ETF -> Kharkov (7/15/2011 3:24:57 PM)

Is this bug been fixed as of yet or is it a WAD?

"Do not give armies to Kharkov MD hq. For some reason, it will be disbanded and its armies will be switched to South-Ural Front that is an Eastern map border static hq and you will lose the benefits of an in-range front HQ."

catski -> RE: War in the East Q&A (7/18/2011 11:10:53 AM)

in that case then, how many divisons or brigades will army be able to handle?

cheers

Curious what are all the airbases do? I have read the Wiki on it but not all the airbases are not listed. Does it matter what planes u put in each airbase. Do they act historically with their own mission sets based on the airbase you place planes in?
IS there a listing somewhere with what EXACTLY goes into which airbases. ie. IAD only for fighter defensive cover?

The only difference is for VVS and DBAD/AD DD airbases which are used to supply partisans. Otherwise there is no limitations based on the air base name.

Thank You sir.....

What minimum experience should the Soviets pilots have before facing the 41 Germans assuming they are flying modern fighters only?

You can face them with whatever experience. It all depends what kind of losses you can afford. Usually quantity can beat quality in long run.

randallw -> RE: War in the East Q&A (7/20/2011 12:11:03 AM)

The Luftwaffe units are in the 70+ experience level, so you don't want to be throwing brand new air units ( with their 33 experience ) at them.

Zharradan -> RE: War in the East Q&A (7/24/2011 1:26:50 PM)

I am new to the game, learning by doing so to speak. Have one question.
Even though the russians don't make any attacks, it seems I am loosing a lot of men anyhow. It says "current turn" and shows between 10k-15k men lost? It waries from scenarion to scenario, but why am I loosing so many men?, any how do I reduce the numbers?

pompack -> RE: War in the East Q&A (7/24/2011 2:00:35 PM)

Units in contact with enemy units lose people to attrition, as does the enemy.

Patoooo -> Question from noob... (8/8/2011 6:15:00 AM)

1st GC as German... and I'm not getting the unit info when I move the cursor over a hex?  Neither mine nor the Russian info shows up?
I thought in previous runthroughs that this happened... am I losing my mind?
Over my men it gives the box at the bottom, but not the supply info... over the Ruskies it just gives the hex info...
What silly thing have I done??

Thanks...

Probably have one of the map information tabs clicked, like factory information, or something like that. Select only forts and ownership, and you should see the unit info for your mouseover.

Patoooo -> RE: Question from noob... (8/8/2011 6:42:02 AM)

Bingo... that was easy... Thanks!!

Is there a limit on tabs selected?

Not precisely, but certain tabs interfere with the smooth operation of others.

Patoooo -> RE: Question from noob... (8/8/2011 7:14:23 AM)

Ok, so it wasn't something I missed in documentation... (could still be).
Looked it up... I had Factory info on... and that one has a different rollover function.

Live and learn...

Thanks again.

rolypoly -> RE: Question from noob... (8/12/2011 10:13:27 PM)

how much (approximately) it affects enemy MP:s and CV when u cut a large portion of troops from any nearest city or rail head, so that only route of supplies to them are via "normal" territory such as woods, clear, swamp or heavy woods?

cheers

Patoooo -> Air units question... (8/12/2011 11:18:56 PM)

What is the secret to moving the ground elements of air units closer to the front?
How close should they be?
How does moving affect them?
Was there a thread somewhere I missed on this?

Thanks!

cherryfunk -> RE: Air units question... (8/25/2011 1:23:55 AM)

How do you get Ports to appear on the map?  I've tried every map mode but can't get the icons on the map, I'm clearly missing something...

--> Answering my own question: it seems the port icons are only available on Redmarkus's Place Names map mod, which is a shame, you'd think the devs would include this feature as knowing where ports are can be quite useful.

Baloun -> RE: War in the East Q&A (8/30/2011 4:32:10 PM)

Hello there,
I have a newbie-question. I read the manual carefully and I guess I quite understand the basic game-principles. But... There is one big question I have - how to relocate sovier factories? I read everything in the manual. But when I put on the rail mode and click on the city... There is no sliders related to moving the factories? How is that?

I know it is stupid questions... But where else should I turn?

Thanks for your answer :)

cpt flam -> RE: War in the East Q&A (8/30/2011 5:40:27 PM)

being in rail mode
you click on the city and then on the name of the city
uper part of the square
hope it will help you

Baloun -> RE: War in the East Q&A (8/30/2011 7:21:58 PM)

Thank you for quick answer. Homewer it is exactly what is in the manual... And I tryied that many times and in many forms - but still I cant seem to acces it. I even checked if the city is really mine, I tryied to move units out... I tried (i guess) everything but I still dont see the menu with moving factories.

Now dont get me wrong - I have my experience with user-enemy interface (I like wargames, and it is standard :) ), but I really cant get how to do this...

Seminole -> RE: War in the East Q&A (8/30/2011 8:57:07 PM)

Click on the city hex, then click on the city name in the upper right hand corner.  When you're in rail mode that text name should be a link to open the factory screen so you can move them.

Baloun -> RE: Kharkov (8/31/2011 8:15:19 AM)

So I tried it again in 1944 scenario - and it worked. But when I am trying this in 1941 - it just dont work (I was doing it right evidently, since it is working in 44), so isnt it some blocking? Like you cant move your industry until some time? I have not read in manual about this...

randallw -> RE: Kharkov (8/31/2011 8:43:03 AM)

You cannot move a factory on the first turn.

Baloun -> RE: Kharkov (8/31/2011 11:18:39 AM)

Great! Thats the problem then... It is actually good idea from designers... Ok - thank you for help :)

zanekin -> RE: Kharkov (8/31/2011 11:49:04 AM)

I know that this question has been already asked here and there but no complete answer has been found.

So.

Except by tracking every turn the factory display, how do you know (as axis player) that a factory has been evacuated before you captured it AND more important, can you track the number of factories that you've destroyed ?

rchora -> RE: Kharkov (9/4/2011 9:54:05 PM)

I haven't been able to play WitE in the last 6 month or so. Several game game updates have been released and now I have started playing in 1.04.39 version.

I tried to check all the changes I could before posting, however one new feature I couldn't find.

I mean I saw that in some battles a percentage appears next to a Corps or Army name in the combat screen. I believe its always a penalty, I saw a minus sign next to it. I have highlighted it in red.

Can someone please help me and tell me what these percentages mean. Thank you.

Mike13z50 -> RE: Kharkov (10/4/2011 10:50:27 PM)

It is caused by combat involving more than one formation. In your case you have elements of XXXXI Pnz Corp and L Corps. The defender has 10 Corps and NW Front units stacked.

To avoid penalty don't stack units from different HQ.

Balou -> RE: Kharkov (10/17/2011 3:34:51 PM)

What's this ?
A series of dark brown hexes, looks like a path. Saw it a couple of times during the Sov turn (as Axis against the AI). Please enlighten me.
