Yes TF layout is better. It requires more thought on the IJ player to locate them. I just received Dec 10 turn from Larry. His second attack on PH nearly destroyed the Airfield. And put Arizona in a start were she might have to be scuttled. Lets see if he hit PH for a third time....GP

Dec 9, 1941, was not as kind to the Allies as Dec 8. Besides the expected piecemeal destruction of the thundering herd, there was a surface action in which two rather important USN ships were sunk:

Day Time Surface Combat, near Tawi Tawi at 71,89, Range 6,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BC Hiei
BC Kirishima, Shell hits 6, on fire
DD Mutsuki, Shell hits 13, and is sunk
DD Kisaragi
DD Yayoi
Allied Ships
CA Houston, Shell hits 4
CA Chicago, Shell hits 9, and is sunk
DD John D. Ford, Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Pope, Shell hits 1, and is sunk

Day Time Surface Combat, near Tawi Tawi at 72,90, Range 3,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BC Hiei
BC Kirishima, on fire
DD Kisaragi
DD Yayoi, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
Allied Ships
CA Houston, Shell hits 8, and is sunk
DD John D. Ford, Shell hits 3, heavy fires

Day Time Surface Combat, near Tawi Tawi at 71,91, Range 6,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BC Hiei
BC Kirishima, on fire
DD Kisaragi
Allied Ships
DD John D. Ford, Shell hits 6, and is sunk

The Kirishima may be on fire, but I hold no hope of it sinking on her way to port. Those two USN CAs would have helped defend the area. Them be the breaks, I guess.

OK. Everyone is a few turns in. Comments? What do you think?

What kind of work do we have until a general release?

Ra plane art definitely causes crashes, as I said a few days ago. I'm just running with no art for the added planes for now.

CLAA conversions for Furutaka & Aoba seem extremely underwhelming, to put it mildly, particularly Aoba as they loose half their torpedoes as well as Y turret.

I feel like they should get to keep 4 wing turrets, changing from single 120 to dual 100s isn't unreasonable given the weight savings of swapping a twin 8" for a twin 4".

John,

There is a post on your RA a page about the artwork can you check it out. Please please do not forget to finish the work in progress on RA. It seems to be A bit neglected.

We are now in mid-1944 in your are a 7.9

You were going to make some changes to that mod in stopping the George being carrier-based, I think and change the loadout for the D4 Judy stopping the 800 kg on the piercing bomb which has sunk three of my Essex carriers. There are probably a few other tweaks to make including the CVE staying in Pearl Harbor trying to upgrade but never do.

Fundamentally it's a very good mod probably one of the best. And I do encourage you to update it and check with others who have played it for a long time to see what final changes need being made just to polish it up.

Cheers and hope you are keeping safe.

maybe it not part of this topic,

But can I suggest that we also consider I-400 series submarines as a part of 4th cycle plan. As It was Yamamoto's original idea and request. It should be put in effect earlier if he became the Minister. And a specially designed longer ranged search plane would be welcomed addition those submarines.

Also if possible by mod can we increase the Japanese submarines to allied merchant marine. I just live with them firing one or two torpedo to tankers. As they seems to focus on warships. I believe Yamamoto would prefer more merchant marine oriented submarine warfare.

I had something interesting happen. I left 'Resize to fit ship' switch on in one of the USN CLVs. As soon as it reached port, the TB unit resized from 6 to 5, while the Ftr unit remained at 12. The air capacity of the ship is 18. Is that working as designed?

That shouldn't happen...rather strange...

The I-400s? Hmmm...

I did not know they were Yamamoto's idea. Where did you read that?

Well its the first line in their entry in Wikipedia, which lists "Sakaida" as the source, presumably Henry Sakiada. No idea of the reliability of that but it sounds pretty plausible at least.

Ship class #870, French CVL, Bearn class upgrades to ship class #871, French, AKV, Bearn class.

I do believe that ship class #871 should be a CVL.

Question...

There are a number of RN and RAN Castle-class AMcs that, according to Tracker, should be able to convert to AGs, yet they do not. I think the RNZN ships are able to, though. Is this by design?

A followup on this. The RNZN AMcs do not upgrade in stock, but they do in DaBabes. Just so you know.

OK. Work until 2pm today and then am working in the yard. After we get that complete then I'll do an update thru everything Posted at that time.

Think we are in pretty good shape.

Everyone running Tracker on the Japanese Side, how do things look to you?
