Yep. I think the lady who suggested that is going to demand 'favors' at the next office party.

Edit to add: Does she look like Helen Reddy?

Helen Reddy then or Helen Reddy now? Big Difference

Cap Mandrake -> RE: RIP??? (8/2/2014 10:28:44 PM)

Huzzah! Admiral Lord SPrior (shorn of rank and nobility) has been found in Tortuga. It seems they got so tired of the Jackspeak aboard Bellipotent they put him ashore.!

witpqs -> RE: RIP??? (8/2/2014 10:41:18 PM)

Oh, bully! And Tortuga has a telegraph link - double bully!

Cap Mandrake -> RE: RIP??? (8/3/2014 2:29:32 PM)

REPENT! THE END IS NIGH! Or, failing that, make sure you have diesel for the generator in the bunker.

Large drops of liquid water are falling from the sky,

Cap Mandrake -> RE: RIP??? (8/3/2014 2:40:31 PM)

Went to a wine tasting thingy with a gourmet food truck supplying the food. Guy had Lasagna Bolognese with pulled rib meat. DAYAM!

Chef was at least 350, which I see as a good thing as long as his belly does not stick out from under his shirt. The croutons in the yellowtail tuna dish were
"hand torn" [:)] This sounded impressive but they kinda tasted like regular croutons to me.

Wine was damn good too. The owner buys grapes from Santa Ynez and Paso Robles and some oak casks from France and then he makes wine in an industrial center...and it was damn good.

His wife was...ummm..very fit too.

Did you offer a free physical in exchange for more free tastes? .... of the wine and lasagne of course!

I'm sorry, BBfanboy-there's not enough wine and lasagna out there (regardless of the quality) that would entice me to doing a prostate exam on a 350+ man on an otherwise lovely evening out. To each their own, I guess.

I think he meant Wine Girl. [:)]

Even so, after you are married I don't think you are supposed to do that kind of thing. I think it's in the rule book somewhere.

You did agree on alternative "house rules" to supplement your rules apriori, no?

witpqs -> RE: RIP??? (8/4/2014 3:22:53 PM)

What - you read the manual?? [X(]

There's a manual?!? How come no-one told me this? Granted I'm coming up on 30 years this month, but there's a lot of wear and tear along the way that could have been avoided if only I knew the rules in advance.

The Good News: Yes - your spouse/significant other has rules she wants you to follow. [sm=00001746.gif]

The Bad News: The rules vary according to mood, time of month, whether you have accumulated enough political points, fog-of-relationship, etc. [sm=00000016.gif]

Kyushu: The escorts accompanying 22nd Marine run into WJD DD's. Somehow it is always the sheep that stumble into things at night. Nothing left but a few Sikh turbans flaoting about.

Tamanami: great name for a ship...

"Iridescent Waves". Whoa. Man. Cool. [&o][sm=Cool-049.gif][sm=00000924.gif]

Cap Mandrake -> Firestarter (8/6/2014 8:49:11 PM)

Watched a few minutes of an old movie called Firestarter with a young Drew Barrymore. Absolutely terrible movie but quite an interesting notion. She is a kid who is able to make people spontaneously combust with special teleconflagration powers.

Imagine you had that ability next time you get into a road rage incident. It would be glorious.

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Firestarter (8/6/2014 8:58:05 PM)

Speaking of "iridescent waves", here is what happened in Hokkaido.

Hokkaido: USS Indiana is headed back to Bihoro after refueling. She was to provide surface security over the landing ships.....but she slowed to look at the fluorescent wake at night and did not make the cover of the carriers...so..oh, wait, first the night battles at Bihoro....oh Hell...can't get my email to work. You'll just have to wait. [:'(]

Pretty sure that's one of the many movies made from a Steven King book.

Never promote/appoint an officer whose hobby is eco-tourism and whale watching to Captain of a vessel. [:-]

You don't think anyone reads this thread for an update on your war, do you?

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Firestarter (8/7/2014 3:00:26 AM)

I feel like a Joni Mitchell song...

"I was a free man in Paris and I'd go back there tomorrow
but for the work I've taken on stoking the star-maker machinery
behind the popular song"

One of my colleagues put me on two weekends in a row. Worked 16 or the last 17 days.

Chickenboy -> RE: Firestarter (8/7/2014 3:03:53 AM)

But the big bucks the ACA is shovelling into your pockets make it worthwhile?

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Firestarter (8/7/2014 3:36:55 AM)

We had a group-wide stand-down yesterday over provisions of the ACA. I was invited to speak to the billing department to light a fire under them.

I told them I was there to talk about a business opportunity...Amway.

I may have not been the most enthusiastic choice.
