You could be right, most of the team were pretty anonymous.

After the last couple of games the scores on the doors are as follows:

Redcoat...... 14
Dixie...........12
Orm.............9
rogo727.......9
Zeta 16........9
british exil....8
warspite1.....5

2 pts for Dixie and Zeta for the French/Ukraine game, 2 pts for redcoat spread over the two - one point for british exil and rogo, but nil points for warspite and Orm from the two games......

I feel for Orm. It is not a good thing to watch your team going home early. And frankly when Sweden went 2-1 up I was surprised they did not finish it.

Warspite1

Agreed. At 2-1 you would have expected England, on past performance, to completely fold. We still have a job to do against Ukraine though - it ain't gonna be easy - it is England we are talking about after all.....

Will not be easy against the UkRAIN but if Wayne (Rain) Rooney can do his job then we will be out of the rain and in the dry.

Sorry for the puns.

Why are the French wearing all blue? Where's the white shorts and red sock malarchy? Why are England wearing all white with red, yes red trim? And what is that hideous blue excuse for an away kit? A few years ago the Italians mucked around with their shade of blue

I hate it when people change things like this. The Germans have more class - white shirts, black shorts and White socks no messing - it's tradition.

Right, open post to the FA and the French equivalent - show some respect for tradition, have some class and wear your proper kit or I'm going to get soojan to start hitting people....okay?

Wait to you see the Swedish kit. Then you can really rant about lack of respect.
Warspite1

What is wrong with the kit Ormster - yellow - blue - yellow. Is it the shade, the style or what?

The home kit is good enough. It is the away kit that is scary. Below is picture of the new away kit that they had against Ukraine and at bottom is the kit used before that. Neither is to my liking.

Why? Oh well, don't tell me you didn't know this one (aren't you a football fan? ). They use new outfits to make sure they sell t-shirts every single year... New year = new outfit = more sales... That's what clubs do

Warspite1

eh?

So teams change strip from time to time to generate extra revenue from replica kit sales? Really? No kidding....

My point is there is a difference between changing the trim and changing the strip. Adding trim = acceptable (within reason). Changing club/national colours = Totally unacceptable. Aren't you a football fan?

Unacceptable to you. Kids playing in the street don't need these colours to play the game. And these kids represent the pure essence of football = play & enjoy, as opposed to some sort of nationalistic paramilitary activity The rest is irrelevant...

Yes, unacceptable to me - it was, of course, my opinion being voiced .... As for the rest of your post above - sheer twaddle....what are you talking about?? Nationalistic paramilitary activity?? Are you Ron manager?

The two games today are the final games from Group A and will feature:

Greece v Russia
Poland v Czech Republic

Current Standings: Russia 4 pts, Czech Republic 3 pts, Poland 2 pts, Greece 1 pt.

All the teams in the group can still quallify for the next round.

Russia will be through with a draw and they can even afford to lose their game tonight (providing they lose to fewer than 6 goals) if the Poland v Czech Republic is a draw.

Greece will be through with a win. Anything else and they are out.

Czech Republic will be through with a win. Could even progress with a draw unless Greece beat Russia by five goals or fewer.

Poland will be through with a win. Anything else and they are out.

Both matches are being played at the same time (1945 UK) which leaves me with the choice of which game to listen to. I fancy listening to the Greece v Russia game but could always change my mind in the next few hours.

Good luck to all the teams.

Best wishes,
Steve

Nah, I am literally making fun of the nationalistic tone of your rant. Happy now?

You don't like non-national colours? I don't like the nationalistic tone aka the darkest side of football... as opposed to the naive kids playing for fun. Looks like you didn't get it...

Opinions which I am airing. I hope you don't mind. Wait, I'm lying. If you don't like it it's your problem

In which case, I either didn't explain myself sufficiently, or you have gotten completely the wrong end of the stick...

quote:

You don't like non-national colours?

Yep, that confirms it was the latter

quote:

I don't like the nationalistic tone aka the darkest side of football

...and my post had nothing to do with nationalistic tone - at least not of the variety you are alluding to.

quote:

as opposed to the naive kids playing for fun.

Good grief....we are back in Ron Manager territory

quote:

Looks like you didn't get it...

No - you completely misunderstood

quote:

Opinions which I am airing. I hope you don't mind. Wait, I'm lying. If you don't like it it's your problem

Er no. I have no problem with you airing your view - and if its the opposite of mine then so be it - no problem.

BUT

I DO however have an issue with you not understanding my post, and then, despite this, deciding to respond in that self-important, "don't tell me you didn't know this one (aren't you a football fan?)" type way. Then compounding this by going off into a "nationalistic paramilitary activity" type area

Right - just so we are clear:

The post had nothing to do with nationalistic colours - The German flag is Black, Orange and Red (they wear white and black), The Italian flag is Red, White and Green (they wear blue). The point is that the colours the national team wear, go back many years - in most cases to when the national associations were formed. They should stick to those - its TRADITION. BTW The English ARE wearing their national colours - red and white. But its WRONG - white and blue are the colours of the English football team.

Look at the colours they're wearing. I will look at the game. Fair enough

And nope, tradition would be using the really original outfit (well, there are two to avoid confusions) But of course that would mean less fruitful sales
