Hi Marc,

Incredibly useful stuff!
I like the data that are currently displayed, but since you asked...
Would it be possible to add Japanese/Allied VPs as well as Resources?

My preferred layout would be (clockwise):

current port size/potential port size
current airfield size/potential airfield size
oil/resources
Japanese VPs/Allied VPs

Like you said earlier, displaying all the economy values would probably take too much space. (However, I feel that victory-wise, oil/resources are the most important ones).

If you manage to get that info on your map, I will very likely order a large laminated printout.

Thanks very much,

Moss

I put in the VP in an alternative version left and right from the base icons.
Please mind that these are the base values (see page 264 in the manual).
See first post for download links.

Another version could be with stacking limits or garrison requirements.

Please accept my humblest thanks as well.   Kudos to you.

Stacking limits/garrison reqts would be sweet

Another thought might be repairyards and industry type stuff (refinery, light industry, etc ....)

Very nice work ..... [;)]

Thank you.
If you would tell me the layout you have in mind I could give it a try.

Well, since you asked ....... [;)]

I believe these would actually be better split into two separate maps.
One that contains
Heavy Industry
Light Industry
Refinery
(Frankly, if got oil and resources (which you alrady have in another version) into this one as well, it would cover the
basic needs for resounrce distribution/stealing planning as it would cover where are the basic resources (oil
and resource) and where do they need to go .......

The second would be naval specific and could include
Merchant Shipyards
Naval Shipyards
Repair Shipyards
(the alternative might be port size and Repair Shipyards as these will be the pertinent IMHO aspects)

Could your map creation be executed as a stand alone tool later on to capture changes in values ? IE, run it once every per year of game time ........ Just a thought since I'm on a roll.

Just some thoughts given your very fine work as sparked some ideas .....

Marc -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map with base icons (8/5/2009 1:30:49 AM)

You need PhotoShop for the map creation to work.

At the moment I takes about 40 minutes for every new value to import. Add to that another 20 minutes for the inital layout.
The data is then stored in several layers that I can show or hide.

Since it takes some time the industry and shipyard maps won't be ready in the nearest future.

Feel free to make additional proposals for map layouts.

By the way would it be no problem to alter the in-game map in the same way. I would just need a tool that can paste together the 42 bmp files into one file and after the enhancement divide it in the same way. I really don't want to do that manually.
But since there are already LCU and other icons on the map I'm not sure it would be of great help.
What do you think?

I have a tool that can divide maps. If you get one to me I can divide it up.

Andrew

The new map is absolutely fantastic! A great planning aid for my upcoming campaigns...

Thanks a lot,

I just added an industry related map.
See first post for more details.

As always comments are welcome.

henri51 -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map with base icons (8/9/2009 9:25:30 PM)

Great maps!

It should be an option in the game to turn these values on... (wish, wish...)

Henri

Marc -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map with base icons (8/11/2009 12:27:41 AM)

I just added a map for use in the game with the following values:
Max Port
Max AF
Oil
Ressources
LCU stacking limit

See first post for more details and link.

Zaap -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map with base icons (8/11/2009 4:40:04 AM)

Very impressive and useful work. Many thanks!

scout1 -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map and Game Map (8/18/2009 2:11:10 AM)

I'm wondering how I can get this printed out on a "J" size drawing format (black and white unfortunately) and still retain the clarity. I can see a weekend run back into work is in order to experiments .....

Very nice indeed ..... [:)]

I did some quick calculations on Sunday. In order to be able to read this map as if it was on your screen (1024x768) It would have to be 13x10FEET.[8|]

EasilyConfused -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map and Game Map (8/24/2009 1:27:59 PM)

What I'd really love would be a map with all the locations labeled, but I'm not sure it's possible to fit the names in.

Technically no problem, but the names definitely won't fit.
Possible would be something like the first three or four letters of the basename.

Marc -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map and Game Map (8/24/2009 10:35:18 PM)

This is possible.
Are you intereasted in this map?
Planning map or in-game map?

Note: Not all bases have names in this preview because I stopped the script before it was finished.

That'd still be great. I made a spreadsheet with the values of important bases, but it's very difficult keeping track of which of the scattered South Pacific islands is which.

I'd like this as a planning map. I actually would prefer only the base names if possible, just so it is less cluttered.
Thanks so much!

Hello Marc,

I would love to get a Planning map with base names [&o]

Regards

Gilbert

Marc -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map and Game Map (8/26/2009 2:30:54 AM)

The planning map with basenames only is up.
See first post for download links and a preview.
