Rysyonok -> December 24, 1922 (4/21/2006 12:55:22 AM)

I'm incredibly frustrated.

Mined hexes in its path, subs lined up one on top of another, three TFs with plenty of action points and reaction ranges - and all three IJN TFs make it back to Kwajalein without a single scratch or even sighting.

30 Howitzers on Maloelap, 194 mines, 32 aircraft in the air - and all three IJN TFs make it back to Kwajalein without a single scratch or even sighting.

What the...

Rysyonok -> December 25, 1922 (4/21/2006 4:43:04 AM)

Sigh.

Pre-dreadnought TF catches up with IJN transports sinking four and hurting six more, but out of ammo on all main caliber front turrets is forced to retreat. With no fuel left. Judging from VP gains, there was only supply on those APs.

Lack of sightings of large IJN AKs is really bothering me. I may convert even more ships when they arrive mid-January.

Three more USN DDs capsize at night.

Iwo Jima is building fortifications very fast - 0% --> 9% --> 27% --> 43%... IJA will have difficulty taking it. All those engineers there are useless unless at least 2:1 odds are achieved, and how can you do that with 8000 attackers and 7000 defenders behind a half-completed fort?

Helloooo replay bug: combatreport.txt generated from loading 001.sav does not always match combatreport.txt the Japanese player sends you. So from now on I will post the emailed one as it matches the actual game save file.

Note the interesting casualty results from IJA's bombardments. Is it because troops that landed (1) probably lack supplies and support (2) have 10-20% planning vs 70% of my troops?

It's ironic, actually. You set planning as you load troops on transports, and by the time they make it to their destination, they've planned it all out ;)

Rysyonok -> Light at the end of the tunnel? (4/24/2006 6:30:01 AM)

P.S. Yamabuki Maru and Sinsei Maru are the first large IJN AKs seen in a very long time. I hope at least one of them will sink tomorrow, answering a very important question: has IJN been converting ships? If it hasn't, there is still a hope for USN.

P.P.S. Neither transport made an attempt to attack my submarines in return. I am suspecting neither one had been converted.

Rysyonok -> January 10, 1923 (4/30/2006 2:26:59 AM)

Either IJN ships gained a lot of experience or my ships keep missing or I am out of range of coastwatchers, but I am seriously lacking updates about IJN ships sunk in between battles. I am starting to suspect there are 2-3 more than I know about. Despite fog of war tallying casualties has been pretty easy - only once had I research sub attacks a month back to find out who got the kill.

Three IJN transports go down, one of them - an unconverted large AK. Sweet ;)
