Was Horton the one who did the Bismark and Battle of New Orleans songs ? At least better than the afternoon delight song.

Yes. Those are Johnny Horton songs.

Or Stan Rogers

Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea.

Not his birthday, his wedding anniversary.

He's close though. Birthday on the 3rd and anniversary on the 15th. Purposefully done to help absent-minded Martians not forget important dates. [8D] Wife was in Africa then so we delayed the celebration.

Thanks to all. It was an excellent dinner!

For those wine lovers here, we had a bottle of pinot noir from this winery. Outstanding!!

Hmm, I really like a good Pinot Noir. I have had a wine from there before. Was there a specific type/year you enjoyed ?

Ahhh, an Oregon Pinot...I love them, but most of my family and extended family won't drink anything that isn't Aussie.

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 7:30:11 PM)

Just finished watching "The Chronicles of Riddick" on TNT in HD.  It's mind candy, but for some reason, I really dig that movie.  [8D]  It looks great in HD.

There are some great Aussie wines ( hell, I like all sorts of wine [:)] ) favorite red is a Rhone though.

I also really like Rhone reds, but they used to be a bargain. Not so much any more.

California Red Zins are probably my current favorites. I can't get them in OZ, but they are easy to find when I am in the US.

Indeed!

Turned out to be anti-climactic. No major changes in position in the G.C. Alberto, Andy and Lance proved to be the strongest among those competing for the lead.

Anyways, kudos to the three who - barring disaster tomorrow - will be standing on the final podium in Paris.

I agree, most Rhones have gotten too pricey. And I also like Zins ( but see, I like everything ). I seem to remember reading that the recent dry conditions in parts of the grape growing regions in OZ have negatively effected a lot of the winerys. Have you heard any such thing ? I have had some Shiraz , and Petite Sirahs I have really liked from Down Under.

I have not heard anything; all I have done for the last 12 months is work and read books about the PTO. [:)]

Actually a very good film. Not something you'd expect for a Vin Diesel vehicle.

Agreed. Solid movie. I am hoping to rent it in Blu-ray one of these days.

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:28:17 PM)

I don't think there's ever been this many people in this place on a Saturday evening... Wonder what they're looking for?[:D]

Wirraway_Ace -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:31:41 PM)

Looking or lurking? They don't seem to be posting.

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:32:40 PM)

Just waiting......

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:34:32 PM)

I am talking with friends[:)]

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:35:27 PM)

Well, me too, Mr. Peabody. I was referring to the 30 or so members hovering in the AE subforum...[:D]

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:35:58 PM)

This is the first day in a long, long time where I have time to just sit and putz around.

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:36:25 PM)

Well, enjoying your putzing?

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:38:28 PM)

Yes I am. I'm considering looking at the Threadwar. I really miss playing WitP. By the way, I still haven't told my wife AE is coming out in a couple of days. I'm sure I'll get the "I'll see you next week" line. [:D]

Mike Solli -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:39:22 PM)

I haven't played WitP in a couple of months, the longest I've gone without it since it came out. [:(]

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:40:02 PM)

You're sure you remember how?

BrucePowers -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/25/2009 8:42:49 PM)

I have been given permission to buy it as a late birthday present. I will buy after work the day it is released.[:)]

Hey Bruce, can you send me the turn and the replay? I managed to accidentally delete them from both of my emails. [sm=dizzy.gif]
