Professor Yaffle -> RE: Filler Names (8/19/2006 1:09:22 AM)

Wow.
Thanks.
I'm suprised you have no fleet air arm pilots.
Have you thought about including 804 and 808 squadron up in Scotland? It gives you the opportunity to get a few extra really interesting if not particularly good aircraft in the game..(just in case you haven't enough to do...) and a few naval ranks too.
http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/RollofHonour/Battlehonour_crewlists/BattleofBritain_FAAaircrew_1940.html
The site also gives you a few more real pilots (FAA on loan to the RAF)
Stuart
Have fun...

TOCarroll -> RE: Filler Names (8/19/2006 4:41:07 AM)

Here are Two real pilots who were involved in the air war over Europe.....from North Africa to England and France. Thomas Kane (TK) O'Carroll, and Peter Joseph (PJ) O'Carroll. They were brothers (now deceased), respectivly, my father and my uncle. As I own BOB and WOR, I would be honored to see two actual pilots who served in the campaign included.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Filler Names (8/19/2006 8:25:07 AM)

Hi TO
do you know off hand what Squadrons they flew for, or would you rather they just be added to any ?

Hard Sarge -> RE: Filler Names (8/22/2006 6:16:50 PM)

1st Lt Thomas K. O'Carroll 44th BG (B-24)

Thanks Hard Sarge.............I was wondering if there is any chance you could include Brett Butterworth also to the 450 Sqd RAAF.

Many Thanks

petgod1 -> RE: Filler Names (8/31/2006 6:33:21 PM)

Hi Hard Sarge

Yea I'm still around and still playing. Actually dusted of my copy of BoB and started on that again. Real wierd after so much time on BTR, i keep trying to manual upgrade units [:@]

Really looking forward to this new one though, please let me know if you need any help beta or the like, in particular I am some what of a historical buff and researcher. Well 20 yrs in the military has taught me to learn from the past so i can beat the crap out of anyone we go up against now [:D]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Filler Names (9/1/2006 10:00:17 AM)

FO. Brett Butterworth 450 RAAF Squadron (Kittyhawk III)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Filler Names (9/1/2006 10:02:03 AM)

Hi Pet
(LOL)

well, the good news on that side, is pretty much, if it works in BTR, it works the same way in BoB, and the other way around

they are working off the same engine now, so what you get used to in one, will be there if and when you play the other

HMSWarspite -> RE: Filler Names (9/1/2006 8:54:25 PM)

Sarge - I presume you have Bickers' list of the BoB pilots (includes FAA, KIA, and units)?

Hard Sarge -> RE: Filler Names (9/2/2006 12:06:26 AM)

I am not sure of who's the lists I have been using are, I got books and websites and Wartime Doc's

if you got a copy or a address, let me have a look :)

Der Landser -> RE: Filler Names (9/2/2006 8:53:51 AM)

Hello Hard Sarge,

I would like to have two pilots named in the memory of my grandfathers, Helmut Dannenmann and Karl Hartwig. Preferrably a Leutnant or Oberleutnant in a Nachtjagd Geschwader, however, a Jagdgeschwader or Zerstörer Geschwader would be acceptable.

HMSWarspite -> RE: Filler Names (9/2/2006 3:56:02 PM)

Only got it in old fashioned paper (book) format) - 'The Battle of Britain' Richard Townshend Bickers, Salamander Books 1990 ISBN 0 86101 477 4.

It has 10 pages of 5 columns of names at the back (aircrew who fought under FC operational control July 10 to Oct 31 1940, I will see if I can get to a scanner if it would be worthwhile? Any names you would like checked in the meantime? Here is the full FAA list

Fl Lt Silvain Domen 349 Belg Squadron (Spit LF VB)

(349 starts with a 71 day delay, but I have conflicking data on start date and plane type, so that may change)

History of No. 349 Squadron.

Motto:"Strike hard, strike home "
Badge: Two morning stars in saltire

No.349 Squadron was formed on 10 November 1942 at Ikeja in Nigeria, as a Belgian-manned fighter squadron for service in the Belgian Congo. After flying Tomahawks for a few months, the squadron's pilots were diverted to ferrying fighters to the Middle East, and at the end of May its personnel were transferred to the UK to reform at Wittering with Spitfires on 5 June 1943. Becoming operational on 13 August, it moved south in October and began flying sweeps over France on 24 October. After covering the Normandy landings as part of No.135 Wing No.349 moved to France in August 1944 for fighter bomber and escort missions until February 1945, when it returned to the UK to re-equip with Tempests. Conversion was abandoned in April and the squadron moved to the Netherlands to join No.132 Wing for the rest of the war, flying armed reconnaissance sweeps over Germany. After a period with the occupation forces, No.349 passed to the control of the Belgian Air Force on 24 October 1946.
