35 F-35s in Elephant Walk. It was either supposed to be 35 or 1 engaged the cloaking device prematurely :D

Maybe it's time to finish my scenario re: the Kerch Strait.

Seems like the "Don of a new era" LIVE scenario could become a prophetic one.

Let's hope It doesn't.

Perhaps it's time to ask the devs for a 'Ramming' capability. Useful in SCS scenarios as well

Official confirmation by Chinese state media that the 3rd carrier is under construction. Well, PLA watchers knew this long ago...

China launches work on third aircraft carrier, Xinhua says
By Zhao Lei | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2018-11-26 10:58

China has launched work on building its third aircraft carrier, Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday.

In an article published on its WeChat account, Xinhua said that as the nation’s second, and the first domestically designed, carrier has undergone sea trials, a “new-generation carrier” is being constructed at the shipyard as per schedule.

The article, which was intended to mark the sixth anniversary of the first takeoff and landing by a Chinese fighter on the country’s first carrier CNS Liaoning, does not elaborate on the program of the “new-generation carrier”, which is believed to be the country’s third carrier. But the article is the first official confirmation.

Chinese weapons enthusiasts and foreign observers have long asserted that China has begun to build its third carrier at China State Shipbuilding Corp’s Jiangnan Shipyard Group in Shanghai, speculating that it will be bigger and mightier than the Liaoning and the second carrier, which is yet to be named.

A publicity officer at China State Shipbuilding Corp’s headquarters in Beijing refused to comment on the matter.

Publicity officers of the People’s Liberation Army Navy could not be reached on Monday morning.

In related notice, we did get a designation for the carrierborne fixed wing AEW&C plane's radar: KLC-7
And the description also confirms what some big shrimp insiders have asserted long ago: A capability comparable with CEC has been equipped in the PLAN:

Great article. "Russia would deny access to the Sea of Azov", "Russian aggression", "Russia suddenly escalating confrontation with Ukraine", "Provocative actions of the Russian Federation" and also tons of lie. Orwell's "1984" already reality not anti-utopia.

Minnie Chan just “rebuked” it today, with the claims of effective tariffs and counter-intelligence by US to slow the Chinese new carrier construction.

Do you think I believe this? The link is absent, and you know the answer.

Question for this group, if folks don't mind - I've tried to get this answer to my satisfaction but just am not sufficiently confident:

Is the Meteor air-to-air missile presently fielded for regular duty by the Royal Air Force on its Tranche 2 Typhoons?

Is the Meteor AAM similarly fielded yet by other air forces, specifically the French, German, and Swedish?

My research indicates that the answers to these questions are "yes", "no", "no", and "no," but like I said - I'm not sufficiently confident.

One final question: for the purposes of CMANO, to most accurately represent the current fleet of British Typhoons, which database entry is best - the Typhoon FGR.4 (UK-2018), the Typhoon T.3 (UK-2018), or another option?

Thanks!

You can always call it a "Quarantine" and most people will agree you are not at war.

No. It's in testing phase with 2 squadrons only, both of which operate FGR.4 meaning they are Tranche 1. So for "regular duty" it will be 2019 at least and only in those 2 squadrons, other fighters are not yet modified.

quote:

The only air force that already fields Meteor operationally (like flies CAPs and intercepts with them as part of their regular operations) is the Swedish one. Grippen was the 1st to operationally field the meteor missile. Next is UK where it's not yet fielded, but 2 squadrons will get it next year. The french Rafale F3-R modification (the one that can carry the Meteor) was certified just month ago meaning no active Rafales were yet modified to use it. For the Luftwaffe I won't even comment, will just say they don't use Meteor yet.

Well depends on the squadron - you will have to research it. There are newer modifications and older ones, there isn't a single standard where all fighters currently in service are upgraded to.

http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/25343/usaf-flies-sudden-open-skies-recon-flight-over-ukraine-as-russia-and-ukraine-hold-missile-drills

Summary: "Regardless of the present state of the Open Skies treaty or its future, the latest flare-up in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia showing no signs of abating. It’s very possible that the OSCE and its partners may increasingly turn to extraordinary flights as an important tool to keep a closer eye on troop movements and other developments that could point to the beginnings of a larger conflict in the region."

A lot of additional detail in the update provided by the link.

Is there a AMRAAM version coming out for the US that’s Meteor performance capable, i.e. partial ramjet powered and if not, is there anything in the pipeline to compete against the latest Long-range PLA or Soviet AA missiles we've seen possibly coming operational soon?

The U.S. Military is quietly working on a new missile in a program called "Long Range Engagement Weapon". Could be the CUDA thought that talk has all but disapeared, could be something else. About a year ago is the best data about it so far.
http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/15692/the-pentagon-is-quietly-developing-an-next-generation-long-range-air-to-air-missile

There is also believed to still be a DARPA program called T-3 T3: Triple Target Terminator. Whether its apart of the above program I don't know, but its mission is "Develop a high speed, long-range missile that can engage air, cruise missile, and air defense targets."

There was another program cancelled under the Obama Administration's budget cuts.
