Good Morning, gentlemen. Today, I take my daughter to get her driving learners permit. If you are in Murfreesboro, TN for the next six months or so, stay off the sidewalks!

Good Morning all.

I'm in Grand Forks and I don't feel safe. Maybe if I move to Churchill, Manitoba.

Been there. Not safe in any event in the late afternoons

Safer than teens and old people behind the wheel. I'm caught in the middle.

As the old joke goes. When I die I'd like to go like my grandfather, in his sleep...not like the other poeple in the the car, screaming and yelling.

Three months behind my son. The sidewalks of Raleigh have been a dangerous place this summer. Honestly, he's doing very well.

The appraisal is in and is higher than our contract price for the new house. One more hurdle cleared (the one that scuttled the previous house purchase) and we're on track to close on the purchase on 8/23.

Dude .. one must do what one must do to realize their vision. Hope you get it and hope it has a spa out back or at least a hot tub.

Artichokes are getting ripe here. Mom can't really dig into the heart, so I cut them in half, dig out the grotty cilia over the heart, and steam them. She's cool with manipulating her hand and pulling off the leaves and dipping them into Dr John's Ultimate Artichoke sauce. Russians call them Ar ti choa' ki. They are a liesurely vegetable, served to people who enjoy each other's company. Highly recommended.

Ciao. JWE

Okey dokey, so here ya go. Get some artichoki, trim off the bottom, and slice them in half. Then scoop out the gnarly cillia in the middle and pull off a few of the the sticky, pointy, interior leaves, and this is what you get. And yes indeed, that is a Paula Dean cutting board, thank you very much.

Can be done a couple ways. Classical steaming is always good but you need a righteous dipping sauce. And then, perhaps, sprinkle them with olive oil and spices of your choice, and put them in the oven, or on the grill. Maybe even use sesame oil and garlic. Woof !!

Ciao. JWE

Artichokes in the wild... They are pretty easy to grow, and you have varieties that will endure frost, and others that are fine with hot summers. A plant will last several years, but it takes quite a bit of real estate, it can grow up to 2 metres, and there is a trade off between having a few big artichokes and many small ones.

Weekend - Tithe.

No internet access at the temporary apartment, so I'll likely be scarce over the weekend around here, but not at the apartment pool.

Have a great weekend, Brothers!
