KG Erwin -> RE: Best Matrix Game (8/30/2007 2:16:53 AM)

The best games are immersive, and lend themselves to replay. The best games also have superb customer support from the designers, and will see improvements and patches issued as necessary. That being said, I bought one Matrix game that I regard as a complete failure: Reach For The Stars. That was $20 wasted. Oh, well, it happens. On the flip side, I have nothing but the highest praise for a non-wargame: PureSim Baseball. Shaun Sullivan has a fanbase which actively participates in improving the game, and he's the most responsive designer I've ever had the pleasure of being associated with. As for the frequently-praised and -damned WITP: the Pacific Theater is my primary sphere of WWII interest. If I wanted to turn myself into a virtual Monk of Makalapa, I might consider it. Unfortunately, I do have a real life and a family, so dedicating the time to understanding how to play this one is beyond my reach at the moment.
