Time for all group planes to reach interception is 22 minutes then we start our air attacks and it was the time to really get upset about this piss poor design that was called "enhanced strike routines to create more realistic air attacks"... [8|] pff, what a fart... have ordered 150 fighters to sweep and as usual, the sweeps go in at squadron size while losng a fragment of three fighters each... also as usual, we then meet an enemy that has numerical superiority as radar again sends up everything that has not been damaged before... this design is just silly... you employ twice, three times, four times, five times or even more aircraft than the enemy but end up in a numerical disadvantage all the time because the design is bullocks... nothing more to say than this has nothing to do with realism, nothing... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Cam Ranh Bay , at 64,72 Weather in hex: Light rain Raid detected at 17 NM, estimated altitude 45,000 feet. S I L L Y by design... does it matter? no, of course not... why? because bombers alone perform better anyway than fighters would do... this is just crazy... go and play BoB bombing the Reich, then go back and try to design a working routine for WITP AE... as it is now, itīs nothing but a strange piece of crap... the more squadrons involved, the stranger it gets... what has been damaged by the cruisers during the night is now torched by the bombers... but the strike routine leaves me [sm=nono.gif] again... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Cam Ranh Bay , at 64,72 Weather in hex: Light rain Raid detected at 80 NM, estimated altitude 11,000 feet. [8|] itīs so ridicioulos and reading tips or guides how to improve this makes it even more ridicoulos when you find out this all helps nothing and is nothing but a fairytale that has been brought up to mask obvious flaws that have been there right from release and seem to never be even looked at... so besides escort and sweep missions failing completely again today, I should perhaps also mention that something like 50% of the fighters didnīt fly at all... I donīt even want to get started about this (no, forget morale, fat or anything else, it was just perfect)... this behaviour is well known already from WITP, obeying orders wasnīt common in WWII you know... unfortunately, with the new oh so great strike routines, this has now become an even bigger problem... but hey, realism pure... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Saigon at 60,71 Weather in hex: Heavy rain Raid spotted at 38 NM, estimated altitude 6,000 feet. Group patrol altitude is 6000 , scrambling fighters to 6000. Time for all group planes to reach interception is 21 minutes thatīs it then... ordering 250 advanced fighters to attack that would have outnumbered the enemy 3-4:1 ended up in being outnumbered by the enemy 3:1 because the strike routine decided this would be much more realistic... this meant our fighters have shot down a dozen enemies for the loss of nearly two dozen of our fighters that were better aircraft flown by 70 skilled pilots... mhm, alltogether this sounds like a highly reasonable and realistic result for the employed forces... now imagine the unrealistic cruiser bombardment wouldnīt have worked during the night... I go with what Iīve said lots of times earlier already, directly attacking a heavily capped target with radar is a nogo because with the borked strike routines you end up at a disadvantage again and again and again, no matter if you employ a three or four time bigger force that clearly also got the better aircraft... it makes me sad but at the same time Iīm just going to switch back to the old tactic of trying to draw out leaking Cap... and then Allied players wonder when they run out of advanced fighters after attacking heavily Capped targets... of course, using carrier based fighter squadrons on sweep works just perfect as they come in near perfectly "coordinated", for what reason ever... something you fail to manage if you order 2x25 fighters from a level 9 airfield... mhm, that surely wasnīt possible in real life... if you say that often enough, at some point you probably start to believe it yourselve...
