Not only am I a regular nerd, but apparently I'm also a network geek. Someone on Reddit posted this picture with the explanation that it was the IP address they found "the world's most dangerous hacker" at in the show NCIS.

I got the joke.

Skynet?

OK... I see that i have to educate some of our thread brothers here...

The address depicted on the screen is not true Internet address - the address is private one and belonging to local network!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/192.168

BTW, whilst true Internet IP address can be only one in the whole world the private IP addresses can run into billions (i.e. everyone can have 192.168. )...

There is a good run of movies on TCM in the next two weeks that are winners of the Best Picture Oscar, and that I haven't seen yet. DVR time!

Out of town tithe... Stayed yesterday in Alexandra, and had 4 Heineken Lagers last night.

Think I've got a mild hangover today, feels great and haven't had one since new year. Should do it more often methinks, so we are...

going to stay another night and go-out for dinner, living it up I am!

So, let me get this straight, Des. You'd rather stay out till all hours, eating, drinking and making merry with your wife in some exotic locale than flip my turn back?

Priorities, man! Priorities!

Have a great time, mate! Have one for me! CL Perth and company can wait another turn for their fate!

Leo,

Maybe you can help me with a geography question of mine.

My family traveled through Europe together some while ago. We leased a car and drove through much of France, Germany, Italy (God help us...we drove in Italy) and some of the low-lying countries.

At my insistence, we drove into (then) Yugoslavia from Italy. We drove across the border near Trieste (didn't that used to be Yugoslavia-now Italy?) and into Yugoslavia from there. We spent a couple days in the area, visiting some of the beaches (rocky, but beautiful) and other 'touristy' things in the area.

I specifically remember taking a long train ride through a massive underground cavern system. Fascinating and beautiful trip on a miniature underground train. A bit unnerving at times too! Does this sound familiar? Is there a renowned attraction in Western or SW (modern day) Croatia?

Cheers,

Andre.

Andre, from Trieste you enter now day Slovenia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovenia

They do have fantastic cavern system called "Postojna Cave":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postojna_Cave

I think that is where you have been...

But as far beaches go Slovenia has very very small sea coat - IMHO there is 99% possibility that your seaside days were spend in Croatia....

On work this weekend. Flew up to the northern parts (close to my original home) to check out and evaluate one of the courses (Basic course in subarctic environments) that the college are giving in cooperation with one of the northern regiments for the Officers Training Cadet School.

Seems I'm in a funk, just as last time I was up here in January. Temp is, once again, -29C ... but again, blindingly beautiful.
