After 70-80 years, the USSR had basically succeeded in suppressing all elements of radical Islam...until it was again reintroduced thanks to our friends at the CIA.

Awww...shucks. You said 'friend'. Consider that payment with a fully extended historical middle finger held high for our 'friends' in the KGB over the years. Their overt / covert support of the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam made those very costly affairs in American lives. I've got zero sympathy for the Russians and what their meddling in the affairs of others hath wrought in the 20th century.

Now, looking forward, if the ledger's square-perhaps we can work together on some of these things moving forward. We both have a vested interest in beating down the calls for an islamic caliphate in central Asia. I can't believe that we can't find some common ground.

Either that or we can just let your Russian 'friends', the Chinese and Indians deal with a Taliban resurgent and a failed Pakistani state themselves. Because that triumvirate did such a bang up job the first time around.

You know, you really make me scratch my head pretty hard sometimes. By "friends" I was referring to the fact that some jackass thought it would be a good idea to arm and support religious fanatics with medieval ideas on government, relation of the sexes and quite a few other things based, seemingly, only on the notion that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That idea doesnt even work in grade school with any consistency, much less the real adult world. As a result of the aforementioned jackasses actions, a region which had heretofore been relatively stable with regards to religious strife, suddenly regressed about 500 years, and I draw a direct causational line from that to 9/11. I really didnt think I would have to explain that, but there you, and you historical middle finger, are.

But you would like to go further by bringing in Korea and Vietnam. As you wish. Both conflicts had active duty Soviet military personnel involved in aiding the communist side. They were not KGB operations, as you seem to think. They were both conflicts fought on a national scale by both sides, albeit with significantly less commitment by the Soviets. The fact that you seem to be upset about American lives is what truly puzzles me, because as far as I can tell, American troops had as much business being there as Soviet troops, plenty of whom lost their lives also. Thats what happens in wars, even stupid, undeclared ones. It seems to me that the ones who should be really upset are the Koreans and Vietnamese.

But what really makes me wonder is that I think you have some sort of strange idea that American political chestnuts about "making the world safe for democracy" and such and such being "in American national interest" makes the least bit of sense, or has the least modicum of validity outside American politics. The fact that American actions based on these self serving ideas have gone unchallenged for 3/4 of a century does not lend them the smallest bit of credence since they were accomplished by indisputable force, not though any sort of international consensus. So as much as I feel that I'm telling a kid that theres no Santa Claus, I'm afraid I have to introduce you to the idea that the world at large does not give a rat's ass about our national interests and sees our attempts to make the world free for democracy as duplicitous, disingenuous, propagandist claptrap. Which is why you might notice that while foreigners might like individual Americans, they see our country as somewhat of brainless, insatiable beast.

Now, in a certain sense I agree with you. If the two sides in the Cold War had just left the rest of the world the f**k alone instead of fighting proxy wars, it would have been a much better place. In fact, I have zero sympathy for either side. If there was international will to cooperate, I think the US, Russia and China could have long ago put an end not only to radical Islam but a myriad of other conflicts such as the various bloodbaths in Africa. Unfortunately, every country has its "national interest" and theyre all equally asinine and counterproductive to world harmony. But until and unless the politicians of the world pull their heads out of their butts and start acting for the common good, instead of personal gain, not a thing will change. I dont know when this might happen but I'm 100% sure that I wont live to see it.

So many inane assumptions. So little time to explain them. And this is not the place.

In terms of political talk on this thread, don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff.

Early Morning Tithe!

To open up another political thread A part of the CMS [center for medicare and medicaid services] decided to increase primary care reimbursement by 26% .. this is a good thing because it equated NP's with MD for the same services rendered . [I am in acute care so I have no dog in this hunt] . Another part of CMS I would assume influenced by the AMA, writes in specfic regulations that only MD's/DO's are eligible, and NP must get an MD to supervise/sign off. The problem here in AZ is NP's can be totally independent, and do not lrequire MD supervision ike many other states.

The result, more patients that can be covered but less providers that can provide services. The real problem in AZ is providing primary care in rural areas to vulnerable populations. Many MD's do not want to live in these rural areas, but NP's will fill the role within thier scope of practice. But by not reimbursing to the full level of the service it is very difficult to do so.

I am sure this is going to eventually going to work itself out but in the meantime chaos might reign.

What is very confusing to me is the reaction from the public. "That Obama care now has me seeing a nurse!" The facts be damned these days .. Like Lenz (2004) "In the sample of 406 adults, no differences were found between the groups in health status, disease-specific physiologic measures, satisfaction or use of specialist, emergency room or inpatient services. Physician patients averaged more primary care visits than nurse practitioner patients. The results are consistent with the 6-month findings and with a growing body of evidence that the quality of primary care delivered by nurse practitioners is equivalent to that by physicians. "

NP's want to spend more time, are equalvant in results. but they get paid less.

We are not talking about competing here . we are talking about providing vulnerable populations access to health care ... I resolve to the fact Man in general is a selfish beast ...

OK back to your local thread ...

Another long day. A new engine is now fitted in the Hurricane. All that remains is for the boss to break it tomorrow...

Symon my friend, you been doing the ganja too much! Re-read what I said. I was talking about irony. IRONY. Remember that? Apparently English lit at MIT skipped over that that . I wasn't attacking the Irish (I'm partly contaminated with that type of blood myself). So I'm assuming you started the John Jameison too early this afternoon and didn't finish reading my post before you started singing "The men behind the wire". Re-read my post again. PLEASE. And see if it's more like, "Wow isn't it IRONIC", than whatever you seemed to think it meant. My head is firmly in the sunshine (in fact I'm seeing it for the 1st time this year and I'm about to mow the lawn and take advantage of it!).

No, haven't had any good Michoacan or Oxaca for long time now. Politics has wiped all that out so all I can get is pathetic Mexican Stalk or Oregon kief (yeah, right) or Kansas Grain. Remember back when you could get honest Acapulco Gold; cleaned, no seeds or sticks, just righteous leaves? Or Oaxca red (Panama red)? It's all 'cause of politics, that lets the cartels rape us.

It is indeed IRONIC, that in the universe of cesspools, and bottom feeders and creatures that dwell within, that the Provisional Wing of the IRA has foregone active operations and has joined Sinn Fein in making a new Ireland.

Lots of burbling, topsy turvy, craziness is out there. This is, indeed a universe of cesspools. There is irony in any situation. Just hope you have the intelligence to understand the differences; with all due respect to my UK friends.

Lol, I'm watching my 7th BG B-17Es troll-sniping Ki-27s, then going on to bomb the snot out of their airfield at Buna! Few are the times that I've actually laughed out loud during a turn resolution in the game.

I really wish you wouldn't do that. I try to explain , make peace and make nice. Did you really, really have to get that one last dig in questioning my intelligence? John you need to pet a dog, have a drink, go outside in the sun. I'm not your enemy, or for that matter anyones. But if you really HAVE to get your digs in ,how about PM'ing me, or e-mailing me? The Thread's not for conflicts, real or imagined. Let's keep it a nice place , and unlocked.

CB, good morning to you, sir. I have too much to do today to stay on the computer all day. So, you might be wasting time, but, then again, I may be joshing you about not being on the computer and you might want to stay around and watch.

I will let you figure that out for yourself...

Yep. The engine RPM is hunting, which it shouldn't do if the constant speed unit is working properly. Still, I've got tomorrow off, so it's not my problem (temporarily at least!)

I was referring to the broke PZ, that being the sick child. Kind of hits you in a bad spot that is hard to describe.

After getting through an engine change in three days, I'd say it's a similar feeling. Still, off today It's probably a good thing as I was ready for snoozing at about 1600 yesterday.

The 'best' bit is that there a few people on the Facebook page who don't believe we've changed the engine Ah well, it's something to put in this year's assessment I suppose. It'll be another busy week, two* fighters serviceable as well as the Lanc and Dak and it's PDA week (where the pilots get the authorisation to do their displays) so that'll be fun.

*Maybe as high as three by Wednesday!

Were there Cossacks? lot's of big, ugly cossacks?

Give that man a cigar! Although to be fair, Cossacks are generally ugly, and usually big.

I'll give you one more. The big, ugly Cossacks were also in Georgia in the when the Georgians begged for Russian protection against the "warriors of Islam" and agreed to be annexed. An interesting tidbit which the western media conveniently forgot not that long ago when they were having that circlejerk about the mean, nasty Russian Commies oppressing the freedom-loving Georgians. Incidentally, I didnt see a lot of outrage about the more recent events in Georgia. I guess we only care when the Russkie Commies are involved.

I think when a lot of people heard about Georgia and the Russian invasion , there 1st thought was "Russians? In Georgia? What did they do, fly into Jacksonville then cross the border?" Sad, but hey. They are public school graduates.

Honestly now, can you think of another person in the history of the United Stated that actually wanted to invade Georgia besides Willie T? And even he would have rather invaded NYC, I think.

It was just on his way to the beach.
