LoBaron: Thanx. We are grinding on towards the end date.

Well.. lets just say that if the submarine losses would be any higher Allied player doesn't need to worry about them since they are all sunk.

Pacific (September 10th 1945)

Japan

We are continuing the to hit Japanese industry (manpower) with allied and russian bombers.

Dave launched some airstrikes againts our airfields at Philippines so that did ease the pressure a bit. Temporarily though.

Next turn there will 2nd A-bomb dropped at Osaka/Kyoto. It is the biggest Japanese industrial city in range at the moment. Nagasaki and Hiroshima are pretty mauled already.

Philippines

Japanese bombers have hit Tacloban and Guluian in Leyte area. Allthough he managed to torch some B29's and other bombers the losses were high for him. Few hundred fighters and bombers were shot down by allied aircraft.

I'am conducting some troop movements here along cleaning up the flanks and rear areas. Everything is ongoing according to the plans.

China

Nothing major to report. I think he is moving troops towards Manchuko where the big battles are raging.

Burma

Some allied troops are advancing further into Malaya peninsula. Japanese also have tried some bomber attacks with heavy losses.

BB Fuso and some cruisers bombarded Bangkok couple of days ago so he has some naval assets still in that area.

Russia

There has been major ground battle raging at Mutankiang and slowly but surely we are gaining upper hand. This is the last turns result...

The city should not hold on for much longer and don't even mind him sending reinforcements there.

We are also pushing out those road block units east of Mutankiang so the road should be open soon enough for those Russian units as well.

Linshi is also under heavy assault... and really love to see few of his divisions routed here...

aztez -> RE: September 1945 (9/4/2012 6:09:16 PM)

I hear from Dave that we seem to have run out of pilot slots. Oh well.. we will work it through and I suppose the game is not designed to go this far! [:D]

..on a not so good news! My Acer Aspire laptop seems do retired. No picture either to the LCD screen.. external monitor or anything. Thus either the damn motherboard, ATI graphics "card" or processor has had enough. At least the harddrive seems to be working... 1000 x [:@][:@]!

Need to sort this through before we continue the game. Damn it..

JocMeister -> RE: September 1945 (9/4/2012 7:11:52 PM)

I think there is a "special" .exe file that allows for more pilots slots! Will see if I can find it somewhere.

Sorry to hear you laptop died. [:(]

EDIT:

Here you go! [:)]

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2859420

aztez -> RE: September 1945 (9/11/2012 4:48:55 PM)

Thanx JocMeister. I did read about that special .exe file so we will check it out if needed.

Yeah, it is officially dead! RIP that Acer crap! [:@][:D]

At the moment still out of the laptop but got the 3rd party diagnose that the Acer is not worth repairing. Thus need to sort things out with the insurance company.

The good news is that I just ordered Asus N76 17" model laptop which should be top quality. It might take a week to arrive... and than I need to install the game and setup the damn thing.

That obviously will mean that PBEM games are on hold 100% sure until next week.

Also must say that I hate this old desktop machine and the mobile broadband stick that enables the Internet use. It is driving me nuts! [:D][:-]

JocMeister -> RE: September 1945 (9/11/2012 7:51:09 PM)

Haha,

Iīm always using my desktop. Got to love all the bang you get for the buck when not buying a laptop! [:D]

Good to hear the game will resume shortly! Good luck!

Sardaukar -> RE: September 1945 (9/12/2012 12:01:46 PM)

*redundant post* [8D]

aztez -> RE: September 1945 (9/19/2012 5:03:18 PM)

Small update. I did just pick up my ASUS G75V laptop. This seems like an beast to say at least.

Thus meaning that the PBEM games will continue shortly once I get this sorted out and everything installed.

CaptBeefheart -> RE: September 1945 (9/20/2012 9:39:30 AM)

Aztez: Thanks for sticking this out and reporting back to the community all this late game stuff. Yeoman service, my friend.

Nuke 'em till they glow!

Cheers,
CC

aztez -> RE: September 1945 (9/21/2012 5:05:28 AM)

Commander Cody: Appreciated! Yeah.. we still have about 1 year to go in this PBEM so plenty of action left.

I will definately increase the campaign againts Home Islands in forthcoming months since actually received bunch of new shiny B29's turn or two ago.

The game will resume in the weekend. Finally got the new ASUS laptop tweaked last night.

The bad thing about these "stops" is that you really don't remember 1/2 what you were doing! [:D]

JocMeister -> RE: September 1945 (9/21/2012 5:58:55 AM)

Canīt wait! [:)]

aztez -> RE: September 1945 (9/23/2012 6:48:44 AM)

We are back in action. To be honest the whole setup was dazzling.. and most likely forgot a lot of things that I were doing.

Anyway, pretty quiet turn in all... but the main thing is that the game is moving forward.

Pacific (September 19th 1945)

Japan

I have rested quite a few bomber squadrons thus not many hits on Japanese manpower...

The A-bomb damage at Tokyo must have been pretty big as you can see from the intel screen pic. That was worth +10 000 points.

Also recon indicate that we have severely damaged cities at Osaka and Kobe. A lot of damaged HI etc...

Philippines

Allied troops wipe out defenders at Sangihe. The ground assault at Talaud Island however failed...

Heavy bombers have been busy bombing Cebu, Legaspi, Puerto Princess, Cagayan, Taytay and Jolo.

China

I'am still organizing and waiting the supply levels to rise.

There are still some small units blocking the supply routes from Burma.

Burma / Thailand

Pretty much the same. Organizing and getting ready to push forward.

I will unleash heavy aircampaign in this region once everything is setup.

In the meantime we are moving slowly forward and keep bombing his main stacks / airfields.

Russia

Japanese forces wipe out an tank unit near Kweisu. Those poor souls became isolated and paid the price.

No major ground battles to report from previous turn but our troops will continue to push forward. Last turn we knocked few static defenses (which are quite stubborn).

That means the roads are open for supplies and reinforcements.

The intel amount is solid and he will have hard times ahead in this theatre....

...well that is decent enough. The amount of bombing runs will rise once we are ready.

Philippines

The allied reinforcements arrived at Leyte Gulf. We will begin constructing the bases at Baybay and Catbalogan.

These bases will give two additional level airfields in the region which to support and conduct operations.

It is pretty safe to say that Leyte Gulf area is important to defend when playing as japan!

Otherwise it will have severe concequences as you will see soon enough.

The recon flights indicate also large number of fighters (+300) and bombers (+150) based at Takao. Heavy volume shipping is also reported.

China

Nothing noteworthy to report...

Russia

The russian troops continue to open roads on their way towards inner Manchuko.

Japanese forces that were routed at Mutankiang are now at Yenki. That totals 68 enemy present in that base.

Near Tungho japanese troops move out in offensive. I don't know what he has here but if he moves out those troops will be circled soon.

Thus not objecting him moving his troops out at all.

In other areas the troops continue to move forward and we can expect large ground combats in forthcoming weeks...

I'am resting bulk of my bombers at the moment. The offensive againts the japanese economy will intensify once I have few more airfields ready.

Once that is done we start flying bombers in numbers... but happy to grind on at the moment.

Philippines

The first aviation support units and engineers arrive at Baybay. Another bunch are still enroute towards Catbalogan.

There are still nearly 400 enemy fighters stationed at Takao along with 100 bombers. I'am expecting these to be deployed into frontlines soon by Dave.

We also secured Vanimo in northern New Guinea. That was the last base he could have used for his recon aircraft.

Few more bases to clear out still but this needs to be done now before we launch any major offensives.

China

Nothing to report.

Burma

The stalemate continues. Now the objective is to get few bases secured in northern Malaya peninsula.

Allied HQ is still undecieded where the major push will ordered. Basically two choices either towards Singapore or Saigon.

Russia

Some good and some bad news. Overall though the offensive continues.

Dave is using small parachute unit fragments to hinder my supply lines. Well.. not liking that one but at the moment I will let it be.

The good news is that we stopped the enemy offensive near Kiamuze... that was made as expected.

No major ground battles has taken place.

The japanese forces do continue their way up north and I have taken measures to push them back.

Meanwhile the russian troops continue their advance and we should very soon see major ground battles raging.

The russian airforce is not fairing that well againts the japanese. A bit odd but not unexpected. Also noticing some quite high fatigue levels on the pilots.

Oh well the show continues and have bigger things to worry about...

...and it will be tough nut to crack. That is pretty obvious!

Russian troops have now also secured Taonan near central Manchuko. Nice to base to have definately.

Philippines / CenPac / Southern Pacific

We are still fighting around southern Philippines. Need to secure few bases and bring in more supplies here.

Japanese have launched few sizeable kamikaze strikes againts our shipping in the region. The damage has been moderate.

All that sounds simple but sometimes simple is easier said than done.

However we are making small progress here.

There are still no sign of KB.. nor with the recon flights or allied signit reports. It seems those ships are in "stealth" mode and our radio operators listen music instead radio traffic.

Japan

We have kept bombing the islands by night. That is the safest way to do it at the moment.

Allied 5th A-bomb will be dropped into Tokyo next turn unless weather prevents that mission.

Five atom bombs. Ouch!!!

(I finally got AE & wanted to quick say "Hi!" [:)])

JocMeister -> RE: October 1945 (11/18/2012 8:21:33 AM)

What does your aircraft pools look like?

aztez -> RE: October 1945 (11/18/2012 7:36:58 PM)

ctangus: Good to see you back on the forums! AE is diffrent than the classic we clashed but no doubt you will be succesfull in this release also.

I do hope everything is ok! Pretty much the same old here.. waiting for the summer already and the winter has not even begun yet! [:D]

JocMeister:
Good question. Here is the lists.

The fighter part is more than ok and really have a lot of assets that I'am unable to put forward due to my poor choices and bad planning. Lets just say that you really should pay more attention to this area of the game.. than again I want to finish this in my lifetime so it got a bit overlooked somewhere down the road.

The normal bomber pools are not as stacked. This is a bit misleading though since have a lot of squadrons full and these don't show up the in the pools. The same old can be said here too. Have a lot assets but the problem remains the same as with fighters. Working on that issue but it is always more complicated than it sounds.

Torpedo/Divebombers.. have a lot of them. More than enough only thing that these planes need targets! [:D] ...and have pretty no clue where the juicy ones are hiding. Thus if some of the japanese fanboys say that allied intel is overpowered... well trust me these intelligence officers are not worth more than headless chickens.

Overall the airwar has been quite bloody.. and as you guys know we are out of pilots mostly. Not an big issue at least not yet since the squadrons are full mostly.

The screens you asked are below...

Wow! Looks like you are in really good shape! [:)] When you say bad planning on the fighter side what do you mean? Lack of trained fighter pilots?

Out of curiosity. Have you ever after say, past 43 felt you suffered from any kind of shortage in terms of aircraft? And have you noticed any hint that your opponent are suffering from any kind of shortage?

EDIT:
Oh and thank you for putting up the screens! Really interesting to see! [:)]

ctangus: Good to see you back on the forums! AE is diffrent than the classic we clashed but no doubt you will be succesfull in this release also.

I do hope everything is ok! Pretty much the same old here.. waiting for the summer already and the winter has not even begun yet! [:D]

I'm well, thanks for asking!

I'll be following this AAR whether I chime in a lot or not. I'm trying to catch up on it too, but 65 pages! I've made it through page 1 & 2 so far. [:D]

JocMeister: No problems at all. It is always hard to know what stuff people want to see from the game.

I meant that "bad planning" was that I haven't seized enough bases with large airfield potential to this date so I could utilize the firepower.

Also "bad planning" being that many of the supporting units are not where I want them to be at this point of time. Thus lacking the airfields plus support.

There are no fast fixes to those issues. I would highly recommend that you make this one of your top priorities once you start enter later times.

I'am in good shape and this airwar has been much more bloody than the one I have ongoing vs katsuragi. I think the losses are -50% in that one.. and actually have lost about 20k aircraft in that one and he has around 18k.

As for shortages. There were few times when the pools were a bit "dry".. nothing major though since eventhough losses I have taken.. well I have inflicted more than equal in this one.

The training part has not been an problem for me. I have more than enough high skilled pilots in the fronts are many just sitting behind the lines drinking and enjoying the sunny side of the pacific. Thus training I have done good in this one from day 1.

I think the worst part for any allied player is 1942 and it becomes better. I would not even advice holding back than either since every plane you shoot down is one less you have to worry about later on.

As for Dave's pools and pilots. To be honest I think he is doing ok. He has launched few very large scale strikes near Philippines lately and it seems he has plenty left in the home islands as well.

I haven't taken his oil though, not cut DEI nor heavily bombed his stacks on the home islands. After the very bloody skies at Burma haven't spotted much flying there from Japanese side so that would make me think that in the end it became too costly for him to get involved longrun.

That is good to hear! I was wondering that once went AWOL for some months.

Oh.. don't ask what I did one those pages!!! To be honest I have no clues at all but I can guarantee that you will learn few mistakes I made and maybe some good thing I did.

I will read this thing from the beginning once we are actually at the "The end" date. That will take few months to achieve though.

Lately been a bit busy RL but trying to keep this updated to the bitter end.

Actually pretty intrested what Dave has to say to all of this once he will read this through!

Again cannot say enough good things about him since most likely this would have been down into toilet with many other opponents. Whether we actually start 3rd match up.. well who knows and too early to say.

Just got caught up. Did not realize that you were still posting. It must be fun to run amok with the Soviets. I can wait for mine to get release. Viberpol and I are just about to enter 1945. I am doing well but he is a tough opponent. I "have" cut off his DEI oil but am having a hard time getting in range of the homeland with my bombers. Biggest success has been in CBI where I hold Bangkok and am trying to cut the SE Asia landmass in half.

In the PI I am just starting to take some based to build up my air power for the attack. He still have a very strong air force and navy but I am hoping that his lack of oil will soon be felt.
