Something sank at singers? probably a poor whale or a small boat hitting one of your imperialist mines, don't be a warmonger! Japan wants peace and friendship

Garbled message from Phillips...returning to base....under aerial observation. Fighter cover enroute...Buffaloes...

Admiral Phillips, if alive, will be chastised by the King for failing in his duty! It is a disgrace...and yet, Churchill sleeps soundly tonight after a hurried conversation with President Roosevelt.

The situation is unclear...but Allied planners are hard at work. Contingencies, contingencies....

The Desron at Hong Kong is battle worthy, at least we think it is. Boise and Marblehead Group too. The American Carriers untouched, but the KB is near to them...east of them. Perhaps the KB will lend her support to the anticipated Wake Island invasion. Fires burn at Pearl...but early reports are optimistic. Manila though seems hard hit.

You mean her father, the King. I very much doubt his wife would do the chastising.

Argh, my bad. What a jv mistake too. I do get kudos for actually looking up if Phillips had one or two Ls, though.

But now the sun is shining, still under a flash flood warning till tomorrow, but the electricity has returned in full vigor. My wife has workouts scheduled with the hair dryer and curling iron. How many wives still use a curling iron I wonder?

Think my wife has a one, but it's been re-branded to something more 21st century sounding.

I was curious to see that my wife upgraded her hair dryer to a 1950 watt model....the last one was only 1650. She thinks the curling iron is stronger...her words, and she is an engineer (just not an electrical engineer).

I wonder if the term "nipponese" would be considered racist to use nowadays. It's simply taking the actual Japanese word for Japan (Nippon, Nihon can also be used) and adding "ese" onto the end of it. In a way, that's more culturally contextual than the Portuguese bastardization of Nippon to Jippon to Japan in the 17th century.

I think Clark AFB was untouched....

A closer look at Davao landings....Boise and Marblehead could probably react to them...or do something else entirely.

The Empire is definitely going all out for the Philippines. Does that make a fortress Singapore defense attractive?

I don't see why it would be. It is still in use...but, what do I know?

Well, of course nippon is used. I'm talking specifically about nipponese. Like if you put it in a newspaper today, would there be an outcry? But we digress, back to the game.

When I was a kid and read extensively on WWII, I was familiar with the term "Nips" for the Japanese. It was confusing to me when one of the Canadian burger restaurant chains called its burgers "Nips", "Big Nips", "Cheese Nips", etc. I was wondering what the connection was between hamburgers and the Japanese? And don't tell me they were both part of the Axis! Why single out Hamburg?

Is it really possible to "digress" in an AAR which went 20 pages before the first turn was run?

Well, Hamburgers can be quite stupid. One of them put a community on what became one of the world's largest open pit mines. Iron ore mine, that is. He even named the town after himself.

One of my uncles (my aunt married him) said that he was a DP. I wondered why he meant "Dumb Polack" but I did not ask him why he admitted that. Now I know what he meant! He was a nice guy. I only met him a couple of times.

Upcoming leadership changes:

High Priority Changes:
Kimmel (PacFlt), Brooke-Popham (ABDA), Percival (Malaya Army), DeWitt (West Coast), Southern Command will see a switch to free up Brodie Haig, McLeod (Burma Cmd), Broad (Eastern Cmd Calcutta), Heath (III Indian Corp),

High Priority but not sure what the pool looks like:
Blamey (OZ Command) when we get a decent choice.

Lower priority change...

USN Fleet Air West (San Diego). In all truth, probably can live without changing this guy by shuffling groups around.
222 Group RAF Colombo
224 Group RAF Singers -- depends upon game developments
RAAF Sydney -- depends upon available

Most other HQ changes can wait for 2 weeks or longer.

The High Priority changes are some serious PP....but they need to be done. Plus I am not done in China...

I will net over 100 points by early withdaws, so I will need to prioritize who to change first. Malaya originally wasn't on the list, but now with such a heavy focus on Luzon...I feel Singers should be prioritized much higher.
