Something you might want to work on in case the Japanese activate the Soviets before your mechanised upgrades are complete.

No helmet but note the kneepads that allow the driver to exit the vehicle at speed if they come under fire.

If y'all are able to behave yourselves here is a political science quiz:

Which current US presidential candidate actually made a contract with M&M Enterprises, Political Consulting Division and purchased half of that candidates Facebook followers?

Out of curiosity, were they purchased with WW II dollars and appreciated to today's dollars or did they use current value?

Knowing the entity involved they may have offered War Bonds (Confederate of course).

Whoa, the portions of 4th Div not yet disembarked turn around and decide to land at Koumac instead. Evidently, they did not know a USMC Def Bn was there.

Pre-Invasion action off Koumac (113,156)

56 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

Japanese Ships
xAK Matsue Maru, Shell hits 3
DD Arashio
DD Tanikaze
TB Sagi
DMS W-4
DMS W-3
DMS W-2
xAP Shanghai Maru

Japanese ground losses:
52 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 6 disabled

They seem to be mostly support troops

Amphibious Assault at Koumac (113,156)

TF 92 troops unloading over beach at Koumac, 113,156

15 Support troops lost from landing craft during unload of 4th Div /1
15 Support troops lost in surf during unload of 4th Div /1
15 Support troops accidentally lost during unload of 4th Div /1
15 Support troops lost overboard during unload of 4th Div /1

I think the casualties we take here are from support fire from the ships. Might be some arty ashore?

Lord Howe Island: HMAS Perth and some Frenchies inflict a serious smackdown on Jap transports at Lord Howe. That's what they get for stealing His Majesty's land..even it wasn't very useful and consisted mostly of a colony of takers waiting for cargo. You see, it's the principle.

It seems JJ's have become incautious after pounding the US Navy for two weeks after a severe staff error. No SCTF for a landing on Lord Howe??
Oh well, the cow had already left the barn and they hold the island..now we can perhaps smack down those ashore so they don't build and airfield.

Day Time Surface Combat, near Lord Howe Island at 100,169, Range 21,000 Yards

Are those Allied inbound amphibs off to the east of NaIC? If so, what are you bringing?

No, retreating AK's and inblound PC's for security duty.

2nd USMC and 8th USMC Regt inbound from the South. 2nd USMC Regt was previosuly inbound but turned around when the carriers showed up....which is still a threat and could ruin the party. They are coming separately with SCTF's.

2 x CA and some DD's will try to sprint to Noumea tonight and tomorrow.

Kiwi engineers trying to buid an airfield on Tanna but they didn't bring enough John Deere's so sending more help from Suva.

US Army RCT inbound to Norfolk to hold the shoulders.

Quick shout out to St Joseph who always seems to lose out to St Patrick in popularity. Their "days" are quite close together and St Joseph has no drinking or party tradition so the poor guy gets short shrift. Even so, there really is no contest who was more saintly. St Patrick was actually personally responsible for the extinction of some species whereas one can imagine this encoutner involving St Jospeph.....

So this 18 year old comes in with a kidney stone after a visit to the ER and a lot of pain meds. He's been taking about 6-8 Tums every day for a year.

I give him a different medicine for heartburn and we send off the stone for analysis....it's 50% Calcium Oxalate. He comes back in for follow-up

FAM: You will need to reduce the use of the Tums, too much Calcium.

18 year old: DONE!

FAM: And make some dietary changes.

18 year old: Ut-oh. <joking>

FAM: <so I decide to play along with his set-up...I pause and put on a grim face> You need to reduce spinach, rhubard and wheat bran.

18 year old: Gee, doc, that's HARSH!

I have always entertained myself by watching who picks bran muffins at a breakfast conference. Seems to me they are either:

1) Severely constipated

2) "Progressive"

3) Both of the above

either you have to be guilted into it or you need the help because nobody is going to make that choice on a voluntary basis. It's fun to guess in which category they belong.

It's always more interesting to see who brings the bran muffins. They are either:

1. Health Nazis.

2. Granola "Progressives".

3. Someone that lived through the depression and is still in the workforce.

4. 1 and 2.

Well, in Southern Calif it is usually the Mexican guy who works for the hotel.

Sometimes they try to disguise the bran muffin so you might think..."Wow! this looks really good, it could be pumpkin and cinamon."...and you want to smell it but nobody wants your nose hairs in their bran muffin so, civilziation takes over and you just take it and...and....you take your first bite with great expectations....and the thing immediately draws all the water of every cell in your mouth...."****! Bastards did it again!"
