Because Ormster old chap, not only did we beat Arsenal (a rare event) courtesy of two goals by Sir Harry of Kane, we actually played really well!

Now that you are happy about the Spurs, for once I want to ask you if you recognize this quote?

That's a load of Tottenham, that is. Yeah, a steaming pile of Hotspur.

Do you know where it is from?

It is from the TV-series Red Dwarf. And you should not be to upset about it since you often joke, and make fun, about those you like.

Sadly I believe that Tottenham's progress in the Europa League is about to come to an end against Fiorentina...

..just seen the team sheet. The names designed to strike fear into any Spurs fan are present in the starting line up.... Fazio, Paulinho, Soldado. Oh well, there's always next year (if we qualify).

Tottenham Hotspur

Vs

Fiorentina

Naively played by Arsenal. Maybe they need a manager like Mourinho?

I deny to baiting TD this time.

If you had seen how Arsenal defended against Monaco you would agree with me. It was a disgrace!

Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur

We are just so bad in defence - and there is no finish, no quality to hurt Chelsea when we do get a glimpse of a chance up front.... and if Kyle Walker does have to come off at half-time and is replaced by Fazio, then its going to be 4 or 5-0

I hate football its such a rubbish game

That's easy: it all depends on the size of the Arsenal's wallet. Too small? = no Mourinho. Besides Arsenal (or Wenger) is following this philosophy (at least they were doing that last time I checked): target young talents. Mourinho is more successful, true. The size of the wallets is very different too, so no big deal on my book.

Mourinho doesn't know what to do with creative players, except "defend, period". If he had a chance he'd put Van Gogh (the painter, yes) to break stones and other mundane tasks

Are sure about the wallet sizes - Arsenal vs Chelsea?? With FFP I suspect if anything, its in Arsenal's favour.

BTW yet another trophy for Mourinho today (sadly) - and a great day for Chelsea in the league without even playing as Man City lost.

Yeah, that Eden Hazard - all he does is stand in his own penalty area and hoof the ball upfield

Mourinho is helping develop a precocious talent into a world star.

The Oligarch is losing interest then lately? Or did Arsenal get their own oligarch recently?

No, Hazard is not defending near the GK. Though he will soon do that WHEN they'll face a powerful team: Bayern etc etc Still... he better defends like a lion... or else.

The presence or absence of an oligarch or a sheik or whatever no longer matters. Abramovich cannot throw money at Chelsea anyone without consequences - hence the purchase of Cuadrado had to be financed through the sale of Schurle.

My comment about Arsenal is that their players, in the cup match, had no defence at all. They played all out attack. And since it was match one that is just plain dumb. Or very naive. It has not so much to do about Mourinho but rather that I get mad when I see a team play that stupid. Defence is a important part of football and that was among the worst I ever seen. Youth teams defend better than Arsenal did. I could have understood the all out attack if it would have been the second game and but it was not. Arsenal just gave the win away by players acting like defending were beneath their dignity.

So the Oligarch has some economic problems, I see.

I suspect it has more to do with the new money rules is European football that forbids them to transfer endless amounts of money into their teams.

This is exactly why Holland never managed to win the World Cup (sadly, yes). All out attack is foolish unless you can score more goals than your opponent will ever score. I am not a hardcore supporter of offensive football, by the way.

The Dutch were extremists. Mourinho is another extremist aka all out defense.

???? The Financial Fair Play Rules have nothing to do with Abramovich's personal wealth.

Warspite, is this guy any good?
Not that I follow the 'Fins.

Miami Dolphins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum announced today that Wayne Diesel has been named sports performance director

In his role, Diesel will oversee all of the team’s sports science initiatives and will work closely with the training and strength and conditioning departments. His focus will include player injury prevention and rehabilitation in an effort to reach optimal performance.

Diesel joins the Dolphins after spending the previous eight years (2007-15) as head of medical services with the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club of the English Premier League. With Tottenham, he oversaw the efforts of doctors, physiotherapists, sports scientists, podiatrists, nutritionists and chiropractors, and helped coordinate the medical service department’s work to optimize player recovery and prevent injuries. During his tenure with the Spurs, they defeated Chelsea FC in 2008 to win the Carling Cup and then achieved Champions League status in 2009-10 for the first time in the club’s history.

Never heard of him!! I've heard of his brother Vin though.

Seriously I've not heard his name before - although backroom staff are not normally well known in English football.

I hope he does a good job for you .

I hope he understands that American football players use their upper body a lot more than soccer players.
Vin Diesel would be a good pick, too
