grisouille_slith -> RE: Read the first post first (9/30/2009 12:09:13 PM)

When I try to load a saved game with witpstaff, I have the following error message!

[image]local://upfiles/25297/C7ACAFF79B9E41D9855340526156C50D.jpg[/image]

Woos -> RE: Read the first post first (9/30/2009 7:35:11 PM)

Third bullet first post (most probable) or 6th bullet first post (i.e. you installed the old hotfix despite the warning).

aoffen -> RE: Read the first post first (10/5/2009 6:31:01 AM)

My apologies if this has been asked but whereas previously I could get WitpStaff to run now suddenly it won't. A little DOS box comes up, asks me to press a key to continue and then dissappears with no game start. In the decoder log file I get an error message as follows :

config.directory is Campaign
Now trying plugin UPGTestPlugin

Anyone got any ideas what went wrong? Am running a Mac with Snow Leopard and the latest version of Fusion2 running a clean copy of XP. Problem happens both in a Fusion window and in Bootcamp. Don't think its a Mac issue.

Thanks for the help

Regards
Andrew

aoffen -> RE: Read the first post first (10/5/2009 6:47:21 AM)

False alarm. Deleted the Campaign sub folder and it fired up fine. Sorry.....

Woos -> What this dll problem was all about: (10/5/2009 11:24:42 PM)

For all of you who had fun due to the problem mentioned in the first bullet of the first post (and this also means all the WitpTracker users hit by the same problem):
Microsoft is taking some flak for breaking builds around the globe, see http://blogs.msdn.com/vcblog/archive/2009/08/05/active-template-library-atl-security-updates.aspx (extremely technical). Alas Microsoft's VC++ team is promising to do it again (see the post of user vcblog on september 23rd 6:23 pm). So lets hope WitpAE does not need any dll updates after the next VC++ security fix.

littleike -> RE: What this dll problem was all about: (10/12/2009 4:28:42 PM)

Hi all

i have a trouble with witpstaff. I can initialize the DB from scenery 1 of Witp_AE but when i try to load a save game i have a series of errors.
I read very closely the first message of this thread, (points 1,6) and post 91 and i have a doubt:

It seems witpstaff have had some patch released, but i cannot find them.
Did i understood wrong or what?

My configuration game come strictly from the buyed (last few days) WitpAE download main release plus the cumulative patch and the hotfix.

Thanks by a really new witp and witpAE user.

ps: Here the log file (with the same game file wittptracker AE seems ok)

erstad -> RE: What this dll problem was all about: (10/18/2009 12:25:23 AM)

When WitpStaff is showing where engines are being used, it shows active producing factories and R&D factories. It would be nice if it also showed current factories that were turned off as well. Then you could see all of the demand that you might want to satisfy.

Kull -> RE: Read the first post first (10/20/2009 8:12:08 AM)

Here's a comment that *hopefully* people will read and embrace before posting their next bug report. I had several different problems involving my WitPStaff installation, and it took just over an hour to finally resolve them all - but the point is that I READ THE ENTIRE THREAD and consulted the manual, and that's all that was necessary for me to fix the problems myself.

This project is a volunteer effort - nobody is getting paid. So it's the height of arrogance for anyone to decide that their time is more valuable than somebody else's. Take the time to read and understand, and then fix it yourself. At least if you fail, you've had the "honor" of discovering something new, and Woos won't be pounding his keyboard in despair.

That said:

quote:

Third bullet first post (most probable) or 6th bullet first post (i.e. you installed the old hotfix despite the warning).

Mea culpa, mea culpa. I quickly scanned your first post and didn't see my (first) problem mentioned. So I slowly worked my way through the posts, and over the course of 5 pages, you and several others mentioned the importance of the hotfix. Sounded like a good idea, and when someone else mentioned a link on the front page, I went back, saw a nice blue hotlink, and downloaded the "patch". Now was it preceded by a warning in bold black font? Sure it was. But I wasn't looking for warnings, I was looking for a link called "hotfix", and I found it! And installed it. So yes, on one level I'm a moron. But on the other hand, I was doing EXACTLY what you want people to do - read the whole thread and find the problems themselves.

So please, eliminate the link to a file that will do only one thing - break the program. Warning messages aren't even necessary if you remove the bullets from the gun. [;)]

Keep in mind, that what we will hopefully be releasing this comming week will NOT be patch02, it will be the patch02 public beta. Some people think these are the same things but they are not. The release of patch02 is at least 2 weeks out, allowing for one week of perculation for the public beta. But there is a 99.999% chance that patch02 will contain differences from the public beta - hopefully good differences! [:)]

SqzMyLemon -> RE: How to find Java version? (11/17/2009 8:53:55 PM)

Another basic and probably dumb question. I've just installed WitPStaff version 1.6. When saving files to be used by the tracker, I'm playing as Japan, do I use my save file for my turn, or save the game after the Allied turn into the WitPTracker AE folder? Or if I choose the option to have WitPTracker get the file directly from the save folder, is it ok to overwrite the game in the same slot as before? What I'm trying to say is, if I save the game in slot 16 after running the Allied turn, will WitPTracker be ok with this file being overwritten with the new file after each turn? And is it ok to rename the file to anything I want to name it?

Thanks!

Well, firstly this is the WitpStaff thread NOT AE ... I'd look at using the hotkey for the hexes or go to the preferences while in a game and set it manually

I did read the first post, but I'm still afraid I missed something stupid, so sorry in advance :(

I bought the game last week and updated it with Patch 1 first, then the Patch 2 beta from November 25.
I did not download or instal the Hotfix for WiptStaff.
I did download and run the C++ redistrutable package linked in the first post for my processor type (X86 for a 32-bit Vista; I am just getting a "gathering information" then the program closes with no messages once that part is done, so this might be where the problem is... I have no idea if it closing after the gathering data part means it having worked, or if it silently crashes and is thus the reason WiptStaff doesn't work.)
I have my Java updated to the latest version (6.17 currently).

The Load Database part executes correctly, using Scenario 1 as Japan. I did delete the database folder to retry again.
I am using a new game created from Scenario 1 as Japan. I have tried "playing" one turn, saving again and retrying the WiptStaff, but I get the same problem.

wiptStaff closes without giving any error message, but if ran from the Batch file, I get:
"Got an Exception java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2079"

Here's the log in case it would help any:

I haven't seen Woo's (Marcus) online for a while, I think he was working on an enhancement at one stage... maybe he is waiting for Patch 2, before updating. I get the same errors as you, with the new Beta - so I doubt you are doing anything wrong. Although I'd expect to see more users having problems[&:] Maybe they have the first turn read before the Beta and subsequent turns loaded under the Beta (I haven't tested this) or you can always use Tracker and come back to Staff, when its updated or maybe Patch 2 released,to see whether this will fix the problem (as I can't see the code base, I can't tell what the Out of Bounds Exception is. [;)]

Good Luck.

For some reason, this program does not like new save games started with patch02's scenario files.

It doesn't however seem to affect games in play, only newly started ones from what I have tried.

Have installed new full patch and likewise getting the 2079 error. I am assuming our hard working creator will be using a lot of coffee to come up with a patch for this. Just like to say thank you in advance.
