Good thread.

BlitzimX -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (7/19/2013 3:47:25 PM)

I don't know if that's the good thread but I think it may be, i don't want to post a new subject for one question.

Can someone tell me which Scenario would be the best for a first MP game? I know that you have DaBigBabe and Reluctant Admiral, both improoving the base game and adding variations for the Japanese player. But what are the main differences? Are they okay for a first game or shall we stick with the basic scenarios from the Vanilla game?

Thanks!

Amoral -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (7/19/2013 4:53:35 PM)

For your very first game you might want to try a smaller scneario like Guadalcanal. The action will start happening sooner, and you'll get some mid game experience that will help you when you go back and try your first grand campaign.

BlitzimX -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (7/19/2013 6:09:23 PM)

I already practiced with the smaller scenarios :p That's why i ask for the Grand campaign

You might want to try DaBabesLite, which has data changes to make it more realistic, but doesn't add lots of extra (small) ships and specialist units.
It's also fully compatible vs. AI.

Chuske -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (4/21/2014 2:21:52 PM)

After 2 years doing other things I'm back and trying to relearn everything I've forgotten about WITP:AE, so hope to add to this thread as I get back up to speed.

You guys can help though by suggesting threads you think should be added to this. One thing I'd particularly like is to find any good advice for coping with China as seems very few threads I can find on this. There is some advice in various AAR's but general principles of how to fight in China would be a great help to a lot of players just starting out on their first grand campaign.

Numdydar -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (4/21/2014 3:05:22 PM)

And you left out the most important document of all from your list [:D] Once that is fixed then your list will be awesome [:)]

Welcome back. I like what you have provided to the WITPAE community. Very helpful thread.

Reformatted to make it an easier read

Chuske -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (7/11/2014 2:03:13 PM)

JFBs I could do with some good AAR recommendations that might be of use to beginner Japanese players

It depends which scenario and/or mod you play. For me its latest official patch, scen 1, historical start. For that (the cloest I could find) would be Mike Solli and Cribtops' AAR's. Currently reading both.

FirstPappy -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (2/2/2015 2:54:42 PM)

I started playing again and thought this thread deserved to be bumped up.

ReconTom -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (9/12/2015 1:59:47 PM)

Another dumb question. I downloaded a few of those short scenarios recommended for newbies. However, though I am used to using such new scenarios, and always unzipped them to the SCEN or Scenario folders of whatever games, the SCEN folder in the main Matrix folder looks different. There are no NAMES of scenarios as I am used.

Having had a devil of a time for a week getting WITPAE to display and play correctly I am loathe to download them into that folder, though I can't imagine where else they would go.

Just being cautious...thank you for this answer and all the other replies to my post.

Tom

oh p.s. I did NOT download any that said they contained SPECIAL GRAPHICS. Caution for the same reason above. I would like to play the game a little before risking more display problems. Thanks again.

Yaab -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (9/12/2015 2:24:12 PM)

There should be just scn***.cmt files. For example, scn001.cmt is the stock grand campaign scenario 1.

wegman58 -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (9/15/2015 1:52:38 PM)

Can we nominate something to get Stickied at the top? IF SO - making the request.

ReconTom -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (9/28/2015 1:23:51 AM)

How do you provide air cover for Troop ships?

From the squadron screen assign a % of the squadron to LRCAP (Long Range Combat Air Patrol), and the select the troop task force as a target for the squadron.

jamesjohns -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (10/3/2015 3:25:09 AM)

bump

Chuske -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (10/5/2015 11:30:03 PM)

Glad you guys still finding this useful. Due to lack of time I've never got further than late 1942 in AE despite several starts, maybe one day I'll get back into it but it takes so long to play a campaign in AE that becomes hard to master it if you have other hobbies and limited time. The fact this forum is still so busy is a testament to the great game this is and I hope this helps newbies or part time players get the most out of it.

Do give me a nudge if you have a newbie friendly thread to add, just post here or PM me or if a regular player wants to take over this thread let me know and you can copy the contents to a new thread.

Chuske -> RE: Useful Info for Beginners (10/25/2015 5:30:58 PM)
