Hope you're going to do the Skypirate as well :) ! Would it be possible to have a planetop and planetop alpha bmp with all o your ac done so far for those of us with less skill in editing that....

Hopefully, the community can get together and agree on a unified art mod; so that we don't have to juggle multiple ones.

Well, i did a quick count and:

100~ Open Allied Slots for Aircraft Artwork
330~ Open Axis Slots for Aircraft Artwork

(rounded off everything to even zeroes)

And quite a lot of the Allied side has had their really obscure stuff officially included -- like Chinese B-24s! My god, chinese B-24s!

I remember finding in the US National Archives a brief paper referencing another paper about the training of Chinese B-24 Groups!

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/7/2009 12:55:34 AM)

Because so many people wanted it; He-100D in Japanese Colors.[:D]

NormS3 -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/8/2009 11:36:45 PM)

Any chance for Blackburn Skua and Roc. Was thinking of adding a small aussie naval airforce and giving them a CVE later on.

Funny, that's essentially what AE is...if you think about it...[;)][:D]

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/12/2009 8:36:30 AM)

Curtiss XP-40Q Warhawk. The only P-40 to go above 400 MPH...

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/12/2009 6:40:09 PM)

Curtiss XP-40Q in Nationalist China Colors. I realized today, that the USAAF would NEVER want the P-40Q; since while it is faster than the older warhawks; it's not substantiatively better than a P-47 or P-51. However, you could convert the old Curtiss lines to produce it in limited quantities for Lend Lease for nations like China

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/12/2009 11:33:55 PM)

XC-99 Transport, in Stateside ATC colors. It doesn't get OD because....it doesn't go near combat theaters; I mean, it's huge, and easy to shoot down.

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 12:04:13 AM)

C-74 Globemaster I

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 12:04:32 AM)

F5U Flapjack, or Pancake. Whichever you prefer [:D]

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 6:12:23 AM)

AD Skyraider (or XBTD2 Dauntless II)

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 6:12:54 AM)

AM Mauler. Because three torpedoes is so awesome.

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 6:13:14 AM)

FH-1 Phantom

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 6:13:28 AM)

XP-81

TR Shrum -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/13/2009 3:10:40 PM)

Ryan,

Any chance of you doing a B-35 and B-36?  Thanks.

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/14/2009 3:54:02 AM)

Here is the B-35, mein herr.

Be warned though I don't think I can think up a logical reason for this, because the reason it was abandoned was because of severe vibration, which made holding a steady course (crucial for bombing runs) very hard. Ironically, the B-35 was easier to fly than the YB-49, which was the same plane, but with jet engines; because the propellors acted as "air fences", aka, virtual rudders. The YB-49 didn't have those, and thus was even more devilishly difficult to fly.

TR Shrum -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/14/2009 5:13:29 AM)

Ryan,

Thank you.  I've drawn several aircraft using Illustrator, but mine look too "technical".  You and others do a much better "artistic" rendering.

I do agree about the B-35 from a "real world" standpoint.  But it is a game and I can "make it work" in my world.

Thanks again.

Well, to be truthfully honest, I don't draw these; I find clear enough side and top views -- in a lot of cases, for very obscure aircraft like the TB2D, that involves using US Government drawings from the SACs/ACPs, clean them up and then start working with color, and shading.

By the way, what aircraft have you drawn in illustrator?

RyanCrierie -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/14/2009 6:59:58 AM)

B-36D (I know I know, jet version. Just close your eyes and imagine the US hanging a different type of jet from the pods)

TR Shrum -> RE: Shep's Graphical Artwork (Planes, Ships, etc) (8/14/2009 3:03:11 PM)

This is just a partial list of AC drawn in Illustrator and includes mostly "tops". I'm an architect by trade so doing things in "plan" view is what I do most. I have tried some "sides" (F5U), but was waiting for AE to come out and see what folks were going to do.

The partital list:

P-52
P-54
P-55
P-59
P-67
P-71
P-84
FH-2
F9F
B-36
B-35
Sea Fury
Sea Hornet
Sea Vampire
Meteor

That's in addition to all of the "standard" types already provided in AE.
