Rugens -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/21/2009 8:28:56 PM)

If it will help I will be glad to try and do a test merge.  I am Spain in the Danish Too game so I know the merge process works fine on either of my computers.

Mccoy -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/21/2009 8:31:03 PM)

As for my part I have resent the correct files this time (donesve.- donerep.). Sorry Aqui.
Carl I 'd love to let you do my turns, but Im afraid I 'd be left with just my capital in a couple of game months. It would make the game simpler for me though-thank you for your consideration.[:D]

Thank you for your kind words. It is flattering that you feel I would have left you your capital.[:D]

Just want to repeat my request that all players send their files to westphalian at live.it address set up specifically for this game so we can all notice if somebody sends the wrong file in the future.

8 heads are better than one.

And was that the problem? McCoy sent the wrong files? Are we redoing the turn merge now?

Aqui?

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/21/2009 10:07:19 PM)

WITH NEW MC COY FILES IS THE SAME..it's strange that when I select 'end turn' the program asks me if Brit, Austrian and Prussian troops can exit from French.
I will send you the final message I received

You have to answer those. I want to withdraw, so please select Yes for me. I would be surprised if the other powers didn't also want to withdraw. There are only a few reasons not to do so after a victory.

It's a result of France surrendering.

What happens after you answer Yes or No?

If you answer Yes to all the questions and then get an error message please post a screenshot of it (printscreen and paste to paint) so we can see.

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/21/2009 11:15:25 PM)

Aqui, describe in full what happens, what the error message says and post a screenshot.

I am asking a player who has merged a bunch of turns in "Another PBEM" to look and see if he has run into this.

Crossing my fingers that this has happened to him and he knows why and how to avoid it, otherwise this could be a real pain.

I am afraid its more serious than that. I ve sent the files 4 times. Just made the usual mistake once.

Kingmaker -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/21/2009 11:48:42 PM)

HiHi

Aqui, Mus forwarded the screenshot of the 'Error message' but I'm afraid I haven't come across that ... (yet)

What, "may?", work for you is deleteing all the turns returned files currently in the PBEM folder, then reload them from the emails and try again, it's a bummer I know but it's the sort of thing you sometimes have to do as 'the Merger', failing that then it's gonna be a Tech suport job, sorry can't be of any greater help.

Good Luck.

All the Best
Peter

Aqui, just an Afterthought, remember the whole of the 'Merge' process must be done as a continious action. So what I do if those 'Withdrawl' questiond come up is say "Yes" to complete the merge then email the individuals concerned and post on the Game MB, 9x out of 10, "Yes" will be what they wish so you can then just send out the new turn, if someone answers "No" then swear lots very loudly & kick next doors cat, then redo the whole of the merge process again.

All the Best
Peter

evwalt -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 12:10:37 AM)

If that is it, YES for a British withdraw.

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 1:54:05 AM)

Following Kingmakers suggestions, delete all the files and redownload them from the emails. Try to remerge all in one move like he also mentioned. Answer yes on all the questions.

If that doesn't work aqui, post a thread in tech support and we will have to put the game on hold.

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 8:37:33 AM)

I tried as you said, Kingmaker, but it doesn't work. I posted a thread in tech support
aqui

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 10:04:15 AM)

This is not good. I hope we can get an answer in a reasonable period of time.

Are you sure none of the files are bad/corrupted?

Are they all the appropriate size? IF any of them are really big or small maybe they are corrupted?

We could try that I suppose.

Everyone like the idea of making their Turn 11 move again and we try to remerge?

I will send my new files.

PS new Aus T11 files sent in.

Ironclad -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 1:57:43 PM)

Agreed. Will redo/resend T11.

Redone files sent.

evwalt -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 3:49:33 PM)

Britain will re-do her turn. Since Turkey is back, I suggest that he go ahead and redo his turn.

Mccoy -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/22/2009 7:38:24 PM)

Sweden Turn11  redone and sent.

Turn sent and was zipped.

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/23/2009 12:42:08 PM)

I tried to load move with new files (I used the french old one, because Chindits forgot to send new file) but the result was the same (error...).
Please re-send files in .zip mode (read the suggestion in tech thrad)
aqui

Mccoy -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/23/2009 6:32:17 PM)

Sweden T11 zipped and sent.
Aqui if I dont give any life signs till next turn, please fwrd the T12 files to Mus.
Mus, instructions and password coming up. Thanks!

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/23/2009 10:35:02 PM)

Aqui has anything changed on your end since the turn before? Hardware or software?

Resent my files zipped, but haven't seen unzipped files cause an issue in the 3 other PBEMs I have done, so would be surprised if this fixed it.

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/25/2009 6:26:07 AM)

No, I didn't change hardware, or software.
I used new zip files (except for Russian and french that didn't send) but it doesn't work.
Checking in the files you sent I notice only one singularity: all Mc Coy files are different from the others as size. For example some .REP file is '0' (a clear mistake during zipping progress), some 145 and the more similar 125), when all the other are exactly 124.
it's all
aqui

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/25/2009 8:25:01 AM)

McCoys files should be about the same size as all the other ones, so I would say that is a possible problem.

I can redo his turn and send it. He gave me his password and instructions since he is gone.

I will send it to the live.it address.

Edit: Sent the Sweden T11 files to both addresses. Try the merge with those. They are not zipped (I do NOT think that is the problem for the record, we don't zip them in any of the other PBEM games I am in and haven't seen this issue).

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/25/2009 9:10:51 AM)

I tried but it's not working; mc coy files are innocent
aqui

Mus -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/25/2009 9:20:18 AM)

Damn.

Nobody else had files of an odd size compared to the others?

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/26/2009 5:26:07 PM)

we could try to do as they write in tech support..but to do this we need the cohoperation of everybody (chindits included that is utterly disappeared)
aqui

Ironclad -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/26/2009 6:05:26 PM)

Aqui:

You are probably fed up receiving suggestions but for what its worth here is another. If you haven't already done so how about testing that there is no problem with your system by carrying out a repeat of the turn 10 merge? If this works as it did before then the answer must lie in the turn 11 files that have been submitted.

Reverting to the old COG pbem system is an alternative but not one that I favour as its so time consuming and frankly more difficult to sustain. If we have to redo the T11 files yet again we could even use the new T10 test merge as the basis - although of course it would give different results from the previously issued T10 merge outcome so there would need to be player agreement on doing that.

aqui -> RE: Westphalia Discord--1792 standard (8/27/2009 7:50:09 AM)

what you (ironclad) suggest is really good but I erased all old files so I need you resend them and It look like some people give up this game (how long we didn't hear any news from french player? 2 weeks?)
The proposal to use old COG method was reserved to only 12th turn but your idea is better
