June 4, 1944 The Allied fleet slowly move in on Shikuka. It's amazing to watch, even more so on this day. The USN DDs moved in first and took out the majority of the MTBs. One survived, burning, and fled into the ocean. As MTB-846 fought it's fire it had a front row seat to watch what looks like the entire Allied armada slide past. Pics posted in succession below. Always good to have a view before complete annihilation. The Allies flew and sank a retreating cargo TF. I'm kicking myself I didn't have better LR CAP here. Won't make that mistake again. Bleeding CAP just didn't arrive, and this was a golden opportunity to reduce the DS a bit. Mad at myself. At Prome the Allied bombardment destroyed two of their units! Siege guns doing their job! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR June 4, 1944 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Time Surface Combat, near Shikuka at 126,45, Range 30,000 Yards Japanese Ships MTB G-846, heavy fires Allied Ships CV Enterprise CV Hornet CV Essex CV Bunker Hill CVL Independence CVL Princeton CVL Belleau Wood BB Washington CA Indianapolis CLAA Atlanta DD Sampson DD Warrington DD Benham DD Ellet DD Lang DD Stack DD Sterett DD Clark CL Houston II -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Time Surface Combat, near Shikuka at 126,45, Range 30,000 Yards Japanese Ships MTB G-846, heavy fires Allied Ships CV Saratoga CV Yorktown CV Intrepid CV Emperor Norton I.
