I'm getting pinged by auto-update to allow it to install Java 7 and uninstall Java 6.

Java 7 and 64-bit are still no-go for Tracker, right?

Roger - Java 7 doesn't work

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/13/2012 1:06:06 AM)

Great I just installed Java 7 update 5 for the 64 bit.

How does one go about rolling it back?

Thx

Uninstall and then install the correct version.

Sorry, We'll update Tracker sometime in the future.

np man thanks for all you have done!!!

ok When I head to the site it says I am using a 32 bit browser. I have a 64 bit Win 7 machine does it matter than should I just use the 32 bit Java?

Tracker works with 32 bit. You can install both, but then have to configure Tracker to point to the 32 bit Java.exe (Ver 6)

CaptDave -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/13/2012 9:09:06 PM)

FWIW, I just (finally, after months of nagging) installed Java 7 on my Win 7 64-bit machine. The default installation path was different from Java 6, and I already had the path hard-coded in my Tracker shortcut, so no problems (at least with Tracker; can't quite say the same for a handful of unrelated web sites, though!). The thing is, as Damian says, to be sure you point to the right Java in your Tracker startup.

FeurerKrieg -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/13/2012 9:15:19 PM)

I'm sure I'm not the only person to think of this, but for those that haven't -

Regarding the fact that you can only get so many turns (100ish) into Tracker before you need to clear the DB and start over: I keep a second tracker folder going where I only load the 1st and 15th of each month. That way I can still maintain my war-long trends and charts - which are helpful for things like resource management and writing AARs - and then I use my daily tracker for all the daily decisions. It doesn't take much work to do, just an extra tracker turn read once every 15 turns.

Just thought I'd toss that out there in case it helps anyone.

You can install both 64 and 32 bit java6, but to run Tracker you need the 32 bit... The instructions are on the Tracker web page or a video I made ...

The C++ distro - has to be the 32 bit one.

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/22/2012 12:13:18 PM)

Hey Mate -
vcredist_x86.exe 2.6 MB Download

It is probably installed already, but install this and then do a manual Windows update.

Cheers

ok I thought it would look like this ĄSet up the witptracker.properties properties file.

Thx!

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/22/2012 11:52:20 PM)

ok moving along.....I have a 64 bit issue. Just checking with the support page. Did I copy to the bat file wrong?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9e7dww7hp6i4xqa/LEnQJJjZF1

Solution 4. Change your witptracker.bat file to point to the 32 bit Java executable (you need the quotes because of the space) - this varies on different machines so you'll need to check the path:

64bitOS users

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"

pause

Yes - but why are you running the batch file from inside the c:\windows\system32 folder ? It should be run from the Tracker folder...

The batch file in the tracker foler just points to Java.exe and then executes the witptracker.jar file in that same folder...

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/23/2012 2:29:46 PM)

Oooops I guess I right clicked on the bat file to run as an admin. ok ran it as I think I was suppose to. Made it to the main screen. I have just started a turn 5 game.......working on the Dec 7th turn as the Japanese.

Does it look ok from this point. Obviously I need to go through the other steps to learn the program. Hoping the setup is at least done :)

Thanks Damian for holding my hand thought the process........not the greatest with PC's lol

ps Damian the video you linked was really good. I though was wondering is there a link for it in you tube or what not. I really would like to pause it as I work along with the video and I can't seem to pasue it. Is there something I can do on my end?

Thanks sir!

Ok so I am the Japanese player saving my turns to slot 5. The Allied player to 10. I have used tracker for the Dec 7th turn no problem. Now it is searching for the turn in slot 5 or should it be 10 my incoming turn from my allied player? I watch the combat results and then save to slot 5 and work on my turn. Can't see to pull up either turn. I went with the turn 5 slot for my default settings. Should I change it to 10?

Thanks

PizzaMan -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/28/2012 3:18:51 AM)

Is there an Excel version of the tracker?

No - but you can export all the data to csv format, which can be opened in xls.

What process do you use to load the new turn ? I'd recommend multi-turn.

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/29/2012 3:57:15 AM)

I tried both.............my turns are saved in 5 and the Allied turns are in slot 10.

My Properties look like this

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[1]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[0]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[123]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae005.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[2]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[wpae005]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

Did I somehow screw up the properties?

Okay - looks like that is fine. I know you've watched the video - so I'm wondering when you tried the multi-read did you go the correct directory and check the All.pws box ?
Otherwise are you sure that it is a new turn ? Different date ?

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/29/2012 12:37:25 PM)

I think I did all that. Did notice I didn't click the ALL.pws box once. Made sure still no Joy.

HI,

This may be a bit too obvious an oversight... but just in case... here goes...

The Password token is currently set to '[123]' according to your text which is what is defined in the default installation.

Is this the same value that you used when saving your turn file? If not, edit the config file and set it to the same value.

I understand WipPTracker will silently ignore incorrect passwords supplied when parsing a file.

ETF -> RE: WitPTracker AE Release 1.9.2 Available! (7/29/2012 10:11:41 PM)

Yes Damian the save folder goes back to WITPAE and the game slots listed.

However when I go to load multiturn I click ALL.pws and then highlight my "save directory shortcut the "select directory" turns to a open option of which I click. Then I click on select directory and I get the busy window symbol....hmm nothing seems to happen. Should I leave it hanging for a period of time. I think I left it for about 1 minute last time?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9e7dww7hp6i4xqa/LEnQJJjZF1

I do notice though when looking at the save directory shortcut from WITPAE there is nothing showing within it in the tracker program. Of course outside the program the shortcut has all the saves. Drat!
