ORIGINAL: Symon I’m very sorry to hear about your pain, my friend. Believe me I can understand. I have had spondylitic arthritis in my L2 and L3 for about 20 years, maybe. My L2 pad no longer exists, and L3 is going the same way. To get technical, the cauda equina (the nerve bundles) run inside the spinal process (bones). The pain you feel is the Anulus fibrous Invertebral disc material (of your spinal discs), pressing against your spinal nerve bundles. Yes, that’s a mouthful, but that’s what’s happening. Doctors cannot treat it. As you say, the risks are worse than the benefits. I lived through the hard parts, and now have episodes once every two years, for about a week. I’m training my body to account for my lower back issues. Lots of good things out there. Be glad to talk to you about them Ciao. John My pain is primarily in the L5 nerve, which is impinged, and the L4 nerve, which is displaced. I've got quite a long road ahead of me, going by what my physio and doctor say.
