Well, if you count noon as morning when you get up at 10 due to being in the emergency department with your mother all night and into the early morning because the chemo drugs caused a clot to be thrown into her lung, and that the doctors treated effectively and she is resting comfortably in the hospital waiting on her blood thinners that she will now be taking to take effect a good thing. This is a Good Morning to all (And, after reading the Hobbit again for the uncounted time) I am of the all of the Gandalf good mornings rolled into one today.

Just tired...

Also, barely know what is going on in the Ukraine. Such a different perspective on the world when you have something local to distract you. Usually, I am all up on this stuff. Need to do some surfing this afternoon.

Glad they nipped that in the bud.

Kind of crappy that matrix shut down conversation over the Ukraine because of one whiner. Most of the discussion was rational without name calling that you see on a lot of fourms. Very undemocratic....

There is no democracy here. People need to understand this finally.

That is something all need to know when they are posting online. Unless you own the site, you don't control it and whoever does can do what they want. Don't like it? Leave. It is your right. No one is chaining you to a site.

Speaking from a moderator's shoes for several other sites.

Oh you are absolutely right! However , it is a commercial enterprise , and we , presumably are its customers. Matrix can restrict my postings as often as they please. But times are tough you know, and electronic war games are hardly a necessity. I know that I really could live without the 4 or 5 I buy from them every year. These days , how you treat customers DOES matter.

Let me explain: although I'm not currently in business , I have been in the past , in retail and other customer service businesses. Say for example someone was disruptive in my store , I'd either ask them to leave or have the police remove them. I would never tell my other customers "GO away! This store is closed!" just because one or so persons misbehaved.

Matrix could , if so inclined , either warn off the offenders or kick them out. Then delete the remaining posts. Instead they have chosen to sound like my second grade old maid teacher scolding the whole class for the behavior of another. Sorry my friend, I'm not a student. I'm a customer.

Do you know when you'll leave?

Some point between now and July. In theory I'm ready to move, but in actuality I'm nowhere near! I've not done the courses they're making me do, I've not contacted the section down there, I don't have any cold weather gear and I've got no transport down to Brize sorted.

You should have a turn in your inbox btw, it got sent last week.

Cold weather gear? I thought you were tough!?

Rumor has it there aren't many trees down there to block the wind, either.

Are you suggesting that your administrative aspects of the RAF or the British military may not be fully informed of your needs? That there may be inefficiencies or duplication of effort in future deployment arrangements? Because that would never happen in any other...

Wait...never mind...I was thinking of something else.

I'm suggesting they're fully aware of my needs but are terrible at their jobs. They already tacked an extra (pointless) course onto my prep work after I avoided a similar one a few months back. I can't wait to spend a week at Brize Norton learning about large aeroplanes.

It's free stuff. I don't need it, but it's about time the dullards working in clothing stores actually let me have some kit for a change. I don't know what the rest of the world is like, but in the RAF at least, the stackers apparently pay for all our kit out of their own money.

I confess that I had to Google "stackers" and sift through definitions!

What, do they think you're faking going to the Falklands?! "Do you really need a warm coat?" Sheesh.

Re-sent my last turn in case there's been a glitch somewhere. In case you've done a reply to that one and sent it to me, I think you need to resend it as well.

Hi all,

You know , I'm foolish. I keep thinking that there ought to be somewhere where I can discuss strategy and tactics in a historical as well as current perspective. No one seems to be able to do this without getting personal. Is there any where in the internet that I can find a place where mature , intelligent adults can get together and discuss such matters , without pissing off each other as well as the authorities? Probably not.....I'm thinking it's time for what seems to be my long annual vacation from the forum. Later friends!

What's happening Steve?

I was away (extremely busy at work) for just two days and now I find that you are leaving...

Tired this morning. When my local hockey team is playing in California the 0130 finishes are rough the next morning when the alarm goes off at 0530.
