usecase -> RE: For the Soviet PBEMers (1/3/2011 5:41:29 PM)

The names of the difficulty levels are pure semantics, or so I assert ;). I don't expect the AI to be remotely competitive until Challenging, and once we've collectively got to grips with the system (the support and air facets are still pretty much opaque to me), I'd expect anyone who wants to have an exciting '41-'42 to play @ Hard. To be honest, I could have captured Berlin in the summer of '42 - it's getting the Axis whittled down to 39 VPs in order to secure a decisive victory that took the time. Maybe I just wasn't being efficient - I took Helsinki, Bucharest, Vienna and so on. It was moving into Bratislava that brought up the victory screen (and rather abruptly at that - just move the unit and 'bam!' game over, would you like to look at the map?). To reiterate, I'm in later August '41 in my game against the Axis AI on 'hard', and it's kicking my arse, though I'm a bit surly about it (the scales are tipped quite heavily against you, and there's no real question of fighting it out in the South; even the best Soviet units are mere speed bumps). It's not particularly rewarding, but it's potentially going to make for an engaging '42-'43.
