BrucePowers -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/4/2007 3:40:44 AM)

The game has advanced to May 10, 1942. I have not had time for an update.

Terminus has invested Vladivostok with 200, 000 men. This occurred after 3 turns of 4 engine bomber attacks on northern Japan from Vladivostok. These bombers have since benn reallocated to other theatres.

One of the most significant results of these attacks was a carrier raid on Vladivostk with the following results....This occured on May 1

Day Air attack on Vladivostok , at 65,33

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 33
D3A Val x 89
B5N Kate x 89
Ki-46-II Dinah x 1

Allied aircraft
I-16 Type 24 x 15
MiG-3 x 31
LaGG-3 x 40
Yak-1 x 29

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 21 destroyed
D3A Val: 39 destroyed, 11 damaged
B5N Kate: 36 destroyed, 17 damaged

Allied aircraft losses

MiG-3: 7 destroyed, 18 damaged
LaGG-3: 8 destroyed, 13 damaged
Yak-1: 8 destroyed, 9 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 7 destroyed
B-17E Fortress: 1 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
16 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

Airbase hits 6
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 73

This was a large number of carrier aircrew to lose (I know the numbers may be inflated).

Also, he has hit Akyab with several large air rais ober the past several days. The AVG is regrouping in Chandpur.

BrucePowers -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/4/2007 3:44:47 AM)

BrucePowers -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/4/2007 3:56:42 AM)

In other new, Terminus took Guadalcanal yesterday. I did not try to stop him. The 1st USMC division is in Luganville, however.

Also large numbers of troops and aircraft are moving west to Noumea, Luganville and Australia now that there are supplis and fuel in place to support them. Auckland is becoming a major supply hub.

BrucePowers -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/4/2007 4:22:15 AM)

In my above posts, the 2nd USMC division is in Luganville, not the Ist.

goodboyladdie -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/4/2007 10:25:47 AM)

He is spread so thin due to his Russian adventure that you should be able to start making him pay. Why anyone would want to waste a small pilot pool taking on all of those Soviet fighters is beyond me, but to do it with inadequate forces?!?! How is T btw? The lack of spam is seriously worrying.....

BrucePowers -> RE: May 12, 1942 (2/5/2007 3:38:48 AM)

Once I realized he had 200, 000 men here I started to look closely at the map. I am trying to see if China has been weakened. It is now May 12. Here is what is around Vladivostok

goodboyladdie -> RE: May 10, 1942 (2/5/2007 11:37:25 AM)

Hi Bruce

I always fight with units divided. They seem to be more robust as the largest units seem to take more casualties and disruption is spread further. Constant dividing and recombining of units when he is consistently sending recon units over your unengaged forces means he gets a confused recon picture too. If you do divide, make sure you check all the leaders.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 10, 1942 (4/4/2007 6:54:11 PM)

I have been remiss in updating this AAR due to time restraints. In a nutshell the game has advanced to July 10. Terminus has northern Java and is advancing on Sorejaba. He has been slowed considerably due to his Russian adventure.

I still own Timor and Kendari. I have evaced several complete Dutch units with US subs (I can use the ground units).

He has taken Guadalcanal and we are fighting in Port Moresby.

He is also fighting me in Akyab, but to take he will need more ground units.

2 days ago we had a carrier battle at Noumea (for which I paid for sloppy orders.

No carriers are lost. I will post more on this tonight. All in all I am in decent shape.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 12, 1942 (4/5/2007 6:17:31 AM)

We are now up tp July 12. Over the last week I shot down over 200 aircraft over Akyab. Because of this T has slowed his air ops. This has allowed me to rebuild depleted air units in India which are are now at gull strength.

He is still 120 miles away from Sorejaba but I am sure the Imperial Guards division will move soon.

An RN sub put 2 torepodes in an AP moving away from Rangoon. The sub will relocate.

All is quiet elsewhere. I am slowly building my strength in China.

My carriers are moving away from Noumea. The damage to the carriers is much lighter than I feared, they are all capable of air ops if need be and their air wings are up to strength. He still has all 8 of his heavy carriers and I have not seen them for a month.

They have to be ready for ops again after some took heavy air losses over Akyab about a month ago.

AS we are in July, I am filling up my Dutch recon units with PBYs. This will help improve my recon and naval search capabilities.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 13, 1942 (4/5/2007 6:59:14 PM)

Another day has past. I have only seen the combat report. The only major action was a very large Surface force bombarded Akyab. There were 2 transport TFs in port. Many transports were damaged. I lost all 4 DEs providing ASW for the transports. These DEs will be missed. They were responsible for sinking about 3 IJN subs. More to come on this action.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 18, 1942 (4/10/2007 2:36:06 AM)

Here is the situation on July 18. He has just advanced in Sorejaba. He moved in with 9 units (I have evaced all air units). There are more coming from Kragen where he just laned. I feel very good that Java has held this long. It took him over a week to take Batavia. My air units in Java caused considerable trouble for him for a month. Also Timor and Kendari still stand.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 19, 1942 (4/11/2007 5:15:56 AM)

I hate it when convoys want to go thru enemy infested waters. These 2 TFs were unspotted and are on their way to friendlier seas.[:)]

BrucePowers -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/11/2007 5:24:03 AM)

Here is the status of my damaged carriers after our exchange about a week ago at Noumea. The carriers are battle worthy in an emergency and should be fit for normal ops in about 2 weeks at their current rate of repair. The Lady Lex, Enterprise and Wasp are operating normal ops.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/11/2007 5:36:00 AM)

The situationin Burma is somewhat stable at the moment. My ground and air units are holding their own.

[image]local://upfiles/12663/E4B4649F7C044513BE33197E52322F29.jpg[/image]

BrucePowers -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/11/2007 5:39:09 AM)

Regarding Burma. Last turn recon saw heavy fleet units in Rangoon. They have gone missing. Another bombardment of Akyab may be coming. Akyab is currently in good shape 150,000 supply. 120+ fighters level 9 forts.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/11/2007 6:58:06 PM)

In other news, T has moved out of Port Moresby (I will post a graphic map tonight). I have been planning on sending another Austrailia Div and an air support units there. This has the feel of a possible trap. I have not seen his 8 heavy carriers in about 4 weeks. They raided Akyab but left with heavy air unit losses and no ship damage. They should be back up to strength. I am considering air lifting in air support to up my air capacity in PM as it will only currently support 1 fighter squadron.

anarchyintheuk -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/11/2007 11:48:49 PM)

Has he made any recent advance in Russia or is that just a stalemate?

BrucePowers -> RE: July 20, 1942 (4/12/2007 3:53:47 AM)

It was a stalemate but his units started advancing 2 days ago. He is tightening the noose. I think the far east will collapse in about 3 to 4 weeks. My only concern here is the units this will free up for use elsewhere. He has about 300,000 troops in Russia. I am moving to strenghten the Aleutians now. I will post a map in a bit.

Bruce

BrucePowers -> RE: July 22, 1942 (4/12/2007 5:37:43 AM)

Here is the Russian Front. Vladivostok is still in supply and holding

BrucePowers -> RE: July 22, 1942 (4/15/2007 5:24:20 AM)

Back from 3 days away from the computer. As soon as I run Terminus' turn I will post an update. This will be tomorrow morning.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 24, 1942 (4/16/2007 4:34:39 AM)

It is now July 24. It has been relatively quiet. The stationary fort just north of Vladivostok fell this turn. Resistance in Russia is faultering.

Because of this I am fortifying the Aleutians.....

And here is the situation south of the Solomons

BrucePowers -> RE: July 24, 1942 (4/16/2007 4:42:52 AM)

One other thing I have done over the past 3 weeks is to disperse my shipping with system damage to various ports for repair. I am seeing who is good at doing what
After 8 months of war some of the ships were in dire need of refit.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 25, 1942 (4/17/2007 1:47:12 AM)

July 25, the Pacific theatre is relatively quiet. The Enterprise will move to Sydney for final repairs. The dockyard their just refitted 3 destroyers in record time. There are 2 ARs due in Auckland to speed repaires on the other carriers.

Here is the situation in New Guinea

ny59giants -> RE: July 25, 1942 (4/17/2007 2:40:17 PM)

Do you know what size force he has coming overland to PM??

BrucePowers -> RE: July 25, 1942 (4/17/2007 6:53:58 PM)

Yes, there are 2 units in that hex. They are, if I remember correctly, an INF and and ENG unit. They were in Port Moresby having landed by amphibius assault. They moved out a week ago. I am readying another Australian INF division and a BF to reinforce New Guinea. I can post a better shot tonight.

I want to move in more air support. I now have a RF-5A recon unit and I need to recon Rabual. The unit will be ready in about 5 days.

niceguy2005 -> RE: July 25, 1942 (4/17/2007 7:08:43 PM)

I haven't been keeping up with this AAR. Its nice to see the game progressing.

I think the fact that you still have Kendari is interesting. Any chance you can reinforce it? If you can keep it, it really exposes the soft under belly of his empire. That whole area is an ideal place to operate LBA from.

BrucePowers -> RE: July 25, 1942 (4/18/2007 4:26:51 AM)

I am not sure I have the combat power to hold. There is a lot of airpower arranged around me. All I have in Kendari is a small Dutch Inf unit and an Eng unit. He is totally engaged in Java however, I have moved 3 convoys of supplies and resources out of Kendari to Australia. I think I could move ground units in. I have some PP I could spend.
