Fun thing.

This Spanish militia has been on the reinforcement spiral since Axis declared war on Spain in M/J '40. That is over two years on the spiral. I've never seen a minor country unit riding that long on the spiral and then arrive.

The US decide to keep their aircraft on the ground rather than waste fuel on speculative search missions this early in the turn, thank-you.

I'm not sure if there's a bug here. The game wouldn't allow the BB to return to Brisbane. A per the picture, it said stacking limits exceeded, no cooperation. It looks like the CW FTR is blocking it but I thought CW and US units could freely base together.

To move things on, the Maryland has gone to Sydney (hope that's okay).

That is absolutely fine - I think it may be the Dutch submarine that is the issue here, but that rather silly rule (if indeed it is that) always confuses the hell out of me, but here it is using RAC and this example:

Units from a major power (US) don’t co-operate with units from a minor country (Holland) aligned with another major power (Commonwealth).

So there you have it

Cape Naturaliste

Searches: Axis 9, Allies 6 - No combat.

Bay of Bengal

2 factor sub initiates.

US has a PBY-5 that can make the 4-box. Blenheim the 3-box, Whitley the 2-box, Beaufighter the 2-box, Vengeance the 1-box, Hurricane the 0-box. Any taking to the skies?

Ah yes, the Dutch sub. That does seem daft but good there is no bug.

Yes please, the US order a search by their Catalina squadrons and they head for the 4-box, While the Indians are tasked with convoy protection and deploy their Vengeances to the 0-box.

Searches: Both sides roll a 4. A patrolling Catalina spots the Jap subs and dives to attack. On this occasion, the Japanese lookouts are up to the job and the subs dive to safety (combat result was NE).

The subs continue the hunt for convoys and I assume the Allies stay around to continue their hunt.

Searches: Axis 2, Allies 9.

The Catalina pilots over-enthusiastically mistook diving subs for sinking ones, so the Allies are caught off-guard. The subs find the convoys to telling effect (4 surprise points to choose sub combat, 4 points to lower damage to NE). The subs stay for more, how about the Allies?

The subs stay deep so combat ends.

No air missions.

Italy rails a GARR from La Spezia to Reggio.

Western Europe post Italian movement shown below.

Italy rebases a FTR from La Rochelle to Bordeaux. The Japs rebase a FTR from Manchuria to Korea. Over to Mayhemizer.
