I say, our American friends would call this "The Great Arnhem Turkey Shoot"... now we can have a cup of tea, at last

By turn #2, all the German infantry advancing over the bridge was wiped out, mostly by Major Frost directing the fire of the HMG (but the MMG also contributed). In the meantime, the 6pdr killed all the German AFVs.
I abandoned the top right VP Hex on turn 1 (too exposed) and hid two squads in the woods behind it: when the Germans on the right moved to attack, they were caught in the open by deadly para fire and routed.
On the left, the Germans managed to break the two squads holding the two leftmost building hexes, but when they entered the building they met Major Frost and his HMG chaps .
On turn #4, the paras on the right surrounded and eliminated all the Germans there; a lone squad went north, pursuing 2 broken squads and demo-charging them; on the left, the Paras re-occupied the two VP hexes they lost... and then nothing happened on turns #5 and #6.

I will try playing the Germans, just to see if they have a chance to win this scenario (I suspect they don't).

It is true the real challenge is on the German side. I reversed the roles so that it is the British who initially attack because the heroes of the story are the British (my Germanic ancestors, forgive me !!) .
The second reason is that I also wanted less lucky players than you could also win. I was thinking about Zakblood!

i need all the help i can get, and it's my favorite battle of all time

just love the period, the setting, the waste of life from poor planning is something we British have lived on for years, great soldiers, just at time poor leaders, poor plans, and rather odd planning, as it could have been and gone so much better, but in the end didn't.

Playing with the Germans has not been as difficult as I expected.

I lost 4 squads (2 in the north area and 2 of the SS starting on the bridge, killed in CC by a single Para squad and a single AFV (the Luchs), which was killed by 6pdr fire on Turn #1.
In turn #2, the 6pdr crew was eliminated by infantry fire; the AFVs came forward and flooded Major Frost's position with 50 and 75mm HE (with no effect at all ).

At the end of turn #4, the Germans have achieved a major victory and there are no more Paras on the map.

Rico, I regret having to tell you this scenario is not very challenging.

Well, very well, received 5/5!
I am looking for a solution
The fault in Zakblood?
no
The fault to my psychopathic friends?
no
That's it, I'm there
This is because it is a bridge too far !!!

PS: If other lucky players confirm the no-challenging side, i'll update it.

Sint-Oedenrode from both sides (and won Major Victories with both , but with some difficulty): it is not a one-sided slaughter like the Arnhem bridge scenario.

Both sides are going to have massive trouble with OOC units because of the sparse deployment; besides that, Germans have very, very few leaders (which could be a good way to simulate trained but green troops - nice idea, Rico ).

Tank destroyers are very sensitive to infantry and artillery fire (their thin armor does not really matter, considering the opposing AFVs). Perhaps American Shermans would have been more suitable as stand-ins (perhaps using two 76mm-armed vehicles, to somewhat balance the huge performance gap with the 17pdr).

Thanks for your support Rosseau,UP844 and Paullus!

To Carlo,
This is one of my favorite scenarios in Battle Academy Game.
My reasoning is as follows:
1-few German officers to reduce defensive power
2-regarding tanks, cromwells and firefly are not available so I'm already off topic historically.
Replacing the shermans would be fine but I have used them and I like to innovate so as not to bore the player (and be able to trap him!).
My choice is therefore about the tank destroyers which have a great power of fire which are fragile in front of the opposing fire.
Moreover, as the German camp enjoys little anti-tank capability, the HMG can also play this role.

3-If you win this scenario, you are a real troublemaker !!!

Thank you for making all these fine scenarios (and for including some very devious tricks )

1 - I absolutely agree: this will make German line of resistance tough but brittle .
2 - Allied tanks are not as varied as German ones (Shermans or T-34s) but on the other hand there were much more of them (Quantity has a quality all of itself, someone said). As regards to the German lacking AT weapons... what about the Panther & Jagdpanther?(*).
3 - I won it playing with both sides, so you can change my title in the "ToTH organisation" into "troublemaker". I'm sure Peter will agree from the bottom of his heart

(*) when I played the American side, I think I saw a message about a "PzJg IV" starting its engine, but I never saw it (I didn't miss it, either ). When I played the Germans, there was no trace of it, so I suppose it is an AI-only unit: am I right?

No "PzJg IV".a truck of Chianti, maybe

what about the Panther & Jagdpanther?(*).
A formidable pair in the hands of an experienced player.
Against AI, my tank destroyers killed them in one turn!
Unless it was a "PzJg IV"

Perhaps it was a late effect of looking at your psychedelich maps for too much time ... and then "opening the doors of perception" ... and then feelin' groovy .

My TDs fared managed to kill the Panther (with APCR, after a series of "PPPPING!" and losing the M36 in the process), then I had to kill the Jagdpanther in CC (I played the Russians too much in my ASL days, I don't trust decadent capitalist weapons like bazookas)

And now, let's take Nijmegen bridge! General Urquhart has his peculiar way to show his disappointment

Lots of firepower, some basic tactics and little bit of luck

Now the question is: how many 88s are still out there?

In the meantime, the ++++ing 20mm AA guns have slaughtered my infantry (I would have never believed 20mm shells could be so deadly against infantry in stone buildings: when I fire them, nothing happens 99% of the time)

On the other hand, Lt. Chuck Norris of the 82nd Airborne has taken the far end of the Nijmegen bridge

Thanks tons for these rico21!

I haven't had much time to play lately so I've only tried the first scenario twice and managed a draw. I didn't even realize there was a 3rd 88. How did ya'll manage a victory in that scenario? I'll have to give it another shot.

I see that you have met the wolf!
You need more than a ranger to win!

P.S:IK2500,I made this campaign for you and you only play one scenario, you have to buy Kursk DLC to be forgiven
