The small chinese fleet gets a severe pounding from Fuso, Ise, Hyuga and all the other WWII BB's we know so well.

But they are still able to escape, after taking three or four hits....curse's

I am forced to replace my TF commander with someone 'more able'!!

Another pre-Dreadnought gets a torpedo. Its turning into 'Torpedo Alley' between Formosa and the Philippines.
Good placement by Historiker.

Turn 17.

There really is no justice in the world.
Historikers submariners are hard men committed to their cause.

Mine just spend their time in sunloungers floating about on the surface smoking fags:-

End of Turn 17

Well it seems to be still going to plan , although the troops at Wake keep shock attacking while they unload.....I can't seem to switch it off.

My submariners keep drawing pay under false pretences, and I can't seem to find Katori.........

The Great Manchurian Adventure is still in full swing, and China looks ripe for destruction.

'We only have to kick in the door, and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down'
Now where have I heard that phrase before....????

USNews: Jap mass Harakiri?

For three days in a row, Japanese troops storm ashore on Wake Island, just to be beaten to death with cooking spoons by marine reciep finding team that was on the island to discover new recieps.
Yesterday, one of our reporters came ashore, seeing thousands of dead japs lying in front of the field kitchen.

USNews: We are here on Wake Island with Sergant Miller, Chef of the marines reciep finding team. How is working out new recieps going?
Miller: Quite difficult. Actually, we are beating down so many Japs, that its hard to fiend and herbs that aren't spoiled with jap bllod.
USNews: Oh! What do you do?
Miller: Well, what can we do? We tried the herbs anyways...
USNews: And? How did it taste?
Miller: To be honest: Quite good. I thing the Japanese blood gives our goulash quite an interesting taste. In fact, the Privates Can Stephens and Nibal Stephens, twin brothers btw, even suggested to add some Japanese meat to improve the flavour.
USNews: That is... frightening! Btw: This grilled leg of mutton tastes fantastic!
Miller: Have you seen any mutton on the island?
USNews: No, but it really is fantastic. I guess I will take some more home, you really are a great cook!
Miller: Thank you Sir! We are doing our best!
USNews: Anything you want to tell the audience at home?
Miller: Yes, send more Japs!

Turn 18

The Tokyo Daily Mail

.....Hot off the press....

Lieutenant Colonel T. Dohibara is recalled from 1st Inf Div's important assault on Wake, after the CinC read his evaluation and finds he is only fit for rear duty assignments,
and is immediately replaced with Lieutenant General M. Nakazawa, the 'Manchurian Tiger'.

Dohibara is put in charge of the 23rd Mobile, no make that Static Sushi Engineer Corps.

Dummerkopf!!

Dohibara, you are sacked....better still, someone take him outside and beat him up.

Better still, take me outside and beat me up!! That is just amateursville!!!!

Elsewhere the Cabinet deny that there is anything going wrong at Wake Island.
'We have already taken it, with few casualties', said the Prime Minister Okuma Shigenobu airily, and he added, 'there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour that there are mounds of dead at Wake.
Alot of soldiers are lying on the beach as space is limited. The sound of gunfire comes from our glorious troops practicing their markmanship!!'

USNews Broadcast:

Serganz Miller from Wake Island has sent newfound recieps for great meat meals. Thile the recieps are very detailed and understandable, the hole nation wonders what "LYB" means, and what kind of meat meals he can coook, having no livestock with him.

Anyways, the meat grinder on Wake goes on, with one baseforce defeating a IJA Division day by day.

The Tokyo Daily Mail

.....News Flash.....

Wake Island is captured ( again ).

The 105th USAAS Base Force, reinforced with at least 500,000 US Marines was today overcome by our glorious army.

Wake has fallen.

A captured American chef, one Sergeant Miller and his staff prepared a victory meal for our great Lieutenant General M. Nakazawa, the Manchurian Tiger and conquerer of Wake Island.

The General was later overheard complimenting Sgt. Miller and his staff on the glorious mutton and lamb feast prepared for the General,
shortly before their execution.

Everyone is wondering where the mutton came from

Just as a footnote, this game has proved to be extremely enjoyable, and is a sort of light relief from AE.

Both Historiker and I have full blown GC's against other players, but this game ( for me at least, and I hope for Historiker ), has really been 'fun', partly because its a 'hypothetical' game,
partly because my opponent is such a good sport and excellent player, and partly because its so easy to play compared to AE. ( and I don't mean that in a negative way about AE!! )

No planes to worry about ( well most of the time ), and just huge ships and armies constantly battering each other.

Great fun. I recommend this game to anyone who has the time to fit it in beside their own AE campaigns....

Right....back to the propaganda,...ahem, I mean news reporting.

The funny thing in this game is the extremly limited visibility. I've planned quite a few interesting things - and he never even realized it when they failed...

Also funny: The Chinese Navy hasn't lost a single ship so far, despite several engagements. Their cruisers look like crap, a top speed of 20kn and only two 6in with a few 5in guns. BUT, they survived several engagements, even with enemy BBs, I haven't recorded everything, but I guess they might have even sunk a ship or two, and they have at least participated in the sinking of others.
It's not that they didn't take a pounding, about 40% of the fleet is in repair, now, but they never took more than three or four hits, even against far superior forces.
Their permanent engagements also had other effects. There is not a single Chinese ship that doesn't have day or night experience above 70 points!

Wake gets a visit from the US Pacific Fleet
A Freighter unloading in port is sunk, but she lands a couple of minor hits on the big ships, before the island is bombarded.

Manchuria is all but conquered against feeble Chinese opposition, proving the Japanese military's appraisal of the enemies feeble defences, and that much more can be gained by pushing China.

Elsewhere, fairly quiet. Only about three towns left in Manchuria to take down, Manila look undefended, so I'm sending in a recon unit, and 23 units are reported in Bataan.
