If you say this attack on Austria was out of obligation to Russia, then it should be no surprise that we are obligated to our ally as well.

Italy will not vanish like your army in Austria has done. Please visit, there is plenty of food for everyone!

Cordially,

Jose Canusi
Foriegn Minister and Undersecretary to the King of Spain

We do not talk to lesser diplomats, so this one is to the King of Spain.

Well, yes we have no problem with the fact that you wanted war with France, after all it has been evident to all that Spain will not be satisfied untill all of Europe is ruled from Madrid, and when Britain decided to ally with Spain, we knew what was coming. It is HOWEVER the way the war was innitiated that made us furious, and is why you will now be sent out of Italy. However as previously mentioned, unlike some other nations, France has NOT depleted her population...
Our armies will soon swell with fresh recruits, and you'd better watch your flank.

And rest assured, when we arrive in Spain, orders have been issued to send all pieces of art back to France, so be prepared to reap your full reward!

Anthropoid -> RE: PBEM 109 (9/23/2009 10:45:05 AM)

I think there MIGHT be a corruption issue with T56? I can't see any Events in mine, even though I have (seemingly) DLed the .rep file.

If no one else is having a problem, I'll try re DLing later on.

Kingmaker -> RE: PBEM 109 (9/23/2009 10:51:18 AM)

HiHi

'Events' showing OK in my T56, including x2 french battles so asume thats it all, are you sure both the .sve & .rep fles downloaded OK?

All the Best
Peter

terje439 -> RE: PBEM 109 (9/23/2009 11:07:50 AM)

No issues at my end either.
Apart from the fact that my Armee du Center is lacking alot of men...No wait...That was were Spanish cowardice came into play [:D]

I'm really enjoying this game, if I haven't already said so. [:)]

Anthropoid, did you get the file figured out? Sounds like you may have forgot to dl the replay file.

You'll really be happy after another 50 turns or so-perhaps deliriously so after another 19 years.[;)]

I have to say this game presents some very good strategic dilemmas.

Anthropoid -> RE: PBEM 109 (9/24/2009 2:37:12 PM)

It _is_ really nice to see everyone acting like a true Machiavellian "arsehole" but with a pleasant smile [:D] as they slide the knife between their "friends" ribs . . .

Now that Russia has got it all stirred up with Britain and Prussia, I open my turns with a bit of a white knuckle anticipation about where/how/when they gonna smack me back into my rightful place as the poor step-child of Europe . . . [:'(]

Just a clarification there: with the current game engine/mechanics you cannot in Terms of Surrender "take" provinces that are not adjacent right? Which means (assuming that is correct) that British occupation of Tver is more or less . . . INKONSUKWENSHUL . . .?? That would mean that it was all just a . . . KLEVUR RUSE . . . ??

I've also been wondering about that whole "Insurrection" suitcase nuke thing that we had the uprawr about in the other one. Are guys just setting their Dips to Capture/Expel more now or what? We certainly do not seem to be having (YET!) the same magnitude of "problems." Is there a consensus-=-since we realized the easy and fairly effective defense against it-=-that it really is not such a big deal as was originally feared?

Oh, it's a big deal alright. The two times it was used in our game it caused some big problems for a couple of nations. It works very well. It should not be a game breaker unless the players go bonkers with it. Anyone ever see the Simpsons episode where the whole family has to go for counselling and they get strapped into chairs with devices to give and receives shocks-to/from each other?? They made the city lights go out.

If you cause an insurrection, expect to be hit back with the same.

Oh, it's a big deal alright.

It's also still too easy to do and entirely dependent on luck.

Also from what I have seen in the event reports you can be doing everything right on the defense (high legal diplomat in friendly territory not moving set to capture/expel) and the attacking diplomat still gets first shot at causing an insurrection before you do your expel roll.

And troops in a province have no effect?

lenin -> RE: PBEM 109 (9/24/2009 7:51:40 PM)

I hope they do sort the diplomat thingie out in the next patch. Sort of ruined the game for me as Prussia in "another pbem". Still, I have enough life in me to cause Anthropoid a few headaches before Mus wins....[:D]

I am aware that France has not had an easy time over the past year. I congratulate you on this significant turn of events. I could not help to notice your advance in Italy. Not that I have any great joy over the humiliation of Spain, but I am quite pleased to see you getting closer to the Austrian Empire.

The Ottoman Empire has had a long year at war with Austria-you know, the war started by Russia which the O.E. has carried on at great cost. It has apparently been costly for Austria also. Their falling manpower is evident for all to see.

The O.E. battles on.

Turkey T60 in.
