Please note that in Europe (especially Mediterranean Europe: Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece etc.) it is quite common for families to stay together for good (i.e. several generations under one roof)!

In my country this is also the case - we usually own the places we live in (i.e. there are very very few that rent apartments - that is very expensive and not worth it in the long run) so families tend to stay together. About 10 years ago there was a trend that new young families try to go away from parents and buy new apartments with cheap credits / mortgages but this turned out to be very very bad decision because of market crash and crisis after 2007... lots and lots of brand new unsold apartments and houses that are empty and inhabited...


That is rather interesting. There could be worse things than living with family I guess...I can't think of it right now, but..


Wife and I live alone but my mother (who also lives alone since my father passed away 5 years ago) and my wife's mother an sisters (they live together) are all situated in circle of about 3 km wide...

Have to say I envy you guys. Lamb is right on the top of my list of wonderful eats, right behind fresh shot pheasant, duck or quail. But good lamb is hard to get in the States. I looooove lamb! I even like mutton. Lamb is my all-time favorite. Probably from hanging out with you guys and the Aussies.

Anyway, here's a shot of beaners. I'm not all that much of a traditionalist, 'cause I use green peppers, garlic, thyme and cardomom.

Not familiar with 'marrow'. Kown what it is, but don't know how people use it. Your pic shows something like a nice pie or quiche. I'm utterly clueless, so would Ms DivePac be willing to pm me a recipe?

Sorry John, everyone else including Mrs DivePac call them Pumpkins. I've always called it Marrow, because that's what my grandfather called them, and my Grandmother thought that was strange too. Mrs DivePac grew about 30 of them last year, in her garden. She stories them in the top floor of our house, and makes bloody nice soup from out of them too.

Mrs DivePac has a twin sister, but she is currently taken, but the guys a jerk so I'll let you know when shes free.

In Fredricksburg, TX is the "War in the Pacific Museum". I kid you not. I was incredulous at first, but spent some time there on Saturday. I'll post some pictures. An excellent museum, just outstanding. Probably the best 'treatment' of the PTO as an organic whole I've seen anywhere. For anyone that fancies themselves a WWII PTO grog, this is simply a 'must see'.

Did you check out the midget sub?...in the Texas hill country of all places?...lol
