Meanwhile here's a pic of soldiers with not much on.

Same group, as far as I can tell, after an about face was ordered.

Is that link safe for work, Cap'n?

In what army can you find five hot women all in one picture? The Israeli of course....i wonder if this was just a random sample. I don't ever remember seeing this in my military days, but BAM's are generally not as feminine.

I was in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities in 1979-80 while serving with UNEF II. Since military service is compulsory for Israeli youth of both genders, I can guarantee there is a high proportion of hot women in the service.
Don't know why the high command is upset about their young soldiers who are just "thinking outside the box".

Good luck with that, what could possibly go wrong...

Two words... "Michael Douglas"

Wait. Michael Douglas sent nude pictures of himself to Captain Mandrake?

CB, you may not be aware of Michael Douglas' recent on-air interview in which he attributed his throat cancer to the HPV, which he said "without being too specific" , came from performing an act that is defined in part by the Latin word "lingus" which means "tongue". I hesitate to use his "non-too-specific" term in full on this forum.

I think what he was trying to say that Human Papiloma Virus is a cause of oral/throat cancer not that it was the established cause in his case (he was also a multi-decade smoker and drinker). He is actually right about HPV being a proven cause.

This miscommunication did NOT make his ex wife very happy.

Not sure his current wife was all that enthused either.

Regarding the etymology of the word to which BB is referring, it is a common misconception that it is latin based. In fact it was adopted from the name of an Irish airline.

Speaking HPV vaccine, this thing is a hard sell. For the girls, at age 11 or so, the parent thinks the doc is crazy to bring it up.

For the boys they seem less worried about the implications (double standard) but the rationale for the vaccine is a bit more strained.

"It helps to prevent penile, oral and anal cancers". This is usually followed by several seconds of slack-jawed incomprehension...then an awkward recongition and averting of the eyes.

I am really a terrible salesman. I tried to sell frozen steaks one summer. I lasted one day then I quit.

WJD SCTF's (including Kirisihima) north of Luzon seem to be headed NE. We could pursue with Wasp but we have ZERO intel on Formosa and no surfce recon past about 200 miles from northern Luzon. It doesnt seem prudent. I think I know how JJ deduced a possible landing at Laoag. One recon group have flown there 4 d in a row. I blame the stafff.

The main portion of 7th Aus turned tail and retreated to Lucena. I blame a staff flunkie for not pushing the "remain on station" button. They will head back North to Iba.

Yorktown just passed Brisbane heading North. 8th Aus Div is loading at Sydney and is prepped for Aparri.

A single DD is sent to raid Aparri tonight.

Lingayen now has a WJD unit in the hex. AS is up to 26 there. Not very much. We will try to land some tanks tonight and transport 503rd PIR from Iba by air.

Hey if you live in Texas you wouldn't have to sell it. Good ol' boy Rick Perry mandated it by Executive order. For the girls only. I didn't even know it available for the boys.

Iba/Lingayen (the town not the airline): I reduced the number of fighters at Lingayen because it was threatened by land attack and reduced the fighters at Iba to put in C-47's to transfer 503rd PIR to Lingayn. This induced the Emperor's boys to attack. The Corsairs and USAAF planes are from Iba/Lingayen. The Wildcats and F6F's are from the carriers at least 80 miles away. I doubt they wre that much a factor. North Carolina takes 3 x 250 Kg eggs.

Morning Air attack on TF, near Iba at 78,75

There was a threat of attack at Lingayen...so the B-24's paid a visit. It proves to be a combat engineer regiment and they are pretty well smacked down. There is no ground attack.

Burma: Quiet, almost two quiet. I thing Rangoon has a EF-5 tornado every night. The 24's are grounded again. Some Dutch medium bombers get ambushed over Bhamo. I think if I were assigned a mission over a place called "Bhamo" I would stick some fake clouds on the mission map in the squadron commander's office.

We were exploring the possibility of using Spanish language end of visit instruction sheets generated by our Electronic Medical Record (known by us as POS).

One problem is the special Spanish symbols like the "tilde" are not "enabled". This means for laymen "it doesn't work". This is dangerous in Spanish.

"ano" with no tilde = "anus"

"ano" with a tilde = "year"

So, if you try, around the holidays, to wish a patient a "prosperous year" after their hemorrhoid surgery it could be muy, muy, malo.

IRL South Dakota was hit on the turret roof by a 250kg bomb during the battle of Santa Cruz. The turret crew heard a heavy "thump", and went about their business.

The only casualties were on the bridge where bomb splinters were not stopped by glass windows.

We did an Electronic Medical Record "system upgrade" this week. Hah, I say! "Upgrade" my posterior! A couple of screen size changes and a few font changes from the old Stratford-on-avon font they were using. In exchange we get a shedload of completely useless bull shed to comply with the "Affordable Care Act". The standard is called "meaningfull use" as if to rub salt in the wound. Then, in a consumate act of sadism, they give us ICD-10 which is a massive compendium of numeric codes for every diagnosis. There are like 50 codes for ******* turtle attacks. "Turtle assault resulting in open wound to <face, L 5th toe, L 4th toe, L 3rd toe......buttocks, scrotum>". A group of pinheads in Washington thought this would help control medical costs by "increasing efficiency". Soon to follow, no doubt, is a rule that the antibiotic is not covered for turtle bites to the ass because the NIH funded a study on it. I am going to purposely use the least specific code I can use in every situation just on principle.

Never have so many complained so much for so little.

Bataan flipped to Arried control passively because it was ungarrisoned and we had the surrounding bases (except for Manira and Clark).

Turns out it has 48K suppries and nearly 2000 fuel. The closest SOUPAC base that well supplied is Auckland.

7th Aus Div accidentally returned to Lucena then accidentally started to unload there.

I blame the staff.

8th Aus Div just left Sydney for Aparri.

Br. 2nd Div along with some armor almost loaded at Port Hedrand.
