as no one else seems to be brave enough to answer our original qiestion terminus .. hope i can get this down before MI5 come sieze my computer.

OK the REAL reason is all down to a global domination plan by <CENCORED> aimed at <CENCORED> . Now on the face of it there isnt much sense in that small statement, but when you see the underlying trend toward <CENCORED> and <CENCORED> not to mention <CENCORED> it's all as clear as day .. see told you !

alternatively google for " idiotic conspiracy theories " .. there are so many site some MUST be right .. surely

Glad i was able to clarify this .. god im such a helpful bunny at times

The white runway is just cammo you idiots! So the enemy cannot find it to bomb it.

(Why do people always have to make things so complicated?)

Actually speedy is 100% correct imo. a dark coloured runway will absorb thermal radiation from the sun much more readily than one that is painted white ( to increace the albedo (reflectivity )).

If any part of the runway is built over compacted ice, the warmer runway may cause this ice to melt and the runway will buckle/crater and/or sink and tilt possibly. So you have a runway that pilots can see when trying to land but will cause nasty crashes when the landing gear falls down a hole :)

And frankly with modern ILS and navigation aids it's just as easy to land on a white one.

just my 2p ..

Being only a few miles from the speedster , i feel the need for some british solidarity. considering the number of scandanavians who play/post here.

seems like this forum is one of the most balanced ones between europe and US, not forgetting our friends in japan and australia.

All we need is some players from africa, southamerica and a wargamer based in mucmurdo sound to have a truly global community :)

Too right Rob. Solidarity is needed against these 'others'. Especially that Danish lager drinking lout known as Terminus.

P.S. Of course i'm right on the runway. Ah the memories of school 7 years ago come in handy you see

Next science question of the day?

P.P.S. LOL Sonny. Could imagine you in a cockpit. "Now listen Sonny this lever controls blah blah." "Ah don't worry about it. Which one do you have to press to go faster?"

I would have to agree, more like a chat room :) .. wonder when it'll get politically incorrect and get closed ?

yes brother speedy .. solidarity is needed in the face of global opression like terminus :) (kidding) .. and school 7 years ago ! i'm almost tempted to disown such a youngster .. hehe.. mine was like 20 years ago .. although in an odd way im doing school again the form of an open university degree .. my first go 20 years ago failed due to the introduction of women and beer and living away from home for the first time. subsidised bars and a 2-1 women to men student ratio isn't condusive to concentration in a youngster.

an well im rambling again .. and not for the first time ..

time to wrap up my contribution to this thread and say " If it moves f*** it , if it dosnt then f*** it till it moves " completeley OT .. and im sober ..

I've long since stopped trying to argue with the voices in my head. They always ended up shouting me down...

What I realy hate is when the alien voices outargue the one's in my head.

Oh yea about your question, you know how fond the US Navy is of constantly painting it's ships, they just can't always get the same shade as the last repaint.

A thought on the 'white runway'. Could it be that they wanted to reflect the sun back to prevent heat building up and melting the snow/ice?

That makes sense... almost too much sense for government thinking. Must not have been a defense contractor who did it also. I would imagine some airman came up with the idea and all he got for his troubles was a paintbrush!
