Well, I will not have this thread in the second page while F1 is relevat...which just happens to be 10 months out of the year...LOL.

I don't know...its a toss up with the second testing session. Lewis did well, but so did Alonso and Lotus.
warspite1

Lewis remains consistent in his mantra - WE NEED MORE DOWNFORCE!! He seems pretty resigned to not being in a position to challenge for wins, at least at the start of the season. One more test session before the season starts!!!

Before you say anything WarSprite....just let me endulge the freak for a moment...

What is so special about Danica Patrick in a bikini? I would rather look at a car instead of this...

I think the one I posted in the Aussie Beauties thread was better, but that is not saying much is it? Maybe Rtwfreak goes for the 10-year old schoolboy figure

Meanwhile, back to the cars - the pace of the Red Bull yesterday looked ominous.....

Lets hope its not another 1988 - that would be boring

Yes, the 15/16 season was perhaps quite the snore fest.

No sir, I have hopes on Lotus this year. Not so much for winning constructors but for win a few races in general. Why Renault ever 'left' the sport I'll never know, perhaps you can shed some light on this? It can't be Piquet Jr. nonsense could it?

Anyways, I believe this year the bulls get speared by McLearn or Ferrari.

Renault have come and gone from the sport (as a manufacturer) since the late 70's when they introduced their turbo.

I suspect they realised the best way to get bang for buck is to give their engine to a specialist team e.g. Williams, Red Bull etc - that is where they achieved their biggest success.

So what's your favorite track, past or present? I have to say mine is Spa, I just love Eau Rouge of old. The elevation changes are great and the sweeping corners are a good test of nerve.

Spa-Francorchamps
Osterreichring (before they bastardised it in the name of safety) - watching those turbos round the Boschcurve!!
Imola (before they bastardised it in the name of safety)
Zandvoort
Kyalami (original layout)
Brands Hatch

but the real Big in Ferrari team is Alonso, one of the best
pilot of all time

That's debatable....don't get me wrong, I'm a Alonso fan, more so then a Vettle fan, but he really needs to start winning championships to go into the 'Best of All Time' category.

mmm...well, you're right. Maybe I did get a little too enthusiastic...
But, speaking of modern times, is one of the few that manages to entertain
(and obtain great results) despite not having the best car, like Hamilton.
Another very good pilot in my personal classification is the only F1-kamikaze:
ladies & gentlemans, here is Mr.Kobayashi! Banzai!

Watched my only live race in Spa. Great course. Corners, straights, hills, weather change, sun on one side of the circut rain on the other half. So much to think about with the setup.

Was able to walk down a part of the circut and boy is the Eau Rouge steep. I saw what the circut looked like after the race, saw how much rubber was on the dirty side of the track, rubber balls laying all over the place.

A day I'll always remember.

Mat

Look at that mutha.... - This must be pre-1977 as the Hella Licht chicane is missing. What a circuit! I remember arriving for practice for the 1987 Austrian Grand prix and there was a thunderstorm of Wagnerian proportions going on - the Styrian mountainside was completely shrouded in battleship grey cloud and mist. Wow!! Drivers really earned their money on days like that....

Thats a awesome pic of the track. You can definitely tell that it wouldn't fit in the modern era with the cornering. Let alone the lack of 'proper' spectator support areas

...and this is why Brands Hatch got my vote. Can you believe how close we were able to stand to the actual track - WITH NO CATCH FENCING OBSCURING THE VIEW?!?!?

Druids Corner - a 180 degree hairpin - 26 turbo-powered cars powering up the hill - FANTASTIC!!

Oh and it was the scene of Sir Nigel of Mansell's first ever Grand Prix win in 1985

Well! There's a turn up for the books... Lewis posted a VERY fast time in testing today

Obviously no idea what settings they were running compared to Ferrari, Red Bull et al, but you have to take encouragement from that..

Sadly Eccelston has made F1 into a whore going wherever the money is.... One day after he has left Europe behind and it races in near empty stadia in dictator led countries his successors will wonder where it all went wrong....

I remember Watkins Glen back in 1978. The crowd was so large that they lost all control over it. I recall seeing people climb over the fence and sit on the guardrails! I spent most of the race in a tree down in the "Anvil" so that I could see over the crowds.

Was that the reason Watkins Glen disappeared from the calendar around then?

Yep, the lack of crowd control was a major reason it was dropped from the F1 schedule - not the only one, but a major contributor.

Okay fans....time to make predictions!!! You have to post who you think is going to battle whom for the title and what manufacture is going to win the constructors.

My pick for Title Battle is Alonso versus Räikkönen down to the wire in the US or Brazil.

Constructors is going to be Lotus over the Bulls.

I know that my picks should allude to Ferrari and Lotus but I lost faith in Massa to keep up with Alonso. The best duo IMO is the Red Bull team. Webber is a great second to Vettel. On the other hand, I think Grosjean will have matured enough to be a asset for Lotus and be on Räikkönen's rear wing for quite some time this season.

Whats your predictions?

Title Battle: obviously all just a guess as we don't know what to make from the testing. Reading Gary Anderson's summary though - and assuming he is correct, the cars to watch are Red Bull, Ferrari, Lotus, Mercedes and McLaren. If that is true you can discount Massa and Grosjean. Perez, Webber, Raikkonnen and Rosberg can also be removed for different reasons. That leaves Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton and Button. Remove Button unless the car is far better than the others.

And then there were three....

Heart of course says Lewis - but can Mercedes really have turned things around that much? Not convinced sadly.
Head says Vettel (but I desperately hope not).
Alonso is always a factor.

Constructors: Red Bull have a strong and experienced line up - can't see anyone beating them again.

It's not a F1 news, anyway...Kobayashi sign with Ferrari to drive in the GT FIA World
Endurance Championship (WEC). His first event will be the Silverstone 6 Hours on 14 April.
