Up Front!

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:45:37 PM)

Banzai!

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:46:20 PM)

(Alone I struggle on.......[:(])

D-Day!

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:46:42 PM)

Guns of August!

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:46:43 PM)

My last count was 200+ wargames, not counting magazine games. Been buying them for 35 years now. I love computer games, but nothing is better than making faces at your opponent across a map full of counters.[:D]

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:47:54 PM)

(Ah, blessed voice from the darkness........Yes, I've been collecting for a good 26 years myself. Haven't counted but it's probably close to 100)

Third Reich!

rtrapasso -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:48:54 PM)

how about chess? There's probably 130 chess programs out there...[:D]

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:49:27 PM)

Are you into the monster games?

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:49:33 PM)

I must rest, brothers..........rejuvenate with some beer..........(and go home where I can see what is left in the cabinet cause my brain is stumped)

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:50:16 PM)

I've played Longest Day. It's a good game. World in Flames might considered such and I've played it.

Never got into the Europa series though.

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:50:20 PM)

Avalon Hill's The Longest Day. Actually finished that one. The Allies won in the last week. Took me 13 months to finish.

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:51:01 PM)

Ever play The Gamers games? Their operational combat series is wonderful.

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:51:49 PM)

I've also commanded a vessel in the Battle of Trafalgar (Close Action rules) on a gymnasium floor using scale, scratch-built SOL models. [:D]

With 100 other guys....that's pretty monstrous........

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:52:49 PM)

I was never much of a tactical guy. Always liked the strategic level much better. I've not played anything from The Gamers.

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:53:15 PM)

Sounds like fun. Tried Napoleonic miniatures. Not enough time to paint the gazillions of figures. Also, no opponent.[:(]

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:54:11 PM)

Exceptions exist, of course, and I really did like the Squad Leader series up until ASL, as well as SPWAW. Close Action is a tactical game too, though it is naval warfare.

spam is yummy. [:'(] I grew up on spam as my grandfather worked for Hormels. [sm=00000028.gif][sm=00001746.gif][sm=Crazy-1271.gif][sm=party-smiley-012.gif]

Mike Solli -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:55:13 PM)

Their operatonal series is 2 turns per week. Units are divisions, specialty regiments/bn, and Panzer divisions are broken down into about 8 or so units (bns and regiments). Lots of fun.

niceguy2005 -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:55:39 PM)

MOO was the best computer game ever, hands down, no contest, I'll smack the spineless, pathetic sack of slugs that disagrees. [:@]

Too bad MOO II and MOO III sucked bad and sucked worse, respectively.

I watched a game using the old Empire rules. It looked fun, but the painting sounded tedious.

OTOH, I really got into WRG 7th ancient miniatures. Have a partially painted Early Achaemenid Persian army that I have to convert to DBA/M rules now.... [:(]

Nothing like getting pickled from the inside out.[X(]

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:57:01 PM)

I liked MOO, but by the time MooII and MooIII came out, I was into VGA Planets and liked that way better.

scott64 -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:57:35 PM)

its good, fried with mustard and eggs in a sandwich. [:'(]

I've always been interested in Ancients. There's a game series that was pretty interesting. Can't remember it right now. (Guess that brain cell shrivelled up.) Geez, I bought it, but haven't even punched the counters on it. That was a few years ago though.

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:58:27 PM)

I've never tried Moo that way.....[:D]

Well, that certainly goes a long way toward explaining your WiTP "strategy" [sm=crazy.gif] [;)]

MOO was a great game, but MOO II was much better. Forget about MOO III...[sm=vomit-smiley-020.gif]

Mynok -> RE: Test Thread (1/26/2006 11:59:46 PM)

I have an old game called Chariots that I believe was SPI. Also have

Alexander the Great!

from AH. After playing Gaugamela using the ancients rules, however, the board game lacks something. [:'(]

The good side to preservatives: stomach cancer rates have plummeted in the last 50 years or so, and no one really knows why, however, the working theory it is due to preservatives in food.

Also, undertakers have noticed that the Dead don't go bad so quickly... (true facts!)[:D]

niceguy2005 -> RE: Test Thread (1/27/2006 12:00:31 AM)

VGA planets?

I'm actually considering trying to find a copy of MOO for xp. I'm sure its out there somewhere.
