I could be wrong but isnt a Canso a Catalina, just produced in Montreal/candian name for it?
Technicly tho ill give Danlongman full credit for his answer, the plane that the VC recipients flew in is a Canso as i read it, but i could be wrong.

Canadian Catalinas were named Canso by the Royal Canadian Air Force in accordance with contemporary British naming practice of naming seaplanes after coastal port towns, in this case for the town of Canso in Nova Scotia.
