ORIGINAL: jinchoung howdy, but someone recommended this series, especially since it's being developed by former table top guys so i figured i would indeed give ostfront a shake. sooooo.... when?!?! : ) As soon as we get the demos finished and all the scenarios and mods done. The testing is in it's final stage now. quote:
anyway, i've enjoyed combat mission (have all 3 of the 1x engine games) but i'm kinda hoping that PCO will be able to do something that CM kinda failed to do - provide scenarios that feel satisfying without having dozens of units. CM has small missions but they feel tiny and basically are reserved as infantry skirmishes and tutorials. Really? I have made a few CM scenarios that were small. Some of them were specifically designed for beginners tournaments but others are full fledged tournament quality. At least I think they are! [:D] Some of my smaller scenarios have been converted for PCO and may show up in the update. You just never know. I'm sure more of my better work will continue to be converted over as well as making new scenarios. I know that I've done HSG Dangerous Information which was a conversion of mine of an ASL scenario (The Puma Prowls) which is low density. I can't wait to try A Brief Visit To A Church as well.....we'll see. Those were my first CM scenarios so they may find their way into PC too. quote:
for me, this is the appeal of minis - the ability to have a manageable number of units so that i can form a coherent tactical picture and not having it devolve into just throwing handfuls of units at each other. The maps come in sizes as small as 500 meters per side. Also, I did an AAR for a company sized action. You might want to take a look at that and see how that went....not well for me. Those that have played my CM scenarios know that I like the smaller intense from start to finish battles. Normally, for me, the smaller the better. I have even made scenarios that feature a single AFV as your entire OOB. One scenario I made was only 7 turns long. I was challenged to make a scenario that was only 5 turns, I didn't make it but the scenario got good reviews, so it wasn't a total waste. quote:
i know there are a lot of gamers that appreciate mass and scale and huge numbers of units duking it out. and that's totally cool. alas, my tiny brain doesn't operate well with those kinda numbers. Yeah, I get it. About 75% of the scenarios I've made have been medium sized or smaller. I don't like the huge scenarios myself; unless I make them...[X(] Which I rarely do.[:-] quote:
so can anyone answer whether they think ostfront will be able to satisfy my particular gaming itch? Hopefully, I have answered all your particular questions. quote:
thanks much and i've got cash burnin' a hole in my pocket so hurry! That's good. We're working to finish the update as fast as we can. But we won't release it full of bugs. Good Hunting. MR
