Pour me one of those, Mike... I just found out I have to pay back taxes...

...ugh...i'm feeling ya, T...my wife has been working with a financial planner lately, and i'm starting to realize that i really needed to pay more attention to what was going on...

WU: "We owe a lot of back taxes this year for switching our IRA's to Roth"
Me: "How the <bleep> did that happen?!?!?"
WU: "Switching to Roth means we have to pay taxes on the money now versus later"
Me: "I understand that...I'm asking why the financial advisor didn't warn us about it"
WU: "Well, she probably did. I must have not understood what she was talking about"
Me: <blank stare, silently cursing myself out> "I'm going to the bar. Need a Jack and coke"

...ain't life grand?...

I haven't even done taxes. I am sure we'll get a refund and I won't be a happy camper. Nothing pisses me off more than a refund....not getting political, but the gvt don't pay me **** to use my money for year.

Thanks to CB---

**** the IRS UNP

Would it make you feel better if I pointed out that in real terms (not CPI, but real inflationary terms) they're actually charging you 3.5-4% to keep your extra money for that year?

Probably not.

I am well aware of that.

Or as T would say.

No.

I agree on the Feds using my money for free and I am essentially paying them to use my money. Like Jeff, I won't get into politics. Not a good thing for a board like this that does a great job keeping out of such a dangerous swamp that it can be for a BBS.

I used to, when I was single and had very little financial investments, try to be +/- $100 on my taxes each year. Usually, I would be +/- $25 with my efforts. Now, I went and got married, had a couple of kids, bought a house, set up some investments for my kids future, etc. One year, my wife didn't put in for taxes to be withheld with a temporary teaching position at Vanderbilt University and we had to use her income from Jan-Apr for that position to pay the taxes for the previous year... Now, I am happy if I am just plus something, although I have been able to keep it under $1000 for the last couple of years.

That's ideal, nashvillen. Getting a little something back beats hell out of cuttin' 'em a check, that's for sure. Emotionally, it just feels like I'm *paying* them to physically abuse me over a barrel when I write that check. It's worth the small loan.

Woke up at 7:15am on a Saturday to the sound of my son puking. Man, we've been through the wringer with respiratory, diarrhea and puking bugs with the kids this season. Still, he'll miss his sister's b-day party tonight, which is a bummer.

Morning tithe... Cool this morning and mist around the mountains of the Alps this morning, looking out my window to the north, looks very middle-earthiness it does.

Really sorry to hear about your boy this morning, hope it clears up soon.

Getting really [replacement word]-off with my Doctors, they've now say that they probably won't operate. Thats after putting me though two weeks of bloody tests, some of them damn painful (CT biopsy). Along with the stress of preparing for a life threatening operation, and just plain messing up my life up. They're just so thick sometimes and treat me like a bloody lab-rate, and not a breathing human-being the same as them.

For lots of the adult streaming programming, yeah. Amazon prime is just as good for the streaming, and probably cheaper.

We use the hell out of our Netflix with the kids' streaming programming. We're also old school and still have the 1 DVD at a time program. All that for like $18.50. It's a pretty good deal if you use what is offered.

Wife and I are at 0 (we don't need to pay any more tax nor we can get any money back from the state)... this is good news (I spend several day last week calculating everything)...

Spring is here as well!

We have bright sunshine and blue skies (temperatures in the morning are still around 0 degrees centigrade, but during day they rise up to +1- degrees Centigrade - in direct sunshine it feels like +20 degrees centigrade)!

Wife and I got some rather strong cold last week... we are still recovering (although we both had to work because yearly reports had to be filled by Friday 1st of March)...

Good morning, you lot.

Boy's on the mend this morning, which is good.

Today is daughter unit's 6th b-day. She had a party with 15 of her closest friends at her gymnastics studio. I stayed home with the boy, which was probably the better part of the deal (1 vomitting 8 YO boy vs. 15 screaming 6 YO gymnastics-outfitted girls), while Mrs. Chickenboy ran static for the girl's party.

Daughter wanted waffles for breakfast, so we're going out in a bit.

Sunny day here, but cold. Gee, what a surprise. It won't get up past 0C.
