Wonder who first came up with "Huzzah!"...

Wikipedia isn't much help:

Cap Mandrake -> An accounting (8/9/2007 5:33:03 AM)

A summary of documented naval losses from operations off Perth and the Indian Ocean. First, the BB's, CA's, CL's and carriers

FeurerKrieg -> RE: An accounting (8/9/2007 9:45:57 AM)

Looks like the Dutch are certainly doing their part.

Indeed they are. Half a year flying around in Martins with no fighter cover can make anybody want to get even. Many Dutch Brewsters were sacrificed as Zero Attractors.

Here are the Jap DD's. This has got to hurt. Some appear to be missing or must be hulks. Ensign Borgnine's kill isn,t on here for some reason. Maybe it didn't sink yet. [:)]

Most, if not all, of the sub kills are on damaged DD's.

Ouch On A Stick!

That smarts...[X(]

Cap Mandrake -> RE: An accounting (8/10/2007 2:43:39 AM)

This is painful too. The troop tansports. It is instructive. Look how many times the elite B-25's loaded up with 1000 lbrs when the Japs got close. The Beauforts are murder when the enemy AAA is poor at 4 hexes or less. Quite a few kills by Dorsteshire, Boise, Glasgow who came back after the Jap carriers where worn out.

I dont even have the energy to post all the AK's, PC's, ML's lost

Good Question. All losses in Western Oz and Southern Indian Ocean since the start of the war.

1 x AK (Vals)
1 x TK (sub)
MSW Colac, Arnidale, Penguin, Bittern (at least two lost as tripwire picketts)

CL's Birmingham, Mauritius, Emerald

DD's Norman, Paladin, Gridley(USN), Stuart, Witte de Withe (RNN)

HMS Repulse (hit by 4 torpedoes and 3 bombs near Perth, recovered at Perth and sent to Ceylon for final repair..intercepted in the Indian Ocean by Jap CV's where she finally succumbed)

Terminus -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 3:22:49 AM)

Dang, what a slaughterhouse.

bobogoboom -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 3:32:21 AM)

Are we going to get another one of those beautiful maps showing what perth looks like now?

Cap Mandrake -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 3:32:33 AM)

plus 48 Jap AK's, 11 MSW's, 10 PC's, 2 ML's

Not to mention 4 full Jap divisions now ashore, 1 brigade destroyed and 3 more trapped. It has to be about 100,000 troops.

The Allies lost more aircraft, of course, mostly Dutch, which is why it was necessary to send the Perth Welcoming Committee to Curacao.

That is a good idea although it may not be tonight. That former co-worker I mentioned earlier is back in town and she asked me out to dinner and...wait a minute...<gets out Lemba Voodo bones and rolls them after several incantations>...WOOHOOO!

Let me put it this way. If I post something else tonight it was a dinner date.

PS. I did some research on the etymology of "Huzzah". I wil try to get to it later.

Well in that case i hope we don't see one of those maps for a day or 2. Good luck.

Mandrake, I beg you, don't forsake the purity of your essence!

rockmedic109 -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 11:23:21 AM)

About half your losses had a certain black cloud covered Admiral on them.

Time for Milo to start making money on all that wreckage.

A lot of new fish homes around Perth.

"Essentially", that is what happened. After a couple of glasses of a delicious tea from Long Island, she told me she was married [X(][X(] Clearly I "misunderestimated" the Lemba Voodoo meaning of a cylindrical bone on top of the hourglass shaped one. At least she payed for the tea and bruscetta.

For the residents of Long Island, this important safety tip: I am pretty sure your delciious tea causes headache.

Anyway, off to the cold shower, but not for the reason you think. I forgot to pay my gas bill and some chowderhead came out and turned off the gas. [:@] The cable is fixed; however, and I am well configured not to break any of the Ten Commandments today.

Well, checking my Voodoo handbook, the cylindrical bone on top of the hourglass bone means "you're screwed". Of course, there are many ways one might get screwed, and nowhere near all of them can be considered fun...

Yes..you mean Somerville. I don't blame him, it was a desperate measure at the crisis point of the naval fight. I am happy the RN carriers escaped destruction by fleeing South the very day the Jap carriers moved South. [:-]

And, yes, the dive location and fish habitat should be great. Maybe he can convert some the icebreakers M&M started.

I hate it when "signs" have multiple meanings. They realy ought to do something about that. BTW, none of you guys are from Idaho are you?

Feinder -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 6:57:00 PM)

Misleading/confusing signs - ouch.

Kinda like hearing, "Don't...  Stop.."

Yeah that one mean Yes and More a lot of times. Of course then there are the times it means the other which are usually accompanied by a slap.[:@] why girls can't just say what they actualy mean.

kaleun -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 8:06:58 PM)

If you guys are ever nominated for a position on the Supreme Court this kind of banter will come back to haunt you.

Hey, Cap, is your game still going on at the same pace as ordinary or has the decisive nature of the Battle of Perth discouraged your opponent?

[:D] I am more worried about my housekeeper who may or may not have a green card....and then there is the employer Social Security tax issue. Oh..wait..I never went to law school either...ah never mind.

The game has definitely slowed recently as we used up a lot of psychic energy with three to four pitched battles simultaneously (Perth, Midway, Yunan, Burma Road). Sometimes it is me holding things up too...like when my ISP went down for 5 or 6 days.

Burma Road update coming soon.

Nah, sounds like she was just laying out the ground rules so you knew you'd be jumping on a trampoline instead of a water bed... [:D]

I think you misspoke. Did you really mean to say "trampoline" or did you mean to say "a steeply-sided pit lined with sharpened bamboo stakes"?

witpqs -> RE: 7th..no 3rd Cavalry to the rescue (8/10/2007 11:55:57 PM)

You mean she proposed marriage?
