Challerain -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (8/29/2009 10:04:30 PM)

I took the 8th spot so you can get the league drafted. Since I have other teams I will gladly bow out if anyone else wnats the spot.

USSAmerica -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (9/8/2009 9:29:30 PM)

We now have an odd number of teams in the Basic league.  Anyone sitting on the fence, please join us.  It's lots of fun, and the prize is a Matrix Games download.  [8D]

Challerain -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (9/9/2009 1:10:55 AM)

Like I posted above, I'll drop this league as I have a few other teams. I just joined to get the number even. However, 10 teams is much better than 8......

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (9/12/2009 5:18:46 PM)

We got 8 teams so I ran the draft. Hopefully everyone in the basic league will stay active.

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (10/28/2009 1:23:41 PM)

Sorry for the issues with getting the budgets updated. My win 7 upgrade left me with a laptop that only works in VGA mode until (if?) Toshiba comes up with a video driver that works...

May have to go back and reinstall Vista...but I really like the speed of Win 7...

I will try to get thins updated this weekend. If anybody thinks they really got hosed because of this, let me know...

Again my apologies for the technical difficulties...

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/15/2009 1:28:24 PM)

Matrix Fantasy Football Playoffs are in full swing this week!

In the Classic League We have 4 8-5 teams going at it:

USS America Stepdads (who I failed to knock out...) vs Long Island Mad Cows and
Drunken Armadillos vs Bay Area Nightmares

In the Pro League (the stat havy league with IDPs) We have Matrix Own 11-2 Green Giants vs 8-5 Little Guitars and
10-3 Hessian Cavalry vs 8-5 Fudgehammers

In the Hall of Fame League (the points heavy keeper league) we have 10-4 Poundcake vs 8-6 Norther Horde and
the Vebber Family Smackdown as my daughter (using MY strategy against me...:( Yikes the Vikes at 9-5 takes on my faltering Pack of Pain (who'd a thunk Aaron Rodgers and Kurt Warner would COMBINE for negative points.... Duhoooooo!)

Maybe nexk year I will have to use my daughter's draft strategy of "picking the cutest guys" (She ended up with Tom Brady and Wes Welker, Tony ROmo and Jason Witten and Brett Favre and Bernard Berian...) and added insult to injury with Larry Fitzgerald and Ricky Williams... Well if I have to lose, at least its to someone who is strong in the Fantasy Force ;)

Good luk to all!

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/18/2009 4:21:48 PM)

Dang...sorry I missed the league this year.

I was gonna pick Drew Brees

Challerain -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/22/2009 5:06:45 PM)

Well, both of my teams bought it this week....almost had those Green Giants!

Best of luck to all who are left in the championships.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/22/2009 5:33:10 PM)

You came very close to knocking me out - I was definitely relieved when Steve Smith caught that TD! We went 1-1 on the year, doesn't get more even than that.

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/23/2009 12:15:00 AM)

The finals are set!

In the Pro league, Erik and his Dominant 1 seed Green Giants play 2 seed Hessian Cavalry. The giants recent run was keyed by the resurgence of Alex Smith, the indominable Maurece Jones Drew and High flying Robert Meachem on Offense and Jonathon Vilma and Barrett Ruud on D. The Cav brings the dynamic duo of Frank Gore and Johnthin Stewert, the Deep threat of Aaron Rodgers and Andre Johnson on Offense, but will be without Keith Bullock, leaving him Derrelle Revis, David Hawthorn, and Charles Woodson.

Int he Basic League it is 1 Seed USS America Stepdads featuring Peyton Manning, DeSean Jacson and Jamal Charles vs 3 seed Bay Area Nightmares, led by Tony Romo, Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson.

And in the Hall of Fame legue, I make up for my end of season slump dragging my Pack o' Pain from 1 to 3 seed with a smashing of my upstart daughter to face 4 seed Northern Horde. Aaron Rodgers and Josua Cribbs have anchored my lineup the last 4 games, while NH features the Manning Bros and Andre Johnson.

Alot of commonality menas that there will be a lot of hope placed on players who may not have a lot to play for to come up big!

Frandoxxx -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/23/2009 12:16:17 AM)

Erik, I am the dreaded Hessian Calvary it is do or die time this weekend. No prisoners will be taken! [:D]

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/28/2009 4:12:52 PM)

Well two of this years leagues are decided as Erik's Green Giants have 626-601 lead and one player in tonights game to reign as the Matrix Pro Champs.

My Pack o' Pain survived narrowly 171-167 against Northern Horde in the Hall of Fame League. I'm hoping to get all the manageers (and more) back next year to make this a keeper league.

So a free game is still on the line in the Classic League where Bay Area Nightmares needs a TD tonight from Adrian Peterson to make up the 8 point deficit to USS America Stepdads, who left McNabs 24 points on the bench to go with Peyton Manning's partial game 7.

Arctic Blast -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/28/2009 9:07:30 PM)

So...close! Curse you, Manning Brothers and Marques Colston! [:D]

Another great year. And I'm definitely interested in a keeper league. [:)]

USSAmerica -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/29/2009 3:51:34 AM)

Peterson just scored a few minutes ago to do me in, unless he manages to fumble a couple of times in the 4th quarter.  Great fun, once again this year.  Thanks for organizing things, Paul.  The USS America Orioles will be reporting to spring training in about 7 weeks.  [;)]

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/29/2009 2:56:18 PM)

Congrats to Bay Area nightmares as our only game winner in football this year. Between Erik and I we successfullydefended Matrix's House in the Pro and Hall of Fame League. Though I have to publicly state that yes, Megan had you played me in the champiionship YOU WOUD HAVE WON [&o]. But you DIDN'T and I AM THE CHAMP!!! [:'(][:D][8D]

Poolmick -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/30/2009 4:54:05 AM)

Congrats Erik, Thanks Paul for setting up and running it.

Looking forward to next year.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (12/30/2009 5:01:39 AM)

Thanks everyone, it was a fun and challenging season. I feel I got lucky more than anything, but it's still nice to take home the trophy. Thanks as always to Paul for setting up and running the league. See you all next year!

Scott_WAR -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (1/18/2010 5:29:34 PM)

Bah,...missed it this year,......didnt get to defend my trophy. [:(]

I'll make sure to get back into it next year. I might be interested in a keeper league as well.

Phatguy -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/2/2010 2:21:13 AM)

Dont use yahoo..I cannot get it working properly

chadandpia -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/14/2010 8:57:56 PM)

I just saw that the fantasy leagues at yahoo are up and available now. We plan on doing it again? My Bay Area Knightmares are chomping at the bit! [:'(]

Poolmick -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/19/2010 4:43:46 PM)

I hope so.

Paul Vebber -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/19/2010 7:55:34 PM)

I to have been having problems with yahoo this year. I have all but given up on Fantasy Baseball because my changes never "stick" - if I can get on at all. Tried Chrome, Safari, Firefox. not sure what the deal is.

I am investigating the choices this year. Fox has some good featuers, like specifiying points for each postion, so say WR and RBs can get seperate points for recs and rushes.

Hi Paul,

First, thanks for managing the leagues for us. It's a lot of fun, and I'm really looking forward to September.

Second, I have a request. When you put the position's format together, would you please consider having TE as a dedicated player category, rather than just another receiver type ?

Tight-End is a critical position in the NFL, but there are very, very few Dallas Clark-types available. Because of that, as a group, they really didn't seem to play the role in our league that they did in the real thing.

Thanks!

Scott_WAR -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/22/2010 8:22:39 PM)

Well, when there are too few players at a position to go around, its NOT a good idea to make that a specific position that everyone must have. Far too many teams have TE's that never touch the ball. So a handful of fantasy teams will have a player that will score points for them, but most fantasy teams will just have a spot on their roster that doesnt make points, meaning the people that draft early will have even MORE of an advantage.

Arctic Blast -> RE: Fantasy Football 2009 (6/22/2010 10:17:36 PM)

I do see more teams throwing to the tight end, though. Almost every team should be able to land a guy who can put up okay numbers, at least.
