Coach Z -> Last Few Turns (2/19/2009 2:13:30 AM)

Boy am I styarting to hate those 4 Engine Bombers. HIs raid of 146 B-24s on Attu was devastating. But why am i only getting about 50% of my available fighters to fly CAP. My TONY & TOJO Sentais are on "Escort" 90% CAP...yet only about half of them oppose his 4 Engine Beasts!
Sometimes at Thursday Island I have 20 TONYs escorting my strikes from Port Moresby. How can this be possible if their sentais are set to 90% CAP? I only have 3 Sentais at Pt. Moresby with - 27, 30, 32 pilots. This is very confusing to me...especially when Thursday Island is out of the TONYs normal range so I don't think they can extend the CAP "umbrella" and tag along.
He has wiped out my forces on Adak Island and soon will be coming after Amchikita. I most hold Attu for as long as possible. Luckily I pulled out most of the 7th Infantry Division and that will help bolster my defenses there.

Coach Z -> RE: October 20, 1942 (2/19/2009 2:33:37 AM)

October 20th, 1942

The CVL's (or KB-Light) raid Funafeti Island and lose 5 Kates to Flak! OMG you have got to be kidding me....boy did my luck stink there. IJN ASW preforms well this turn but still another turn with no hits from my ASW aircraft.
He continues to make progress on New Caledonia and my invasion plans in the South Pacific are well underway. I will hit 3 islands in sequence which will eventually force him (hopefully) to shift his focus to this sector. By taking Canton Island, Wallis Island, and Funafeti Island I feel I will threaten his line of supply to New Caledonia and Australia and force him to bring the fleet out to play. I feel that he will not be able to use a large # of 4 Engine bobmers for a while since his other bases are either out of range or too small. Since he ambushed my CS and CLs off Baker, I have lost contact with his carriers. I believe they are either in Pearl or supporting his offensive in the Aleutians. I will use the Akagi and the new CVL Ryuho as a reserve just in case they show up, up North. I have already dedicated 3 Brigades, the South Seas Detachment, 2 large  SNLF, and 4 large Naval Guard Infantry Units to these operations.
Wish me luck!

Coach Z -> RE: October 21, 1942 (2/19/2009 2:44:31 AM)

October 21st, 1942

I can not believe the luck he is having at Myitkyina! Either he is having phenomomonal luck here or my luck sucked big time at Ichang. In 5 attacks he reduced the fortifications 4 times and has yet to suffer 2000 casualties once. Plus this turn with 0:1 odds he suffered several hundred less casualties then I did! I can't begin to tell you how much that just really sucks.
Looks like I will not be able to take Thuirsday Island, so I will begin withdrawing my troops there ASAP. But hopefully it has fixed his attention here and not to the southern Pacific. After the circle route of the KB-Light, hopefully he will think the KB is also just off raiding his shipping,

Coach Z -> RE: October 22, 1942 (2/19/2009 2:53:34 AM)

October 22nd, 1942
I find it hard to believe that he got a 1:1 outside of Canton. He had attacked me there several times previuosly and never could achieve a 1:1. Since that time I have evicted the Chinese from Canton and in so doing open the supply line tothat hex full throtle. Additionaly I had marched an additional brigade into that hex. Another mystery of the WitP engine!

Coach Z -> RE: October 23, 1942 (2/19/2009 3:05:21 AM)

October 23rd, 1942

The Allies continue to press forward on New Caledonia, resuming their attacks at La Foa.
The SS Swordfish misses an AP and is hit 4 times by IJN ASW.
I dont remember what day/turn it was, but in one day the APD-36 put two direct hits (each) on two different American submarines!
Once more his 4 Engine bombers pound a Japanese Base, this time it's Luganville. With 70+ TONYs there divided into two sentais and a chutai all at 90% CAP I am shocked and appalled when only 29 are found protecting the airfield. Is this some kind of bug or simply a curse?
In China IJA Tankers and Infantry continue to harras the Chinese souith of West of Kweilin.

Coach Z -> RE: October 24, 1942 (2/19/2009 4:04:00 PM)

October 24th

Floyd begins unloading additional troops at Koumac, a NZ Infantry Brigade. So much for his talk about pulling out of Koumac so he can force my troops at La Foa back. He probably realized that idea was not a smart one.
My Shock Atttack with my Tank Division fails to dislodge the Chinese 71st Infantry Division, even after some very succesful air support. Oh well I will have to rest them and probably pull them back. He is probably rushing another corps or two to Chungking, being that there was only 1 unit (probably a base force) garrisoning the Nationalist capital.
The two Corps that where probing eastward South East of Hengchow were forced to retreat to the southwest. They are in the woods and off the roads, so I expect it will take them several weeks to move into a new hex.
I reduced the fortifications at Yenen back to ZERO (again), and my troops look like they are in good enough shape to assault again tomorrow...we will see.
In Northern Australia I just missed a 2:1 by a dozen AV, so with my disruption decent (except for my SNLF unit) I will try again and hopefully drive the Allies back towards Charter Towers.
Still not getting a large number of my TONYs & TOJOs to fly CAp over my bases. Floyd's bombers attacked a TF at Pt Moresby and 6/9 Tojos flew and 36/69 TONYs flew. While thats more then half it's still not where I expected it to be if you place 90% on CAP. I understand that some planes will be cycling, but when your base is under attack doesn't everyone who can scramble, scramble? I would expect to see 50 some odd TONYs (out of the 69 present) in the air when I place their Sentais on 90% CAP and their base (hex) is attacked.
Was disappointed that my carrier planes from the KB did not strike Canton Island. They were 4 hexes away and placed on secondary air field strike. I am guessing that he has or will transfer those few SBDs from Funafeti to Canton now if he has not already done so.

ny59giants -> RE: October 24, 1942 (2/19/2009 6:51:29 PM)

Large Allied BF (aviation support of 90) carry some nasty flak. Put 2 of those in a base and you pay the price. In a prior PBEM using CHS, my opponent lost over 1 1/2 carriers worth of Vals in 2 days (we were playing 2 day turns) at Luganville. Needless to say, he stopped sending KB on raids again. [:D]

Your Cap problems - You need to go through your fighter daitai and check your leaders. They will sometimes get killed or "magically" moved to another unit. You don't want one that is careful and better suited for a patrol squadron in charge. Do this once every two months.

Allied 4e bomber - you need to face them with cannon equipped fighter. MG will not bring the "big boys" down. You need to be crafty and bomb the bases they come from. Trying to win the battle with your CAP will cause you to lose int he long run.

Logistics - this game is all about this. When you take on the Chinese hordes, you have to cut off their supply. They get so many replacements (about 600 rifle squads per month), that direct assaults just helps him gain experience. He wants combat to get them over 50 to increase his Assault Value.

Coach Z -> RE: October 24, 1942 (2/19/2009 8:32:24 PM)

Mike
Thanks for the post. (FYI we are playing STOCK) But at Funafeti he only had a single unit.
Earlier I went and replaced alot of Air Group Commanders; got more aggressive leaders and others with higher inspiration. I guess I have to check them out again!

Hmmm lets see.... according to the Tracker my 3 leaders of my TONY Sentais at Attu had aggressions of 69, 69, and 74. My Fighter Sentais at Luganville have aggression ratings of 68, 67, & 65. OK so let's check out the aggression of my Army Fighter commanders at Port Moresby, their aggression ratings are-71, 65, & 65. Even my TOJO commander at Mandalay who rarely flies escort, sweep, or LRCAP missions (he "refused" 1 of each in the last three days) has an aggression of 72 [and an air rating of 64]. So I don't know Michael their aggression #s don't seem too bad to me.
What do you think?

Unfortunately I am no longer in a position to bomb his base at Noumes or in range of his bases in North Easten Australia. I could only bomb NE Oz with Bettys with ZEROs as escorts. Port Moresby to Cooktown...9 hexes....a few days ago he had a whole group of P=39s there (30+) as well as a dozen Spitfires. Would you  still recommend that?

Unfortuantely in the beginning of the game I assumed that fighting the Chinese would be like in the old SPI board game and I could bludgeon them to death without much thought. So eventually I did, but even when I caught off Ichang; totally surrounded, it still held out for another two months and took forever for me to lower its fortifications even attacking with 300 IJA Engr Squads!

I recently used my Tank Division after purchasing from the Kwangtung Army Group and used that to "steal" Hengchow. I ahve now totally surrounded Chnagsha and will start working on that problem. I was attempting to rush my Tankers north to Chungking which was virtually undefended (just a baseforce-he had only 1 unit and aircraft there so I'm assuming it was an air base force), but unfortunately my Tankers tired out and now he's rushing reinforcements there. So I guess I'll focus on breaking out in the North; I took Yenen last night (havent posted those results yet) and trying to take Changsha. Unfortunately Yenen was ravaged virtually all the HI & Resources were destroyed.

Coach Z -> RE: October 25, 1942 (2/20/2009 7:24:26 PM)

October 25th, 1942

Floyd continues to unload his NZ Inf Bge at Koumac. He has also started attacking at La FOa with only some of his units, attempting to lessen the # casualties he takes. Two of his "Libert Ships" (AKs) hit mines unloading at Koumac, I feel its about time something bumped into a mine there. He keeps moving in and out w/o MSWs and hasn't hit a mine in a while. Hopefully he'll bump in to several more, I still have 1500+ there.
Yenen is captured. Now all of Northern China is at peril....I hope. But I was disappointed to see All of the HI and All of the resources damaged. I expected most if not all of the HI to bad damaged, but I had hoped (thought) that I would still have 50-100 operational resources-similar to when I took Darwin after a lenghty siege.
He apparently saw my TFs moving towards Canton Island, because yesterday there were no Hudsons based at Wallis Island. Well their there now, so he knows for certain that I have transports heading east. He can figure that its Canton Island. But now will he send his Carriers south to engage? I doubt it, unless his LBA can put a few hits on one of my carriers first, I'd expect the US Carrier force to stay in Pearl (?). He might venture out and try to raid Wake, but only time will tell.

Coach Z -> RE: October 26, 1942 (3/2/2009 11:03:35 PM)

October 26th, 1942
Floyd drives back some of my forces that had been pushing towards Perth. I have aleready given up any chance of taking Perth, but I would like to form a defensive line in Southern Australia as far front as is practicable. My Barges (AGs) are getting plastered by his PT Boats up north, but it was a risk I was willing to take to try and sneak some supply into Amchikita and some troops out.

Coach Z -> RE: October 27, 1942 (3/2/2009 11:21:49 PM)

October 27th, 1942

Was pleased with my strike on Changsha. I was a little worried, because sometimes (read 50%) my TOJO Sentais don't fly escort missions, but they did this time and very siccersfully I might add. It's funny to hear Floyd complain about air-to-air combat when he has 9 Hurricanes against 29 TOJOs and he thinks he's going to get an even exchange. I'm like..."You're outnumbered and flying older planes, what do you expect?" He's lucky he shot down a Sally!
Big raid on Attu; 110 B-24D's but only 31 TONYS rise to meet them....3 Sentais with over 80 pilots and planes...once more I think the # of my fighters responding is shall we say a bit low! I still shot down 20 bombers, but still lose several TONYS and other planes on the ground (almost double what the combat report said).
I am able to drive out the units he once more moved in to Ichang. I guess this is a way for him to make sure I keep a two division garrison there.
His attack at Myitkyina fails to reduce the forts, but he takes very light casualties considering (1:3 odds).

Coach Z -> RE: October 28, 1942 (3/2/2009 11:29:19 PM)

October 28th, 1942
My pre-invasion bombardment of Canton is HORRIBLE! My attack from the KB doesn't fly so I'll have to see what happens tomorrow. I hope the 3 guns I destroyed belong to what I suspect is a USMC Defense Bn/CD Arty unit.

Coach Z -> RE: October 30th & 31st, 1942 (4/11/2009 1:00:29 AM)

Yesh I know I've been busy, but I didnt realize that I let a whole month in real time pass w/o updating my AAR!
So to make up for time I'll be doing alot of summaries with only a few combat texts pasted in.

On October 29th I forgot to report that the SS Tautong sunk!

October 30th 1942
More troops unload at Canton Island.
An American sub gets a pick at the Kaga, when it attacks an IJN DD near Canton Island, but it missed.
The YAMATO, TONE, & CHIKUMA making another bombardment run at Canton Island, and again fail to produce significant results.
South of Rabaul, the SS Snapper is attacked by an IJN ASW TF and takes a direct hit.
Several more air raids are made in China (See below):

Floyd keeps expecting his fighters to do better, but I keep telling him they are outnumbered and often facing superior planes and pilots. While I have several sentais and datais training, I have a bunch in the 70's, and these are the ones he typically ends up dogfighting! I told him 52 TOJOs vs 12 Spitfires, he's lucky to only have lost 4....ok between us a chutai in the high 50's was involved but the 2 sentais involved both had good experience.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Another bombing run hits Luganville destroying another 12 Tonys on the ground plus other air craft.
51 B-24s hit the 35th Brigade in Australia. So he's moved some 4 Engine Bobmbers to Perth!
Several attacks strike at TFs near Canton Island and too many leakers cause a few bomb hits and over a hundred more troop casualties.
The CVLs (KB Light) hit Baker Island and cause minor damage...opps.
The KB finally hits Canton Island, but destroys no guns and no troops!

My forces on Canton shock attack again? I guess because more troops unloaded? Very confused about this whole affair and its killing me. We both thought Canton Island was an island and not an atoll....forgot to hit the damn '1' button!
The 19th Brigade disppears due to attrition on Canton Island! What a disaster.
His attack at Myitkyina fails to lower the forts, but he is taking very light casualties compared to my 0:1's in China.

Several more air attacks in China. Floyd does better at Changsha as my fighters do a bad job. Plus again he gets away easy at Wuchow...imho.

Coach Z -> November 1, 1942 (4/11/2009 1:05:09 AM)

November 1st, 1942

Ok I dont remeber or have any notes from November 1st...so go read Floyd's AAR and find out that part!

Never Mind I found my notes...stay here!

The SS Cuttlefish torpedoes the an AP
42 B-24Ds make a visit to Gili Gili, a few RUFES on CAP pop up but only damage afew B-24's and lose a couple of their own.
Floyd sends 65 4 Engine Dombers at the Port of Luganville. I had placed a couple of DDs and PGs there for the inevitable invasion. Well he figured out; duh-he's not that dumb only I am to keep them there after the air field has been closed. Both small (non-ASW) destroyers are hit as well as 2 PGs, and badly damaged.
3 TONYS out of a sentai of 29 all dedicated to fly an escort mission, actually fly! They face 10 Warhawks of the AVG over Myitkyina and I lose 2 Tonys, 6 Helens and 3 Sallys! It really bugs me when units with high (88) morale dont fly or barely fly these escort missions leaving my bombers out to dry!
Wellingtons and LB-30's from Dacca begin striking at the 55th IJA Division just south of Mandalay.
Floyd continues to attack my troops at La Foa, but he refuses to make an all out effort and continues to drag that campaign on, which is fine by me!

November 2nd, 1942

The AP Tenran Maru torpedoed yesterday, sinks.
Ships continue to withdraw from the Canton Island Invasion Disaster.
The KB-Light launches a raid on Baker Island, and an A6M2, an A6M3, a Val, and a Kate, are traded for 5 F4F-4's.
China is the tale of two air battles:
    1] The Japanese Escort is effective and Changsha's air field is cratered.
    2] The Japanese Escort is totally ineffective and many IJN planes are shot down. (As usual a group of Tojos do not fly escort).

Coach Z -> Nov 3, 1942 (4/12/2009 2:23:41 AM)

November 3rd, 1942

Another Amercian Sub sneaks into Attu and lays some mines. Very frustrating that I have aproximately 4000 mines at Attu and Wake, yet his subs wonder in and out with impunity! While I have lost a Destroyer and a PG to my own mines!
The SS Cuttlefish torpedoes another AP retreating from Canton Island...and I can't seem to find that darn Sub!
In another Allied Sub related succes, the SS Flying Fish puts a torpedo in to the AV Sanyo Maru heading towards Rabaul from Port Moresby.
Big 4 Engine Bomber Air Raid versus Attu; as usual only 50 % of my TONYS fly and for some reason none of my A6M3's fly CAP. Floyd begins to complain when I shot down several B-24s, but he still makes it through destroying over 15 Tonys on the ground (Fog of War hand under reported the loss).

Will try!

Coach Z -> RE: Nov 4, 1942 (4/14/2009 1:16:14 AM)

November 4th, 1942

The SS Flying Fish puts two torpedoes in to an AK south of Rabaul.
The replenished YAMATO, TONE, & CHIKUMA make a bombardment run at Baker Island and accomplish virtually nothing (69 casualties and 8 guns to show for several points of system damage). I had hoped to pocket the runway a bit and maybe destroy a few PBYs.

Floyd begins hitting the airfield at Myitkynia. About time, I was surprised that he hadn't been doing this for two main reasons: [1] to lower my supply and [2] to keep my Engineers bust repairing the airfield and not building up the fortification level!

Another raid launcxhed against Attu:
Day Air attack on Attu Island , at 92,34

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 8
A6M3 Zero x 6
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 14

Allied aircraft
B-24D Liberator x 110

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed, 4 damaged
A6M3 Zero: 1 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 3 destroyed, 9 damaged
G4M1 Betty: 4 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
B-24D Liberator: 13 destroyed, 20 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
42 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 30
--------------------------------------------------------

PAUSE to RUN TURN....just can't catch up!

Floyd continues to attack in Burma with Wellingtons and LB-30's from Dacca, and it seems my Fighters arfe not responding well since there are no interceptions. My TONYs and TOJOs are in the next hex ranged at 4 and on 90% CAP...oh well.

ANother strike on Myitkiyina with a whole sentai of TONYs dedicated as escorts and again only 3 fly escort!

Day Air attack on 1st Burma Rifles Brigade, at 36,28

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 3
Ki-21 Sally x 11
Ki-49 Helen x 36

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 6

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-49 Helen: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 3 damaged

Allied ground losses:
32 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

I'm lucky I only lost 3 bombers!

Two IJA Tank Regiments continue chasing the defeated former defenders on Yenen and Shock attack them further west towards Kungchang!

Planes spot the USS North Carolina and possibly two other US Battleships up in the Aleutians
Alice Springs expanded its airfield to size 4...this is bad news! Pretty soon I'll see B-17s and B-24s flying from the middle of Australia. Good thing I have some Tojos and Tonys ready...okay so the Tonys are probably still a few days away!

Coach Z -> RE: Nov 4, 1942 (4/14/2009 6:59:28 PM)

Additional  iNfo (in other words opps I forgot something)

Forgot to mention in the last few updates the the 2nd USMC which had been leading the fight at La Foa is no longer there.
I guess he is planning on using it and some other troops to recapture Efate or Luganville.
I think he pulled the 2nd USMC DIvision out around Halloween.

Coach Z -> Nov 5, 1942 (4/14/2009 7:36:34 PM)

November 5th, 1942

The Dutch Sub KXIV avoids two ASW TFs and then slips a torpedo in to the IJN DD Fuyo, a member of one of these ASW TFs!

Day Air attack on Changsha , at 47,36

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 20
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 24
Ki-21 Sally x 46
Ki-48 Lily x 5

Allied aircraft
Hurricane II x 1
P-40B Tomahawk x 3
P-40E Warhawk x 9

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 2 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-21 Sally: 2 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Hurricane II: 1 damaged
P-40B Tomahawk: 2 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied ground losses:
25 casualties reported

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 3
Runway hits 46

A bad job by the Escorts; had the Allies outnumbered 44:13 even with a section of the AVG we still should have done better then equal loses!

Another large raid (85) of 4 Engine Bombers on Attu destroys over a dozen Japanese planese on the ground. Only 12 TONYs manage to take off and shot down only 5 of the offending American aircraft.

I continue to attack Allied positions on the Darwin-Alice Springs road to reopen LOC with my Tank Rgt, Mixed Bge and SNLF that were moving on Alice Springs. Although we achieve a 2:1 we are unable to force the Allies to withdraw and suffer over 1000 casualties to 82 for them!

My Tanks in China are stalled in another Shock Attack on the road to Kungchang.

Floyd makes another small attack on La Foa with only some of his troops.

Coach Z -> RE: Nov 6, 1942 (4/14/2009 9:26:00 PM)

November 6th, 1942

Finally a succesful IJN ASW attack! But unfortunately it comes after the S-23 torpedoes a MSW at Attu, then suffers a direct hit and 4 total hits.
The Destroyer Fuyo torpedoed the other day, sinks in Singapore harbor.

3 Wellingtons attack the 55th Division soutrh of Mandalay, but today the IJA AF CAP has flown! 17 TONYS stand ready to meet them; they damage 1 Wellington and simply let the rest fly by and bomb the troops!

Another Air Attack from MAnadaly flies with only a hint of an escort (4 TONYs today) but luckily they slip past most of the Buffalos on LRCAP over Myitkyinna. (My TOJO sweep didnt fly either, but rhats another stpry).

In the PM Phase the 4 Wellingtons return to bomb the 55th Division and the 17 TONYs are still there, this time one of the bombers is hot down, but two of the fighters are damaged...they still bomb the IJA troops but miss due to the TONYs harrasment.

A small air raid informs Floyd of my mining operations in the Aleutians:
=========================================
Day Air attack on TF, near Attu Island at 92,34

Japanese aircraft
A6M3 Zero x 3
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 9

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 3 damaged

Japanese Ships
ML Ma 4
ML Ma 3
ML Kurokami, Bomb hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage [and is SUNK]
==================================================

Trying to force my way from Yenen to Kungchang I Shock Attack with my two Tank Regiments again, but the Chinese stand firm and I lose over 100 men and 10 vehicles (plus both units now have disruptions in the seventies!).

The Allies again launch a small attack at La Foa with only their armor, an RCT, and 1 Division and score a minor success.

Coach Z -> RE: Nov 7, 1942 (4/14/2009 10:33:14 PM)

November 7th, 1942

An AK spotted up in the Aleutians is hit by a PB2Y!
Darn it for the # of subs and ships I spot I wish I'd get a few more hits!

The SS S-44 is finally corners south of Rabaul and sunk by IJN ASW forces! I've had 3 ASW TFs each lead by at least 1 DD circling the waters south of Rabaul trying to get hit on the three Allied subs I keep spotting there! But two direct hits from the IJN Destroyer Arare and a few other little hits send her down!
An Allied AK hits a mine in Noumea and is badly damaged.

At last one of my Sweeps is flown over Myitkyina, and 27 TONYS are met in the sky by 5 P-38G's of the AVG; only 2 P-38s are shot down and the rest escape with no loses to the IJA fighters. A second Sweep of 10 TOJOs also sees the AVG P-38's, but alas, the Americans refuse to engage.
---------------------------------
A Chinese Corps advances back towards Yenen up from track from Sian and is crushed by the majority of the IJA forces who just took Yenen!

Coach Z -> RE: Nov 8, 1942 (4/15/2009 1:41:57 AM)

November 8th, 1942

Joy of Joys the S-38 is Hit by a HELEN flying ASW near Port Moresby! He has had two or three subs outside of PM and I keep trying to get them with 2 ASW TFs plus I have two good sentais of Helens on ASW (Experience 81 & 79).

But 3 US Destroyers put a hurting on the I-157 up in the Aleutians...hopefully she'll be able to withdraw.

Floyd keeps up with his eccentris habit of flying Blenheims at night to annoy different bases in Burma. He has done this throughout the game and only garnered 1 runway hit.

The SS Sunfish strikes a mine at Wake! About time I have 4000 mines at Wake and this is the 1st time one of his subs have run into one! I hope that damn sub sinks!

Once more Allied bombers from Dacca attack my troops south of Mandalay and once more I feel they got off easy!
-----------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on 55th Division, at 32,29

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 15

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Wellington III: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hold my horses, the S-43 torpedoes one of my MSWs at Wake! So even when I win I lose....arrrrggggghhh!

Many IJA Level Bombers from Darwin hit the Australian units which have moved in to the Darwin-Alice Springs-Charter Towers Crossroads, as a perlimanary to a major IJA Attack (See below then see pic following)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assorted bombardment attacks all over the place and once more a small Deliberate Attack is made by one unit at La Foa.

Coach Z -> The Darwin-Alice Springs-Charter Towers Crossroads (4/15/2009 1:44:36 AM)

We've been fighting over the control of this Crossroads for sometime now. I consider holding this point critical because it allows me to threaten Alice Springs; although I am no longer certain I will be able to take Alice Springs.[
