All sorts of great stuff. If you're reading this boss, promote me! I bought a t-shirt for Josh at the weekend.

T-shirts and jackets, calendars, kid sized black flying suits, art prints including several limited editions, signed prints, hip flasks and all the other trinkets you usually get at museum shops. For the kiddies (or men in their 40s who should have tried harder at school) we also give out posters, this year it was the Spitfire on one side and the Lanc on the other. If the aircrew are able to then they'll come down and sign the posters for the kids.

Cool!

BTW, nice stuff tom send to buddies from "THE THREAD!!!"...

Sure, simply send me some cash and it'll be on the way I need money right now, until my Nigerian inheritance comes in I seem to be running short of cash

Or you could be a good looking girl and you'd get a free poster

Hi all,

I sure labored over this long weekend. Bought a car for my wife to put her 160 miles/day into that gets around 38 mpg.

That much commute every day?

BTW, are you guys starting to consider all electric (or hybrid electric / petrol) cars like Volt yet?

Hi Leo, no all electric cars for us, at least not for my wife's commute. She's out on the open highway for most of her miles, so all electric is not convenient, or likely even possible. But also, the cost of these cars is still waaaaaay to high. With the number of miles she drives, we will burn up the value of the car in 3 years or less. Bought a 2010 Focus for 1/4 the cost of a Volt.

RGR Mike - thanks for info!

BTW, how much is MPG for your Porsche (i.e. is it new or old model)?

Leo "Apollo11"

Hi Leo, our Boxster S is a 2008 and gets around 25 MPG on the highway, when we drive it reasonably.
Our Cayenne is a 2009 and gets around 22 MPG on the highway. Both require "premium" or higher octane rating fuel, which is around $4.10/gallon currently in our area, while the Focus is getting around 38 MPG and uses "standard" fuel, which is currently running about $3.75/gallon here.

Honestly, the Porsches are not too bad with their gas mileage for what they are. We're more concerned with burning up the value of the cars with all the miles. The gas savings effectively paying for the Focus and added insurance just made it an easier decision to "use up" a much less expensive car.

I'm jumping for joy, Andre!

Actually, I'm so freaking burned out on the election. I was burned out already at the end of last year. With NC being a tightly contested state this election, the media blitz is 10 times worse than it could be. I'm avoiding television as much as possible and can't wait for October 20th, when I can vote early and be done with the whole mess. I have managed not to watch a minute of either party's conventions, and will try not to watch anything political until following the returns on the evening of Nov 6th.

I'm pretty sure that my boss already knows I spent a good 20 minutes on Saturday just posing for photos with people*. Seeing as I've already picked up a reputation for being quiet I suspect that rumour control has hit full speed in my absence.

I'm more than willing to give free tours of the hangar to anyone who turns up, but you'd have to drag yourself to Lincolnshire first.

But I am trhrilled about the first hand experience of a battleground state. I already sold two articles for newspapers about this matter.

I think he was referring to betting as in Poker. As in "I see your puppy and raise you 8!".

Lucky? I think not. We outplayed 'em-straight up.

It's OK to be wrong about your sports picks, Jeff. I should think with your history of Kansas sports teams and your perennial hopes for something other than basement dwelling, that you'd have a more realistic take on what failure looks like.
