The "Generic Depth Charges" on Soviet vessels have far too great a range compared to the named ones on Western vessels.

It's included in game. In editor you can choose between CWDB or DB3000.

The 1944-era Sunderlands operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the ASW and maritime patrol roles from 1951 to 1967 (http://www.airforce.mil.nz/about-us/news/airforce-news/archive/132/the-short-sunderland.htm ) are in the database

How about the Sprint and Spartan Missiles (and radars) the US developed? I know they were deployed and then removed almost immediately but it might be interested to explore their use otherwise.

Talking about World War II platforms. I would like to see HMS Hood. We now have a lot of World War II platforms, I think it would be interesting to include Hood. Also I think another "What If" candidate could the Battlecruiser HMS Tiger (cut in the 1930s because of the Naval Treaties).

Some of these may have been mentioned before, I'm just copying over the list I've begun in another post as it's been suggested I post them in the CWDB and DB3000 posts from the devs.

Database errors/various other errors:

CWDB Canada: Arrow Mk.2 = Arrow Mk.2 should be powered by the Orenda Iroquois engine, only the 5 Mk.1s were powered with the American-made P & W J75s
CWDB United States: YF-12A = range seems to be quite low considering the platform it's based off of. This aircraft hits bingo fuel too late like the XF-108 below and crashes about 70nm away from base.
CWDB United States: XF-108 Rapier = hits bingo fuel far too late. If you go on a straight run until bingo fuel, aircraft runs out of fuel some 100nm or more away from base.

Suggested new Database entries:

CWDB Canada: Arrow Mk.1 = already exists as the "Arrow Mk.2" in the current database.
CWDB Soviet Union: La-15 Fantail = was introduced in 1949 and retired in 1953 with some 235 produced.
CWDB Soviet Union: Yak-17 Feather = an improvement based on the Yak-15 introduced in 1948 and retired in the early 1960s with some 430 produced. Also served in the Polish, Romanian, and PLA Airforces.
CWDB Soviet Union: Yak-23 Flora = a further development of the Yak-15/Yak-17 introduced in 1949 and retired in 1951 (retired in 1956 in the Polish Airforce) with 310 produced. Was utilised by the Soviet, Polish and Romanian Airforces.
CWDB Soviet Union: Yak-27 Flashlight-C = 3 different entries, the Yak-27 with is only cannon armed. Yak-27K which was missile armed and Yak-27R which was a tactical reconnaissance aircraft. Only the reconnaissance version was actually put into service and served from 1960 into the late 1970s.
CWDB Soviet Union: Be-10 Mallow = Flying boat.
CWDB Soviet Union: M-50 Bounder = Supersonic bomber design. 2 prototypes built.

Hiya

UK ship R12 HMS Hermes needs to have its aircraft facilities upgraded to reflect its ability embark Buccaneers.
at the moment it can only take medium sized A/C while the Buccaneer is rated as a large aircraft in the database

"she was first refitted in 1964-66 to operate Sea Vixen and Buccaneer aircraft having her flight deck widened ( now 160ft max.) to starboard of the island in an "Alaskan highway""

The generic depth charge has been fixed, but the BMB-1 Depth Charge (Weapon #1604) still has the too-long range of 2 nm.

Checked to make sure it was indeed much shorter

I have mentioned earlier the possibility of adding generic suicide explosives as weapons, but I wonder if it would make sense to do it as ships and facilities? Each of them would have a weapon, but one with no range (or maybe 0.001 miles, if it has to have some range to work), and with enough explosive power to destroy the ship/facility itself and any nearby targets.

Suicide Bomber (Terrorist) <-- possibly modeled as the Downed Pilot, but with a warhead?
IED (Terrorist)
Land Mine (Generic)
Anti-Tank Mine (Generic)
Vehicle (Truck Bomb) (Terrorist) <-- 500-lb. warhead?
Vehicle (Truck Bomb, Nuclear) (Terrorist)

And watercraft...

Civilian Boat (Suicide Bomb) <-- 500-lb. bomb for this one and the other non-nuclear ones?
Fishing Boat (Suicide Bomb)
Civilian Dhow (Suicide Bomb)
Civilian Junk (Suicide Bomb)
Container Ship, Feedermax (Nuclear Bomb)
Tanker, General (Nuclear Bomb)

Anyway, it's just a thought. Maybe this would be an easier way to do things?

Minor point...it occurs to me that if these are added they probably should be named differently so it is not obvious when one encounters one of these things what it is. If something shows up as Civilian Dhow (Suicide Bomb) in the game display, after all, one would probably just sink it rather than let it get close enough to cause damage. :)

Il-2m3's gun should be 23mm x 2 + 7.62mm x 2 forward and 12.7mm x 1 rear
Loadout:
Could Il-2 carry FAB-500 x 2 ? It is larger than its max payload(600kg). And RS-132 rocket is missing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-2

Il-10 has same problem.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-10

Po-2 was used in Korean war. Maybe need to add it?

Ok..first shot at this..

for BOTH CWDB and DB3000:
Argentine Daggers and Mirages should NOT have ATA refuel capability..

loadout requests:
A-4B need a 3x Mk82 LDGP/2xDT as Standard War Loadout NOT the 6xMk82s. Also change title from A-4B Caza to just A-4B.
A-4C need a 2x Mk82 and a 4x Mk82 both with 2xDTs as Standard War Loadout.
A-4Q need a 2x Mk82 and a 4x Mk82 *snakeye* with 2x DT as Standard War loadout. The Navy A-4Qs were the ONLY A-4s to use snakeye 500lbs bombs.

Question:
On the P-2H Neptune...when loading A.244 torps the ready time is 1 hour..... however doing the same loadout but only adding 10xzuni rockets the arm time goes to "10" hours...is that correct?

USS Sealion modified as an APSS/LPSS transport submarine. Using it for a Cuban Missile Crisis scenario.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Sealion_(SS-315)

quote:

A year and one-half later, however, Sealion, along with Perch, was designated for conversion to a troop carrier, and in April 1948, she entered the San Francisco Naval Shipyard for the eight-months conversion. During that period, her torpedo tubes and forward engines were removed, and her forward engine room and forward and after torpedo rooms were converted to berth 123 troops. The forward engine room and after torpedo room were designed for alternative use as cargo space. The wardroom was redesigned for use as an operating room; the beam aft of the conning tower was extended, and a large watertight cylindrical chamber was installed abaft the conning tower to store amphibious landing equipment—including a tracked landing vehicle (LVT).

Hi Folks,

Just a suggestion - US Skipjacks ( S-Girls ) were known as the hotrods of the submarine fleet - they max out at 28 knots in the CWDB - I'm pretty sure they could hit 32 to 33 knots on a good day...
;)

Scott

Hi Paul,

Also - I posted this over on the DB3000 thread - I only recently noted there are two different database managers... I updated the CWDB as well... The updates are in my Dropbox link below... The file contains a batch file to update the description and photos automatically - or - you can just move the files manually if you prefer...

quote:

Hi CV60,

https://www.dropbox.com/s/obmerm43toqc9zy/SCO-DBupd.zip

Try this - if so inclined... I cleaned up some entries with new pix and created descriptions for the US Skipjack, US Permit, and US Sturgeon class submarines as a test... I also prefer my records with a single clean picture 1024 wide by around 500 high or so - of the boats at sea - so I removed all the old images...

The downloaded file has a batch file to do all the install work for you - removes the old images and saves them in case you don't like mine... Just unzip and place the included folder in your DB directory - then run the batch... One click install... Don't run twice without saving your "save" folders - if you want them - as they will overwrite... You can remove my folder once it's run...

I did this for the units in both the DB3000 and the CWDB as well...

I'm not sure why some of the DB entries are for a specific unit such as the Archerfish - so I didn't touch those - only the dated class entries...

Feedback most welcome...

Regards,
Scott
