I've tried twice to play but boy does it lose me. If any of you guys ever come to San Diego on vacation or something stop by my house and let me watch you play a few turns [8D]

There's a dude that goes by the screenname "brisd" that is both a WitP'er and lives in your fair city.[8D]

Sadly I believe WITP is the last of the giants PC war gamming will offer.

Don't be so sure...

I am glad to hear that!

Best Matrix Game? I just enjoyed to have a second look (or third or ...) at my matrix collection during my holidays. I really cant decide wich one is the best, but i am surely enjoying right now Tin Soldiers Julius Caesar, Forge of Freedom, WITP and Guns of August. (Dont ask how much time ... and I am having quite a life (wife) as well ...)

By the way Eric, please elaborate ... ;-)

Regards
Motomouse

WITP. Very difficult to learn but it's one of the best game I've ever played

So, have downloaded and played Tin Soldiers:JC yet? Hope that you enjoy it -- I know we really enjoyed developing it.

I worked on the AI, so if you like it -- please let me know. Otherwise, you can keep your comment private.

I finally bought this last night. Excellent game! I am impressed. [:)][&o]

WITP is the one game I keep coming back too, again and again, when other newer games have long lost interest, there is just nothing else like it.

KG Erwin -> RE: Best Matrix Game (8/30/2007 2:16:53 AM)

The best games are immersive, and lend themselves to replay. The best games also have superb customer support from the designers, and will see improvements and patches issued as necessary.

That being said, I bought one Matrix game that I regard as a complete failure: Reach For The Stars. That was $20 wasted. Oh, well, it happens.

On the flip side, I have nothing but the highest praise for a non-wargame: PureSim Baseball. Shaun Sullivan has a fanbase which actively participates in improving the game, and he's the most responsive designer I've ever had the pleasure of being associated with.

As for the frequently-praised and -damned WITP: the Pacific Theater is my primary sphere of WWII interest. If I wanted to turn myself into a virtual Monk of Makalapa, I might consider it. Unfortunately, I do have a real life and a family, so dedicating the time to understanding how to play this one is beyond my reach at the moment.

Oompa Loompa loompadidoo....have fun with that tune in your head for awhile now. ;)

What ever

I am sure all the WITP fan thank you for point out how they are not spending enough time with their families and how they need to get a “Real Life” .

Another gem from KG [8|]

Spoken like a true fanboy. Jeez, man, I'm not cutting down the game -- why so defensive?

I also purchased Reach For The Stars, what a piece. You ever figure out how to work the menus then you should write an addendum to the manual. That out of about 30 games from Matrix is the #1 worst game I bought, besides Titans Of Steel. Both are worthless. [:@]

I also have several baseball sims. Baseball Mogul 2008 is excellent too. [:)]

I can't speak for RFTS but I must say Blitzkrieg, that god-awful PocketPC/Palm piece of **** has got to be worse. I could go on for hours about the problem with the game and the lack of support up here (I hear there's a new version and Matrix hasn't done diddly about posting it or even commenting on it).

I have to give credit to the developer, if you're willing to email him personally, but he doesn't check the boards here and matrix does nothing to make up for it.

I know it was a weak product to begin with but Matrix should know when to cut something. That Matrix still lists the title for sale...well...we can draw whatever conclusions we want from that but none are pretty.
