Ok, now time to pack the computer for moving.

I'll be back in a couple of days. Guess I then gotta set up and use my mobile as a router as well, as I have no cable connection until 1st jan.

Laters guys. Be well.

Good luck with the move, Viking dude!

GOOD LUCK?? Are we not suppose to run and hide whenever Vikings are on the move.

Well, he's only moving some 15km. I think Vikings just strap the furniture to their reindeer and hitch their moose(s?) to their loads to move them short distances like that.

Oh, good. So, I can tell the nuns down the street that they are safe.

NUNS!?!? WHERE?

Don't get excited. They are safely out of your reach. I'm told you don't have a long boat.

3 hours until Navy starts whipping up on Army again.

Yes, yes, 10 v 10 at the half. And the Black Knights kick a clutch FG to tie it up.

Was a fantastic game!

Great game if you didn't bet on navy. They failed to cover the 6.5 spread!

Thanks Torsten. Good info. The pic I saw had it in regular German colors. Were they used for long?

I guess less than ten years.
They were modernized to NATO-standards quite expensively, but the Luftwaffe has the policy not to have more than 3 major warplanes.
So once the Typhoon was introduced, it was Typhoon, Tornado, F-4 and Mig-29. As there were propably 200 F-4 and only ~22 Mig-29, the Migs were sold for 1 € apiece to Poland.

But arnt the 29s like 3 generations newer than the latest Phantom mod?

Saturday evening tithe.

The carton mountain is slowly receding. There's some problems moving to a slightly smaller place. Having storage problems.

No place to put the møøse?

I think youre pretty lucky that your cell companies will let you do that. Here, most either block tethering outright or charge you an arm and a leg to use it.

Really? That's always been open here. I'm paying ~20 (Euro)/month for a 3G account with a max UL/DL of 10Gb/month. As long as I don't pass that limit, they don't care. Neither should they IMHO.

Yep and yep. WU and I are sharing a plan with another couple so we end up paying about $55/phone. Everyone except the other guy who grandfathered his unlimited data plan has a 2gb max. Luckily we all have wifi everywhere. And that doesnt even figure in what it would cost for them to unlock tethering.

And I believe the F-4 is entering the final days of service with the Luftwaffe.

There was idea that we get rid out of our old MiG-21's and get Luftwaffe F-4's (very cheaply) in the interim period until we buy proper new aircraft (even now there is proposal by Sweden for Grippens)...

From frontline service straight to the museum. I like it.

Ah, groin.

Once again Army has snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory on multiple occasions; just like they have for every stinking quarter for the last ten years. I'm thinking of talking to Artillery Branch and see if we can't hook up with the Marines, or somebody. Woof !!

Well, dont blame the Cav.

Maybe this is why I dont give a rats @ss about football.

As I said, they've migrated to the North Pole during winter. They'll come back to graze during summer.

Fixed. Noted that I only had half the RAM I should have, so I unscrewed a side plate and had a check inside. It seems that the move was a little bumpy, as one of the RAM modules had shaken a little loose. Same thing with the sound card.

Sure. The F-4 Phantom is a 3rd Ggneration jet and the Mig-29 a 4th generation that had its avionics modernized to western standards while having a the superior agility of a sovied 4th Generation fighter.

But then, again: The descision was made not to have too many different types of planes to streamline training, maintenance, replacement parts... With only 24 Migs available and roughly 250 F-4 Phantoms, there wasn't really a choice.

Zombie moose vs. Kamikaze moose. This is starting to sound like something out of Monty Python. Or the worlds worst AAR (tm)

Interesting Simon!

BTW, pitty that many many Merlin RR engines were used (and abused) in speedboat racing after WWII...

Doubtful. Even if they are there they've built houses on top of them. They are also in Birmingham, not somewhere accessible, developed and safe like the Burmese jungle. If they were buried in 1950 then they would be late mark stuff like Mk21 Spitfires which are (comparatively) less valuable.

Besides that, there are only a handful of companies around who could handle the work (if you've got a spare 7 million to spend) and they don't have that much spare capacity. Maybe the chap just wants his flowerbeds turning over?

Wow. Quite the change in weather around these here parts. We'll drop 30 degrees F today and get ~10-12" of the white stuff. Winds gusting to 40 MPH tonight will make for some "interesting" road vis and wind chill (-20 to -30F).

NoDak is getting it worse than we are. Someone got a line on whether Shanilec is still thawed?
