...sleepy sleepy turns...we sunk an xAK today in the bay of Bengal...empty

What air did he have in India? That seems like what you'll find in the DEI soon. There might still be a good amount ready and waiting for you. Maybe more IJA not IJN, but the bombers have good range and could get over there in one turn. No need to send them sooner than necessary.

GJ. how about an update?  I didn't get a chance to read the update you kindly made in my AAR, at my request, before you deleted it for OpSec reasons.  (Sorry about that silliness on my part.)  So, what exactly are your plans for NW Oz and the eastern DEI?

no problem CR! we both edited fast enough

Well, i need to take a good screenshot as i used to!
However, the plan is developping pretty well now.

2 US Full corps will be loaded at Perth, along with 2 USAFF and 2 UNS base forces. These troops, escorted by 10 CVs and 15 CVEs, along with a strong SCTF (2 fast BBs, 4 CAs and 8 Fletchers) will move towards Darwin. 400k supplies are with them.... the corps will attack and conquer Bathurst Island (in front of Darwin), defended by 30k japanese (we're daily pounding the base from Mereuake).
At the same time a fast transport TF will occupy the bases east of Darwin.
I don't think Rader will interfere here... the idea is to move 500 fighters to Darwin and Baththrust as soon as the base forces are in place. Engineers and seabees will follow up quickly (everyone is ready at Perth).
The goal is to estabilish in less than a week a strongpoint in Northern Oz from where starting the next operations against DEI...

10th March now...days are flowing fast...

One corps for Bathurst, is the second corps going for a deeper target? Do you have plans for exploitation if you manage to create a breach?

The DEI is "heartland" for Japan, so I would expect rader to have some suspicions, or at least to err on the side of assuming you're coming that way, so I would therefore expect a massive reaction to your moves there.  The poop is gonna hit the fan in a few days....

Well i have 3 Marine Divisions ready to be loaded at Perth...but they are already prepping for the isles north east of Darwin and i really would not like to waste those 3 months of preparations...

Ok, we reached march 13th...

Scary thought, although I'm sure you'd find some willing sailors who'd ride HMS Lady Gaga.

Nope...KB isn't at Rabaul...nor at Truk...no joy in locating her by now... Maybe somehwere in the Mariannas or she's really moving to the DEI, which would be a pity...but i can't have to fear the KB forever Its air groups have clearly lost their most experienced crews and, altough it's still a mighty force, i think my 1000 aircraft strong carrier force is able to deal with her. My air groups are well experienced and most of the pilots have made through the Solomons air meat grinder in the last months...

However i don't wanna get my plans dictated by Rader no more. We'll advance in the Solomons. We'll start reducing Bouganville and then we'll land at Buka.
At the same time we'll get to Darwin and Bathrust and we'll estabilish a strong foothold in southern DEI.

We'll stick on the plan. No matter where the KB is
